  1. Also make sure they fitted the right size pads for your model. The problems I incur trying to buy pads for my car are unbelievable. I have now written on the back inside cover of the manual/handbook the correct part numbers for Mintex pads and discs for future reference.
  2. My brothers one, a couple of years ago cost him around about £150 (parts and labour). I wouldn't know how much it would cost now.
  3. I think the gear linkages may be worn or need adjusting. My brothers mk1 had the same symptoms a few years back and the mechanic had to strip the carpets back and seats out to get to them.
  4. With that kind of response, i don't think anyone will bother replying to your post. The reply that buford_t_justice gave was spot on. Unless you go for the factory fitted option, in my opinion, aftermarket hid kits are a waste of money and time. And also with the changes due for the MOT this year, hopefully we should see less of these annoying crap lights on our roads.
  5. Oops, was proof reading. :)
  6. Welcome foxie, Really glad you found a solution to your problem, any more probs, drops us a line and i'm sure someone will pop along and offer some advice.
  7. Hi gazmech, It's very rare to have someone breaking a Galaxy here so i would suggest good old eBay. EDIT: I've just searched for 'Galaxy breaking' and quite a few turned up.
  8. A very good point Alan about the undertray. A very important but regulary overlooked especially when fitted to the Galaxy's, Alhambra's and Sharan's. There have been numerous posts here about how the rain can get in to the belts, especially the power steering which causes the belt to slip or come off resulting in loss of steering. Motto is: Check to see if your people carrier as one fitted especially if you had it recently serviced at a garage.
  9. A vehicle locksmith would be first port of call as there are quite a few who have the necessary equipement to clone a key. I think 'Timpsons' the shoe people also duplicate keys. Telephone around for advice and prices - and as already said, never go the dealers but as a last resort as you will need a big fat wallet to go in and will be considerably smaller when you come out!
  10. Sounds like your turbo is goosed. I wouldn't drive it too hard or for too long as it could ruin your engine.
  11. IIRC, isn't a recon or new turbo when fitted have to be set-up?? (something to do with the actuator rod) Best bet will be to phone the supplying company and ask them for advice.
  12. Seems to me that you are enquiring about 2 faults. As already mentioned, check the wiring between the door and wing (FAQ's should reveal any more help if needed) Power steering noise, check fluid level and belt.
  13. Without an image or photograph, its quite hard to identify for sure, but i'm gonna guess and go for the parcel shelf fixtures/fittings/or net.
  14. If you gonna scrap it then stick a screwdriver in the tank! Obviously, have a large container to catch the diesel though.
  15. Sorry gregers, never checked his profile. :glare: In that case, OP, i would have suggested the idle control valve - located on top of inlet manifold, 2 bolts and 1 electrical connector , but since you have already replaced that then i would definitely be checking the vacuum pipes for perishing or simply pulled off. O2 sensor would help, but check all pipes first.
  16. Sounds like your drainage channels at the sunroof are either blocked or you have a bad seal at the top of the windscreen.
  17. Great minds think alike!! Just what i thought as i read the OP comments, 'Curtain net wire' came to mind in a flash then i scrolled down and there it was!
  18. Front aren't part of the MOT test but back ones are.
  19. Never heard of Planet Oil but have of Comma. Apparently Planet Oil is made by Comma (owned by Esso) who in return supply Halfords (own brand). But since you are on the ball with the crucial specification then 'go for it'!
  20. bigdave, thats for the rears and you say that you have 288mm discs on the front, now i have 300mm discs on the front and thats were the confusion lay with my orders. OP will need to measure his front discs to make sure and get the right pads to match the discs,
  21. Strange how it runs for 'few minutes then cuts out' - i think fuelling issues. Did you check that your car make that 'squish' noise as mentioned earlier by SilverBeast?
  22. Depends if you have 15" or 16" wheels. Cheapest Mintex discs and pads on eBay for 16" and are roughly £75-£80 for the front set. I had major problems when i first got my Galaxy with internet orders and motor factors supplying either wrong size discs or pads and sometimes both!. I now have the correct part numbers for Mintex pads/discs written in the handbook back cover for future use. P.S Price of filters/oil sound ok for genuine parts.
