  1. Mine the wires were burnt out all the way back to the high level light! It was the culmination of several strange problems including the main brake lights working with no fuse in! A few lengths of the right thickness wire and some soldering, heatshing and insulation wrap and all is fine now. But why some one would bypass the fuse box because the fuse kept blowing due to an obvious short is beyond me!
  2. The back vents use the same compressor gas etc as the front vents. I think the OP has a problem with his flaps!
  3. Any common faults on these when it comes to MOT time?
  4. If it is from the crankshaft then all those parts need changing too. It would be a false economy not to do them. Oil will eat away the timing belt and you don't want the teeth to strip or the belt to snap! A rocker cover gasket is not exspensive, why not change that and see if the leak is from there?
  5. No Problem, your welcome.
  6. It just unclips and pulls out, but as there are about six bulbs in there, I am going for broken wires in the right hand side of the tailgate between it and the main body of the car!
  7. I was mistaken about the switch position chap.
  8. No it is a 4 cylinder 8 valve engine.
  9. Absolutely. It is the same engine. They all come off the same production line, just some have VW badges and some have Ford or SEAT.
  10. The gearstick is connected to the gearbox by two cables. If one of them has come off or failed then you will only get the up and down movement of the stick transfered to the gearbox, no (or limited) side to side movement.
  11. Yes, Andy is right, it should have them.
  12. I might have to work for a living if I gave my job up!
  13. Just unplug it and see if there is any difference, if none then suspect a fault. I am sure that is the sensor you want to check. Some one has done this already, look here http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...wtopic=7845&hl= and see if it is any help
  14. It is for the gauge and the ECU.
  15. It is a dual sensor with three wires IIRC.
  16. Well I used mine today for the first time. I don't know how much oil it took out as I did not measure it, but it took a little over four and a half litres to get to the maximum mark on the dipstick when I refilled it. I managed to stay totally oil-free and was congratualting myself on that then I picked the suction pipe up and it sprung at me spitting oil as it went...... :D
  17. Your not from round these parts then?
  18. Hanging down on a pipe from the front of the engine to the rad.
  19. The thick pipe should be cold to the compressor from the evaporator, the thin pipe from the compressor to the condensor should be hot. Damn hot. Too hot to touch.
  20. Temperature switch could be faulty. If that fails it defaults to 21 degrees or something like that.
  21. I don't work for HMG, but get a great discount with Frizzell because I am in the T&GWU.
  22. I don't know, have you ever seen a no-hands, furthest distance wins peeing contest? The girl will win every time.......
  23. It was the vision of a massive boot-style install with a huge amp on the back of a scooter that made me chuckle though! And is is very unwise to up rate a fuse because it was persistently blowing. That sounds like a chaffed wire or something btw.....
  24. Or: Total Failure - Serviced regularly Total Failure - Never been serviced ever.
  25. I got mine yesterday - Liverpool Victoria (Frizzell is a subsidury and do the car insurance!) Same as above, but car is a MK1 Alhambra, kept in the NN3 area and parked on a drive overnight. Excess is
