My wipers start straight away - in fact, even when altering the delay interval, they give a wipe as soon as you adjust the delay setting. Dissapointing to discover that the rear wiper doesn't start when front wipers are on and reverse gear is selected - Mt Renault scenic does this and so did my Rover 820 I had before.

Noisy Suspension

Interesting...I'll mention it to the garage. Got a nice letter from the first owner this morning confirming that the car has never been accident damaged and that he'd never had a problem with it, warranty or otherwise. His wife still misses it! Wonder what they changed it for??? -
New shape or old? 90, 110 or 115 bhp? If it's the facelifted version it sounds quite a good deal - check out on Parkers website, something like www.parkers.co.uk for confirmation.

...and the speedo's calibrated to 160mph; should be fun in a TDI!!!

Yes, saw that one but my rad seems securely fixed. I'll keep you posted; car booked into local Frauds on 27th May for service and investigation. -
Low Mileage Servicing

Thanks, FWH I phoned the number you gave; Ford confirmed that there's a three year warranty - year 1 by Ford and years 2&3 by the dealer network. They've said that if I get the next service done ASAP they'll consider any mechanical failure sympathetically, and of course everything else under the waranty should be OK; they are even going to post me details of this "clasic" cover scheme. Looks like I'll pay the extra and take the car to the dealer for its service, especially with the suspension noise (see separate thread). -

Got home from work early today and had a look underneath; places wadding under front of undershiedl. It's not this that's making the noise! It's quite a "thump" over some bumps and it seems to be getting worse. Grovelled under the sides of the car too but cannot find anything loose. Looks like I'll have to take it to a dealer - well, service is due now anyway. -

Interesting, thanks. The dealers quoted around -
So my new purchase needs its two-year service which is supposed to be minor, but 2 nearest main dealers are quoting

(gulp) what's the rectangular patch - looks like a hole someone's cut with a hacksaw! I'll have to wait until the week-end before I start poking around underneath my Gal again. -
Almost forgot... What really amazes me is that there are no rear ashtrays or bins, so with kiddies on board, there's nowhere for them to put sweet wrappers etc - they all have to be passed forward and soon fill the very small front ashtray, or else dropped on the floor or left in the rear doorbins. This is a truly glaring omission by Ford/VW.

Having only just purchased a Galaxy, and having seen many references over the past couple of months to the TIS CD, from where do I get hold of one? Thanks in advance.

2 remote control keys, not 1 - I also have a Renault that came with 2 remote keys as standard; aircon to glove box to keep it cool; minidisc player as standard as well as cassettes and CD's, personally I love the analogue clock on the dash; ability to buy luggage net and tonneau cover as an extra for those of us that couldn't afford to buy brand-new and specify them as options at time of purchase; tough-up paint to come as standard (don't joke, in 1985 I bought a new Honda and in the glove box was a touch-up stick); ability to add TV and multimedia as extras (again, for those of us who don't have the money to buy new); speed limiter to stop accidentally exceding the limit; sunroof as standard; rear aircon controls as standard; ability for those in rearmost seats to get out themselves eg internal handle on tailgate; electrically open function on tailgate as per new Honda Accord estate - very handy when returning to the car with both hands full of shopping, and helps short people not to strain/stretch to close tailgate; fitting the Volvo D5 diesel engine now that Ford own Volvo, or VW's own V6 (or even the latest V10) diesel.

Noisy Suspension
Ivor_E_Tower replied to Ivor_E_Tower's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Mine's done just over 17,000 miles and is 2000 model year although first reg at end of Jan 2001. Supplying dealer is an independent, not a Ford garage and they are unaware of any "routine" noisy suspension things that may need adjusting. Anyone else had these "rattles" or know what it could be? I've tried pulling/moving all the accessible suspension bits but nothing seems loose, and the noise doesn't appear at speed eg on motorway or dual carriageway. -
What I'd like is satnav plus in-car TV plus ability to play DVD's and VHS tapes, whilst still retaining ability to play audio cassettes, with screen in centre console up front and either 2 headrest monitors or one drop-down from ceiling for the rear passengers. As I've just blown all my savings on a 2-year old TDI, this will have to wait for some time - possibly for ever!

Finally tracked down a diesel Ghia fter 4 months of looking; got a Jan 2001 (2000MY) in silver. Great but for one thing: at slowish speeds (up to about 20mph) over some bumps there is a thumping noise from what appears to be the front. Have looked under the car and nothing seems loose; under the bonnet everything looks OK now (n/s hadlamp was slightly loose but I tightened the fixings and it's now OK but this didn't stop the noise). Any suggestions? TIA

Huh! I'd like to buy and fit the cargo net to my 2000MY Gal, but the local Ford dealer says it's not available to purchase - can only be supplied with a new vehicle :-(( Anyone know what's needed and the part numbers? TIA

After 4 months of looking for a new-shape Galaxy Ghia diesel, I sound one at the MPV centre in Newbury - on the A4 just west of the town centre in a "suburb" called Speen. Hope to collect the vehicle on Saturday; can highly recommend them from my experience so far. HTH

Further to earlier remarks on Prestwood Motors and their ability to do special deals if this forum was quoted, last week I e-mailed them with my requirements and asked if they could help find me a Galaxy Ghia tdi. To date, no response. Is it worth driving approx 60 miles there, on the off-chance, or are they not really interested in my business?

Hmm, don't know about that. Used Galaxy prices seem very high to me. I was looking at buying a current-shape "facelifted" model in the next couple of months but it will depend on what I can find for a budget of about
