are you experiencing any problems with the car? I am not an expert on vag-com but if you are not experiencing any problems - can you clear the DTC and see if it comes back? reading fault codes can sometimes cause undue concern. -

00533 is idle speed control (ISC) - intake leak/blockage, throttle valve tight/sticking, IAC valve or ISC actuator/position sensor. sorry can't be anymore specific. -
make sure the one you buy covers the mk1 galaxy and not just the facelift 2000.75 model.

this thread can't go on forever. you need to get hold of a manual or some other sort of self help device - TIS (if it wasn't copyrighted).

keep us updated - hopefully the transmission service will fix it.

when the transmission fluid is low (fluid leak/wrongly filled) it does result in some erratic changes and loss of drive when the gearbox is cold. a new gearbox would have to learn parameters and driving style.

if the car is outside of any warranty and the dealer hasn't identified any external faults - the only thing you can do is take it to an auto specialist. Initially they will change the transmission fluid and filter, check the wiring/connectors, read any fault codes and test drive. It will cost approx

99.99% of the posts on here are not malicious or offensive. As far as I know no posts are being removed or censored. i would be questioning the garage on its initial diagnosis and why it has replaced so many parts. why was the water pump replaced? was it leaking? was it noisy? why replace the radiator? why replace the sensors? I am sure that they all weren't useless. have they tried flushing the system through? head gasket checks should have already been done? i hope it is not the head gasket although it can't be ruled out. i would have thought that a blockage is the likely cause as a hose shouldn't run dry.

have you connected the hoses correctly? check the hoses again for splits. the split hoses would definately have stopped the cc from working & it would be unusual to experience two faults. i assume you were travelling in excess of 30 mph when you tried the cc. it won't work below. did you hold the set button in long enough? then check the brake switches. http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8783/webdscf34262as.jpg

just had a look at the pin without the rubber - it is one square pin. i am a bit worried now as when i opened the doors the lights which you can't switch off (under dash, back seats) came on and they wouldn't initially switch off when I locked the car. eventually started the engine, switched off and locked the doors again and the lights went out. i am confused now??? -
have you tried reducing the temperature (blue button) to minimum and then increasing?

i am assuming you have climate control. have you tried decreasin the temperature to the coolest setting and and then increasing the temperature again? it worked for me when i had a similar problem after fitting a new air con compressor.

it must be a door switch - can't think of anything else it would be. but which one? i notice that the n/s rear is missing the rubber cover - does anyone know if that would make any difference? if it is not that one it will probably be the drivers door as that is the most used. there is no indication on the instrument cluster that a door is opened - the double switch would explain that. -

thanks for your replies. the lights are definately switched to 'door'. how can i tell which switch? i have gone around pushing each one in but it still didn't switch the lights off. are they easy to replace? -
interior lights are staying on while driving. checked and re-checked that all the doors are closed properly. lights even staying on when car has been locked. any help would be appreciated - yes, i know i am asking more questions than answering them lately but i do wish it was the other way around - bloody car.

I am not too hot on all of the different media formats. my changer will play recordable CDR's made with windows media player though. when I get a spare couple of days and a larger hard drive I will transfer all of my music collection (only joking about daniel o'donnell) onto the pc. I see that you can now send music stored on an MP3 player wirelessly to your car radio to play - so maybe the cd changers days are numbered.

just had another play with the changer - took the discs out, put them back in, gave the disc housing a little shake and blew into the inside of the changer unit and hey presto - it is working again. as said previously - a tempermental beast. now where have i put my collection of daniel o'donnell cd's??????

does anyone know why my cd is showing 'no discs' when there is a disc in the changer and i have tried the disc all ways???
