Mike, I probably told you that beige was discontinued. Can you let me know if you manage to get some because as far as I know only misty grey and laguna blue are available for the Mk1. I have been selling the grilles on eBay for over 2 years. I started selling them because VW & Seat sell them for

had the car 3 months before i even realised i had a cd changer. my changer can be tempermental, sometimes it recongnises cd's, sometimes it doesn't. It is currently going through a phase of showing 'no disks' even though i know there is a disk in the changer. If you have tried flipping the disc, check the connection to the changer.

if you are losing transmission fluid that would account for the temporary loss of drive.

surprised that ford had a go. i thought they would have sent it to a auto specialist. it must have cost them a fortune at appox

fitted the cheap battery. everything now ok. thanks for all your replies.

I was refering to the head gasket checks. If you are not losing coolant and compression checks/chemical checks were OK, I would say that you have eliminated a blown headgasket/cracked head. It is not uncommon for a small amount of mayonaise to form under the oil filler cap if you are only making short journeys.

Battery dead. Have never had problems with it before, am hoping that the cold weather finally killed it and not something draining the power. Any comments would be welcome. Am still confused by the 5 beeps. Just lifted myself up off the floor -
-
if these beeps are supposed to be warning me of something why is there nothing in the handbook? the only warning devices i know i have are for the leaving the lights or indicator on - it is one long beeeeeeeeeeppppppp or beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeppppppppppppppppp?? depending on how long i take to switch them off. will test the battery today.
-
nothing is on is far as i know. i am totally confused as i haven't had a problem with beeps before. just opened the door and had 5 beeps. they are coming from behind the dash, drivers side. shut the door again and opened it - no beeps. locked the door, opened it - no beeps. it only seems to happen after the car has been idle for longer. had the autobox reconditioned in may -
-
thanks VR6. they did mention that the battery was dead. i have never had a problem with the battery but have just had a look and noticed one of the cells smoking. would this definately cause the 5 beeps?

Just picked up car from autobox people. Gearbox is ok (not 100%) but I now get 5 beeps greeting me everytime I get into car. Any ideas?

It sounds like you have been unlucky. Due to the age of the car I am sure that the dealer wouldn't have been able to justify insuring themselves against major mechanical failure on the car for longer than 3/6 months after selling. I am sure that a reputable dealer would have been sympathetic to the problem had it occurred within 6 months of buying the car. Agree with Seatkid. You need to look at the description of the car including service history and any warranty given by the company. You may have a case for neglect due to the advice they gave on the car being OK to drive when this could have caused more damage. If the car was as described and out of any warranty I think a good outcome would be the company meeting you halfway. Good luck

Places To Get Aircon Pumps

Replaced my compressor recently on my v6 - -
They did provide a car FOC last time I took the car in under warranty but the warranty document does state that consequential costs (loss of business, accommodation, hire car etc) are not covered, so I will just have to pay up and hope that they do fix the faults this time.
-
Just spoken to the autobox specialists regarding returning my car under warranty to have autobox looked at. It currently has three faults (one has always been there) since it was re-built last May. They are saying that they will provide a curtousy car but will charge me for the privilage. I was not too happy as they are 60 miles away and I have no choice but to pay. They say that it is standard practise across the industry not to provide a car FOC when repairing a car under warranty. Can anyone please comment? Apologies for this being in the wrong section - I have only just realised.

in my experience cruise control fails 99% of the time due to the vacuum pipe(s) to the cc pump (behind n/s indicator) perishing.

Whats This Pipe Do ?
dipsomaniac replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
could be the EVAP. it is there to prevent any unburnt fuel vapours escaping. when ford forgot to re-connect mine it didn't affect the performance but you could hear a sucking (of air) sound. Just noticed you are referring to a tdi - ignore this post as I don't think an EVAP is fitted??? -
fords work should be guaranteed for one year. if they fitted a new air con compressor and it failed within a year they should replace it FOC. have just replaced my air con compressor - it was making a grinding sound. the company who supplied it guarantee it for 12 months.

2.3 Air Con Compressor.
dipsomaniac replied to stevejannicole's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
My mk1 V6 has a SD7V16 compressor fitted. Not sure if yours is definately the same but I wouldn't think that VW/Ford would use too many different compressors. Try this link -
Got car back this afternoon. Good job it was a nice day because air con and only air con was working. I couldn't get any of the vents (only the wife) to emit any hot air even after setting the cc to hi. I initially thought it was because the outside temperature was 10 degrees. Tried it again tonight, still cold until I set the cc to low and then when I increased the temp the hot air starting to come out of the vents. Very pleased with the job. It is fantastic to have a nice quiet smooth car again.
