  1. We had a guy at work who was so addicted to gambling that he lost everything including his house and car. With him it was nay gambling, we had a couple of fruit machines in the canteen and he would put his wages into them too. I successful campaigned to have them removed. They were effectively rendering the canteen out of bounds to anyone with a gambling addiction. They should be banned from the work-place and chip-shops etc.
  2. Crackling is normally plugs/plug leads, whine is normally the alternator.
  3. Possibly, but I doubt it, that would more likely be down to loss of compression caused by worn rings and/or bores from a worn engine. But mine does it too, starts first turn of the key when cold and the glow plugs are on, but you need to crank it for a few seconds when warm. And I know there is not a lot wrong with my engine. Are you sure your not just getting paranoid?
  4. just a quckie ;) where does the blue wire go? To the output from the stereo for an automatic electric car aerial
  5. I filled mine up using a converted grease gun, it is not air in there, it is proper fluid, only the car is sitting higher at the rear. As I had to drain and refill it to work on the rear arms I am trying to decide if I have put the suspension components back wrong or if it is air in the back units....
  6. Nick, you may be able to help me with something: If you had some air in a hydro-elastic suspension setup would it just compress and the car still balance out evenly? I would imagine it should as the pressure would be even front to rear as there is no restrictors, just the connecting pipe between the two pressure domes.
  7. I looked on the parts catalogue and it is described as a hinged window, the picture is not clear enough to see though, but what I can see is that the hinge is not listed separately...... Perhaps you can use glass-bond or get a windscreen fitter to bond it for you?
  8. Aye, phone your local Pirtek guy and speak to him!
  9. Just out of interest Ezra, did you buy privately or from a car sales forecourt?
  10. sorry 'bloomin manners' never split the atom - not my job :P Your teaching the little darling, wonderful creatures how to split the atom...... Oh lordy!
  11. There is a brand new product on the market that indis are going to be using that will seal BIG holes in aircon systems. It goes into the system, they run the system with it and a bit of gas in and it foams as it comes out the hole and sets rock solid. They then have to flush the system and refill. It may be an option for failed evaporators....
  12. Well you need to check the wiring first. If the wiring is faulty then a new/working second hand No3 injector will need to be sourced, but it is a reasonably common part on VAG pre-PD engines. It is actually only held on by one bolt and the injector pipe, so easy enough to change if need be.
  13. Correct, it is the No3 injector and it is used by the ECU to help time the fuel-pump for small corrections to the pump timing.
  14. Please stand back from the ego, nothing to see here....... lol!
  15. I think Opera is head and shoulders above every other web browser available, and since last year it has had no adverts in the free version. I use it on my PDA too, they have just released the first full version.
  16. You take the door card off, there is a how to in the FAQs in the technical section, drop the door windows down to the bottom, undo the clamp screws and pull out the glass. Simple really.
  17. You (don't) want to be beta testing Windows Vista Elite then! Everything is quirky and unstable...
  18. My local Tesco does oil at 49p a litre, so a flush before an oil and filter change may be on the cards....
  19. The fan can lower the temperature quite quickly.
  20. Why not try Opera http://www.opera.com or IE7 Beta, https://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx
  21. Mine is going backwards!
  22. More like the fans going on and off...... But then you msot likely had the air-con on so the fans would be on anyway. Are they 2 speed?
