As johnb80 mentioned, the 'bulb check' light is operating correctly. The fuel economy around town is only between 35 and 39 I find, take it on along run and you'll get upto 50mpg driving normally. I take it you got the garage's 3 month warranty with it, or is it through a 3rd party warranty company, if so then take it to a different garage, but make warranty company aware first. I find that this has worked for me in the past, as I have warranty with 'warranty direct', if one garage can't fix it properly, then try another. :)

How To Activate Cruise Light ?
jkspoff replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Why isn't it enabled already ?? (The cruise light) ? will my dealer charge an arm and a leg for activating it if I've not got VAG ?? -
Definately a warranty issue with a main dealer, even on a two year old car it could well need a new compressor etc, not just re-gas. You don't want to void the warranty by taking it to an independant garage.
-
Oh yes ! I have actually bought 4 new centre caps for mine, as they had been prised on and off over the years that many times by careless unprofessional dealer mechanics
-
Because British motorways are too over crowded due to a poor public transport network also the poor driving standards of British motorists, it would be chaos !
-
I had axactly the same noises etc on mine last weekend, garage diagnosed a new compressor:
-
Excellent pictures, you could teach 'Haynes' a thing or two !

Most likely problem is the A/C compressor, these are known for not lasting more than a couple of years on some of the Gals ! Just had mine replaced under warranty, it turns out the clutch mechanism inside the compressor dropped out. Total cost to warranty was over 500 quid, needed regassing too, I now have icy cold air on hot days like today...

Air Con Subject Yet Again !
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
2 days at garage, not bad, new compressor fitted with 2 year warranty and re-gassed, these warranties on the Galaxy are well worth every penny ! Should have been nearly 600 quid ! -

Air Con Subject Yet Again !
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Car booked in this week, lets hope the warranty will pay for it all fixing. It definately sounds like the compressor needs replacing.......will it need re-gassing after this has been replaced, and does the drive belt need to be removed to get to it ??? -
Re-activate Trip Computer
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sorry I was a bit vague, I have the Ghia Tdi with the extra computer bits but no 'range' function, it was this that I wondered if it could be re-activated ?? -
I've not got a VAG thingy, so was wondering if a dealer would re-activate the 'global closure' feature and the 'tdi trip computer' for me and how much it would cost ?? Anyone ever had this done. As I believe the trip computer option is deactivated because of the risk of it being slightly incorrect with the tdi, although it would act as a rough guide. The global closure I understand was deactivated at manufacturing stage for health and safety reasons, but am I correct in thinking that they can be turned back on though VAG ?? <_<

Air Con Subject Yet Again !

Useful link to ebay item company, replacement air compressor for AC. http://www.bba-reman.com/catalogue/Detaile...iledProduct=125 The only issue with my current warranty was it only covers upto maximum amount of money, and from what I've read it seems that repair jobs are a bit hit and miss as to long term effectiveness. ;) -
Air Con Subject Yet Again !

Point taken and I agree, however I have a month left on a third party warranty that I will use, but just wondered of cost implications beyond the warranty cover........? -
Sorry to bring up this old but frequent subject of complete air con failure, but when the air con failed in others vehicles did you experience a loud rattle then air con failure immediately after start up.....maybe the compressor failing or something.....If so, was it the compressor failing or another part of the system?......as this happened to me today, If it is air-con failure I am beginning to think it would be cheaper to part ex the car and buy a new one !! rather than have it sat with a dealer for ages and spend thousands on repairing it only for it to fail again after a typical botch job.......what has everyone else done in this situation, did your dealer do a rapid repair and how much did it cost........ta.....
-
40,000 miles for the mk2 tdi definately, they even reprinted the service manual books on the later models to state this. Ford apparently released a reminder to their dealer service departments to make it standard at the 40k service.

Hi, was it the Nokia kit or the one made by Parrot, this one: Did you have any problems hard wiring it up to the ignition, where did you fit the display ?
-
Does anyone have a mobile phone kit fitted to their Galaxy? Does Ford make a proper car kit for the Galaxy ? I am fed up with the rattly Nokia Cark-91 car kit that I have fitted and would prefer something like the Mercedes has, a dedicated slot for mobile, or has anyone fitted the new Nokia bluetooth car kit to theirs, how did you fit it.......? <_<
-
I had a similar problem with mine recently, it turned out it was one of the drive shafts, they replaced both as a full factory part kit.
-
I've seen the latest Galaxy's with the new chrome surround on grill and chrome surround on front fog lights, anyone had a go at fitting them to a mk2 earlier model. How much is the kit and are they easy to fit ? :P
-
A follow up to an old post: I have been reading some old posts and found that my sills too look crushed as mentioned above, but I am not too sure how long they've been like this or who did it........anyone any idea how much it costs to get Ford or like to fix them and re-seal them back to how they should be ??? They don't appear so bad as to cause corrosion, just mis-shaped, which actually looks to the untrained eye the normal design.

DVD screens Does anyone know if they are compatible with a conventional portable DVD player ??
-
Its loose on the floor under middle seat, I cut out the packaging and sat it in that for protection, but a bracket would be better.
-
If you have one of these removable/portable in-car DVD players, where do you put the player so that it can be left in the car permanently but out of site. I have opted for under the rear middle seat and plugged into the rear accessory 12volt sockets, but has anyone come up with a better solution ?? I remove the screens overnight, but leave all the leads in place ready for the screens plugging back in...... :D ?
