the op has stated that he has a HAYNES manual for the car! and the HAYNES manual doesnt cover the Mk2 so unless other wise stated we can assume that he has a Mk1? and the fuse panel doesnt fold down to reveal a second layer of relays :lol: the front screen is fed by one fuse and one relay so as you have lost only half the screen we can assume that either the screen element has blown or that the cable feeding that side had fell off? the connections to the screen are on either side of the screen half way up the A post if you pop the trim panel off the top of the dash by the front quarter light you should be able to see the cables and test them for power there instead of removeing the A post cover etc.. the 0 volt connection is above the head lineing above the rear view mirror, accessable via the interior light hole once thats removed! good luck as for the ac? two foot of water would have drown the compressor! try CPR and give it the kiss of life but I think you maybe a bit later there! :lol:

IIRC? the screw covers for the grab handles are part of the handles they as are just a bit of plastic that folds over the screws and clips into place, and if you mean the 'D' shaped cover that clips over the top bolt on the 'B' post ?then your out of luck as I threw a load of them in the bin last week! the good new is they are/were available from VW :) in pearl grey or light beige! part nos 1J0858189C 8YS (pearl grey) or 7M0857845 (light beige) front seat only the rear seats part nos do differ! but any good VW stores person will be able to sort you out :32:

dave do you need dual channel ones? if not and the dvd has a built in sender then the phillips sbchc200's in argos will do, plus they come with a recharchable battery set up which will last a few trips! and the transmitter is fairly discrete if you have yo use it? we had them for our old system and they took all the abuse the kids could throw at them for over 5 years and still came back for more! where as the ones in the ebay link didnt last one long distance trip to France before I had to do running repairs on the ear pads!
