  1. :( Know someone with a body repair jig? Put car in it and turn it over :o
  2. Methinks it is time you asked a freemason for the answer..... :(
  3. ..straight to the top of the class, of course :(
  4. (thinks ... Reubens looks constipated)
  5. Nothing wrong with the sound quality on mine - have you checked the bass and treble settings, and adjusted the balance/fader? Check each speaker is working in isolation using balance and fader, then alter the bass and treble to that speaker in isolation. If any speaker doesn't respond properly then it's probably blown. Bad news is that to upgrade main speakers, door card has to be removed
  6. If you use a Ford garage and get change from
  7. Yes, you are right in thinking that
  8. That sounds like the drain, and the pipe should not be filled with foam - is it foam or leaves that have gone funny?
  9. (2) sounds like the drop links, (1) could be cold idle solenoid/valve if there is one fitted (parents have had this problem on another make of car) - garage should be able to diagnose it quickly (if they have any competent technicians...)
  10. Agreed - maybe we don't hear of warped heads on diesels too much because they run cooler than petrol engines. Also warping is usually caused by too high temperature so if it's been running cool, then little risk of any warping. However, in this case, water pump failure may be the cause of the problem, so ...... (keep your fingers crossed)
  11. And the significance is (curiosity is killing me) Regards - John ...if the ECU gets a signal from the auto saying it is in Reverse and the speed is above zero, there is a bug that prevents the engine from rising above idle speed on some models.
  12. ...so ask them how much they'll give you as a trade-in
  13. mirror on a stick....OMG !
  14. Yes, very easy
  15. Sounds like poor connection or bad earth somewhere - problems more likely to be caused by bumps in the road than by stray EMI/EMC.
  16. ...that's why I made sure I got one with front and rear parking sensors! It makes parking an absolute doddle.
  17. Write to What Car magazine helpline; wchelpline@haynet.com
  18. If you order multi-media, you DO NOT get the CD changer as standard. I'm not sure but you may now get the in-dash radio-CD unit that takes 3 (or maybe 6) discs unless you have ordered satnav too. The CD changer can certainly be fitted afterwards, typically under the front passenger seat as you do not get rotating front seats when ordering multi-media as factory-fit option. You have done the right thing in ordering video player as standard - there will be aux input sockets on the console between the front seats and you can plug a DVD player into it - starting point is to look in Argos/Index catalogues. If you order factory-fit DVD, it is becoming harder to find aftermarket VHS players that will work in a car
  19. I hope you're talking about the current avatar, rather than VR6Galaxy himself :)
  20. Try changing the crankshaft position sensor (I think there is one; most ECU's need them to work).
  21. Ferrets are notoriously bad at fault-finding; they tend to gnaw through electric cables too, which may be your problem..... :)
  22. Max of 4 weeks "extra grace" - if you have your first MOT done 6 weeks before the car is 3 years old, it will date from the day of the test and NOT date of first reg.
  23. Galaxy is set for fixed servicing only, from what I've heard because Ford didn't want to sign up to VW's agreement, cost of new equipment for garages, training of "technicians" etc. So if you can enable the software to do this, because you have VAG-COM, it will probably work OK. Could confuse the next owner when you sell the car though.... and if you go to variable servicing, remember to use the correct oil, 506.01
