  1. Any evidence of this?
  2. Nick, i'm sure that the days of running an engine are long gone - just drive it as though you had it for a while (as long as you don't redline it)! I thought modern engines nowadays are put through their paces before being installed into vehicles?
  3. There are some members here who have had either the power steering pump or the steering rack changed under warranty. I would insist on getting the car repaired. How old is the car because if it's under a certain amount of timescale, you can reject the car if they don't budge. Speak to the Fords Customer Care at their HQ and see what they suggest. Keep us updated so others can benefit if they encounter the same problems.
  4. She only comes out to see her fellow Scots, she's bit on the shy side! <_<
  5. Thanks guys for all your advice and help, tonight i dropped the computer off at my brothers friends house who owns a very sucessfull computer repair shop. I told him what happened and straight away he said either motherboard or CPU were the culprit, but it couldn't be the CPU because i told him that when the computer did boot up after say 30 minutes everything was fine. He then said motherboard - the night before i took the case side panel off and had a quick look inside and noticed a couple of capacitors showing signs of leakage (rust like fluid and slight bulges). A few minutes research on the internet confirmed that indeed this particular brand of motherboards were prone to this kind of damage. So hopefully just needs a motherboard and him being my two younger brothers friend, he wont charge me a fortune! But him being so busy i won't see the computer for over a week! Will keep you guys updated just in case anyone else gets this problem. EDIT: Kev just seen your post whilst writing this one - You are indeed correct my man - my birthday is in June which if my brain works is exactly 9 months, it's even down to the day!!! <_<
  6. Thanks mum, January, expensive month:!!!!!!! 1st child's (boy) birthday is on the 15th January 2nd child's (boy) is on the 17th January 3rd child's (girl) is in March - Phew!!!! 4th child (girl) was 2 days ago (11th January) 1 yr old!!! So having 3 kids in January, those with a little knowledge can work out that i get sex once a year in March :D ;) :D Number 3 child - must have got a bonus  Well anyway, i love them to bits but getting of track here with my problems with the PC. Don't want to risk getting the car buggered if i service it myself then go running to a mechanic plus i don't have the right tools just the basics - i did drop a hint to 'beyondhelp?' but he hasn't responded.
  7. Ah, all you need to do is drive for 1 hour in any direction (bar the sea!) and the scenery is unbelievable be it rain or sunny. Next time try a place called Drumnadrochit, on the west banks of Loch Ness - when i took the family there last year it reminded me of 'Braveheart', i even heard the theme music playing in my head!!!!
  8. Oh dear! I drop it off at my brothers friend who owns a computer repair shop and see what he can do. P.S. This has been some week: firstly, problems with my leaking roof and getting ripped off by 3 cowboy builders all telling me its leaking from different places, then my 1 year old daughter decided i needed a new mobile, so drops it at ASDA's, well flings it 30 feet away! Then my desktop computer packs in, then my pilot light on my GCH wouldn't light (now sorted) Car needs a service and to top it all off, haven't been working for the past year! Never mind, start new job on Mon 21/02/08, only thing is, commuting into Edinburgh town centre, starting at 8 meaning leaving house at 6! Yippee. (Need to buy a helicopter or a cheap run-around)
  9. Hi, I wonder if there would be someone here kind enough to help me with my pc. I have a Packard Bell iExtreme 9053, S/N 023741020056 which i have had since brand new (approx 2002) whilst i was working at PC World - top of the range at the time. My problem is that if i try switching the computer on, the amber light comes, fans for the cpu on, agp graphic card fan on, power supply fan on and also an exhaust fan which i have connected to a spare slot comes on but fails to boot up. This can take anything from 30 minutes to upto 2 hours - and taking longer everyday! Once up and running everything is fine - bar the noise from the fans! The motherboard that is fitted to this machine is Columbia II (GA-8SIML) Ver 1.0
  10. Very funny, reminds me of this one.
  11. Move to Sunny Scotland then! I remember quite clearly when we first moved to Scotland back in 1980 (when i was still a nipper!) and all my friends said at the time: Why do want to move up there, it's all cold, snowing all the time, men were skirts and full of mountains! :D P.S. Adrian, is your aux heater okay then? And on a serious note, everyone take care.
  12. Yes, trade prices. Invoice price to customers is
  13. Good for you Andy! If that had happened to me, i too, would have used that line (just like my previous post)
  14. How come i don't have the jet engine noise, because i always fancied a 'wicked' noise coming from the engine! :D And yes, i do have a heater in the back with the controls/2 dials above the LHS door in the headlining. P.S. What's the difference between a booster heater and an auxillary heater?
  15. Right, finally got it sorted out but read on and be amazed! 27/12/06 - Got Galaxy, Insurance with More Than at
  16. Sorry but i beg to differ. It may be possible depending on numerous scenerio's. One of them being is the speed of the cab when the OP was hit - now i am going back a few years when i was a Paramedic and in one particular incident i was called to where a a young lad had jumped off a wall (about 10 feet) There were no visible injuries and neither was he complaining of any pains bar a bruise to his left ankle. After strapping him up, delivered to the local A&E, we later discovered that the young lad a fracture to his left hip caused by the force of impact travelling up his leg! He ended up being in a total lower half plaster cast! So my point being is that no matter how hard you hit something the force has to go some place, hence why cars nowadays have crumple zones. So i would hazard a guess that something could have been dislodged (wiring connection, glow-plug) causing the heater to stop working after the bump. No doubt it will be hell of a case to try to prove otherwise to your insurance company.
  17. Good to have you have back BigKev - look forward to reading more of your sarcastic posts  - sorry, i should rephrase that, reading more of your ever-enlighting, genius, well-thought of, full of hope, 100% subject related posts.
  18. Adrian, I have the same problem with More>Than. Last year (12/06) when i got my Galaxy, i was quoted around the
  19. I believe the height for the mark 1 is 1725mm.
  20. This guy is selling two Galaxy's and one of them is fitted with the twin headlight conversion - he only wants
  21. So, for the sake of changing the pollen filter at 10000 miles they decided in their wise wisdom to state that the vehicle should also be serviced at this mileage. So what happens to the Vauxhall pollen filter? Is it a longer-life version filter or do you hoover it clean yourself?
  22. Also to add: Chevy Captiva has seven seats - Vauxhall Antara has 5 Therefore the Captiva is slightly longer. Mid-range Chevy Captiva 7 seater LT is
  23. So quite here without BigKev, is he lying somewhere drunk enjoying this festive period??? ;)
