Did it have aircon? Some cars are set to have the cooling fan running all the time when aircon is on, to aid the efficiency of the aircon evaporator.

Chuffing Nora.....
Ivor_E_Tower replied to seatkid's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
Part of the reason is that the motor manufacturers have year-on-year price REDUCTION agreements with their suppliers, so each year the suppliers look for ways of cutting costs of their components. Not all of them tell the manufacturers what they are doing to the parts in order to achieve the required savings, so that they maintain (or improve) their profit ratio......... -
Two Gates - if the tyres are NOT unidirectional, may be worth having them switched round on the rims so that the outside edge becomed the inside etc. OK so it may cost a tenner at a tyre fitters, but it should prolong their life a bit.....

TPS is built into the accelerator pedal assembly; actually, a misnomer on diesels as they don't have a throttle (in the true engineering sense of what a throttle is). ....and don't ask me where the misnomer is fitted on the diesels  -
First thing to check is the fluid level - have you done that yet - both when cold and warm? Don't know the 'box myself, but does it have a dipstick, or is this a dealer-only job?

IIRC someone posed a similar question recently and ones sold by VW dealers work out at around

Check that the dealer has got the car - One place where I worked, the AA "lost" a car being recovered to a dealer - it was sitting in one of the AA yards awaitng transfer to another truck for the next part of its long recovery journey from Manchester to Swindon...... The AA don't use the same truck for a long recovery operation, the trucks only cover a certain area so they use transfers.

Welcome - No, this is not typical (well, mine doesn't do it anyway). Possible MAF sensor fault, or throttle position sensor? -

I had the same problem when I bought mine - insurers database said 110 whereas it is a 115 (early facelifted model on X-plate).

Has The Aux Belt Changed On The Mk11?
Ivor_E_Tower replied to Bigjeeze's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The V5 should give the VIN number and the engine number separately; your local Ford dealer should be able to give you the engine number from the VIN number or the registration number - try phoning them if not convenient to call in. -
Newbie Problem Paint Code
Ivor_E_Tower replied to djswells's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
The Ford parts counter should be able to tell you your paint code from the vehicle registration number; in my case (also metallic silver), the Ford touch-up paint was cheaper than the equivalent from Halfords. -

Galaxy Heater Matrix
Ivor_E_Tower replied to kwakzx62003's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Find a good blacksmith - start off by contacting your nearest riding stables or good old Yellow Pages. You appear to have done the hardest bit already - removing the dash - then take the matrix to the smithie who should be able to repair it for you. -
Alhambra Funny Clutch
Ivor_E_Tower replied to s2will's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sticking release bearing? Have you tried changing gear without using the clutch? (Don't forget to release the accelerator pedal before attempting this one.....) -
You need to take the door card off to investigate; arm yourself with some new card clips, a used kitchen spatula (wooden) that you can modify to prize the card off etc etc.... You may be lucky and find that the motor and serrated drive thingy have come apart - on the other hand, the drive thingy may be worn which means a whole new unit.......

V6 Ignition Coils !
Ivor_E_Tower replied to Pete2306's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
Uh oh - they are my local dealers too - the ones who took 3 attempts to fix my failed aircon under warranty. This garage has a very bad reputation locally - they have changed names and owners many times over the past 20 years, and yet their reputation still sticks. Person who works in same office as me has had the brake discs on his car, and his wife's, ruined as a result of this dealer's apparent incompetence - failed to fit correct replacement pads with warning sensors, failed to check pad wear at service because the pads didn't have the wear indicator system working; both cars had pad backing metal contacting the discs resulting in a need for new discs and pads...... I suppose it was bad news when Solomons went down the pan a few years ago; their reputation was better. Suggest you change dealer at once; Inchcape in Guildford seem much better, or could try the dealer in Wokingham which I think has changed names recently (Used to be Gowrings)? -
Auxhiliay Heater
Ivor_E_Tower replied to latrine's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Dual air con has air vents in the roof lining above the rear seats so that passengers can direct a stream of air to their individual heads - a bit like being on an aircraft. If you don't have these, you just have the "extra" rear heater unit that is either controlled by the 2 dials in the headlining above the middle row seats, or on climate control systems, the in-dash control unit.
