The turbo can be done with the engine and head in situ. When you tried to turn the engine off and it kept going it would have been running on the engine oil getting through the tubo spindle oil seals. A recon turbo is a total waste. It is a shame you left it so long as I have someone who I really trust in Brazil who can get brand new Garrat or KKK turbos for about a quarter of the price here. With sea shipping it is about a 3rd of the price as here, but it takes about 12 weeks to get here!

The dealer can set the PATS to 0 keys and that wipes them all, they then set it to 1 and insert a key, that key is then programed, set it to 2 and the next key is inserted etc. It is going to cost a bob or two though.

Here is the chart, 'A' is center vent temperature after running the engine at 1500RPM with the aircon at fully cold for 10 mins. 'B' is the outside shade temperature. You need to put a thermometer into the center air vent and another outside the car in the shade. Turn off all other vents, put the system to recirculated air and run it at 1500rpm for 10 minutes with the doors and windows closed. You then read the thermometers and compare to the chart in the FAQs.

I think it has more to do with putting them in than taking them out to be honest. Splined screws have much more contact area with the tool than a hex head screw. Trouble is the splines rust out quicker.
