  1. Most dents have resulted in the metal stretching, so they don't usually just push out. Try Dent Devils or similar mobile company who use special tools to rework the metal. If your dealer's contact is such a company, go for it because I think the usual price is in the region of
  2. Try not to loose it this time.....
  3. ..and DON'T remove the battery tray to aid access....
  4. ..playing around with ignition key...sometimes click.... Maybe the ignition switch is on the way out? Can you get to the back of it to "short" out the ignition-switched accessories, and if so, do the wipers work straight away? If so, duff ignition switch.
  5. Check that you really have the "always live" connection made to a permanent, non-switched live supply - and that you did not blow the fuse in this feed when performing the installation (I know from bitter experience from fitting a radio-cassette to one of my previous cars....).
  6. Great picture (!) abstract art at its best.
  7. Clutch thrust bearing on the way out?
  8. Congratulations, sounds like a job well done.
  9. Most Ghia-X models have a badge saying Ghia-X on their front wings. I think the question of trim levels has been covered before, have you tried a search on the forum for Ghia-X? If by bubbling, you mean the black bits on the door frames, these are sticky plastic (certainly on the facelifted models), and I've not seen any bubbling myself. It could mean that the doors have been repaired (badly).
  10. Yes, but if my maths is correct, 2 tweeters plus 4 door speakers is six speakers, leaving another 2. So if these other 2 are in the back of the car and they are working, which it appears they are, then the wires are broken to the one that isn't working (or else the speaker is blown).
  11. You'd do better to scan the Argos catalogue and/or visit a few discount electrical places. For just in-car DVD, you can get a portable set-up that hangs over the back of the front seats for a couple of hundred quid each, with 4 or 5 inch LCD TV screens. These can then be removed for security, and used in the house (kids have one each in their bedrooms perhaps?) I'm sure with the approrriate wires and a suitable switching box you could have DVD and video in the car this way, with the option of adding a playstation or whatever expensive toys you feel like adding at a later day, all for much less money than you are looking to spend at present.
  12. OK you have 8 speakers and just one doesn't work. Where are the other 7? If there are two in the rearmost seat areas, ie 2 behind the rear doors, and they work, then they will also be from the rear speaker output from the head unit and/or amp, which means that EITHER the speaker is U/S and the dealer has mis-diagnosed the problem, OR (and my money is on this) the wires to the rear passenger door speaker are broken. Do you have another speaker that you can substitute for the "dead" one? You've already got one speaker cutting out when you open a door -and that points to broken wires being present.
  13. Give my regards to Stonehaven, fond memories of a business trip some years ago now. Sat in car on seafront eating my sarnie at lunchtime. Those were the days....
  14. Wallpaper scraper will do just fine. Haven't taken the door trim panel off the Galaxy (have done other cars I've owned) but from what I remember, spare lips are almost a requirement as they tend to break easily on the Galaxy. Anyone got photos of taking door trim off that they could post?
  15. I'm running mine at the Ford recommended pressures. First owner had one front replaced with the spare at about 17k miles, and I got the selling garage to put an almost new tyre on the other front wheel before I agreed to buy. The original worn front, which is now my spare, has between 2 and 3mm on it. When/if I have the money, I will probably have to have all 5 tyres replaced at around the 40k mark.

  17. ...and use some self-adhesive velcro to stop the parcel shelf rattling. Only
  18. ...or it could be the relay (but most likely to be broken wires). Invest in a cheap multimeter and start by playing "hunt the voltage". Good luck....
  19. No it wasn't. I'm in the GU postcode area and the local main dealer is part (or should that be "prat" as an unintentional typo?) of a large chain that also owns some of the other nearest Ford garages too.
  20. Depends, could be either. Is the front-to-rear fader on the head unit itself? If so, it could be the head unit (2007). If not, and you have a separate front-rear fader then it could be the amp, the fader unit or the speaker. Or it could be the wiring between head unit and amp, or between amp and speaker (cable broken in door loom???)
  21. If you need one that transmits so it can be picked up by a radio aerial, you will need a radio operator's licence to use it! Was going to try out my laptop with a cassette adaptor thingly last night, but ran out of time, so do let us know how you get on.
  22. Not a radio signal - you need to "splice" into the aerial cable itself, usually a "Y"-adaptor is supplied, and the output from (in this case) your laptop is added to the signals in the radio cable. Hence it cannot be received by another car travelling in close convoy. If you want that, try one of the "PMR" sets available from eg Argos (personal mobile radio-works over about 1.5km range, posh sort of walkie-talkie).
  23. You will need different seat cushions. The heater elements are not cheap and Ford/VW/Seat certainly won't give them to you, unwired, unless you pay extra!
  24. Went into my local main (huge) Ford dealer at lunchtime today so see the "new" Galaxy in all its facelifted glory. They don't have one, and haven't had one of the new 2004 year models in yet! They are "possibly" expecting one in a "few weeks". Amasing - I told them I had one that was just over 3 years old (the salesman saw me park it just outside the showroom door and walk in) and was considering changing it, depending on what the new one was like, and I was shown total apathy. They are just turning away potential business on a vehicle that has a list proce of about
