  1. He's probably seem a black switch on the floor under the accelerator pedal; all it does is shut off the aircon when you apply full throttle to reduce the load on the engine when you want MAX POWER :D
  2. ..or try a Toyota Previa. You could always try visiting your local Ford dealer first, having found out if they have a Galaxy in stock (new or used) and try arranging the empty cases in it.
  3. jkspoff, do you mean loose on floor under middle seat, or have you made a bracket to which it is fixed ?
  4. The problem is that Ford dealers do not have full access to all the features in VAG-com, which is probably why they told you that they cannot activate the cruise control, even if you buy and fit the new stalk etc. However, I think that you have found by now that it can be done ! Good luck.
  5. 18 cubic inches of space is tiny! That must be a mistake. All 7 seats are full size and you will get 7 adults in the car with no problem.....however, you will have to compromise onlegroom in the rearmlost seats to get 7 pieces of handluggage in; all 5 "rear" seats have a few inches of fore/aft sliding adjustment for altering legroom. Now if you don't mind stacking the luggage, and it is soft-sided (rather than rigid plastic, polycarbonate-type) you may get them all in. Alternatiely someone may have to place theirs on their lap ! ...and as to the Zafira - with all 7 seats in place, you can just about squeeze a nailfile in behind the rearmost seats (which are not designed for adults anyway).
  6. Does Mobil 1 meet 505.01? Last time I checked, it didn't say so on the bottle.
  7. ..and what else did they have to say? Any closer to diagnosing the problem ?
  8. All symbols flashing means that there is a fault - it does this for about 5 seconds then goes into normal mode. You also mention that the aircon doesn't get very cold so it does sound as if something is wrong. If you have a warranty get a diagnostic check done on it; if not, try a plea for help on this forum for someone iwth the software and a laptop (state the area where you live) ......
  9. I've had this on another car - was the release mechanism not fully releasing. Try sticking one of the other belt buckles into it and seeing if that frees it up. If not, a long thin-bladed screwdriver could be carefully inserted into the slot to check for obstructions. Go carefully, and good luck
  10. It's looking quite tempting; the "extra" money you get is roughly equal to all I get at the moment (before tax) ..... so a 100% increase in salary would certainly make me think very carefully !
  11. Have you checked that there is power to the glowplug, AND that the earth bonding is OK?
  12. No, anything but that !
  13. What are you going to run? Construction sites, water works or sewage works? I did a fair bit of consultancy work in the "good old days" for bits of Scottish Water's predecessors (Scottish Regional Council water services departments). Not sure that I fancy working on Lewis though; Aberdeen or Dundee, definitely :D
  14. Get a towbar for the rear, and a power winch for the front :D
  15. How old is the car ?
  16. Yes, but not if they have worn .....
  17. Unfortunately the aircon and wipers are two of the main problem areas on Galaxys and it appears that you have fallen foul of both of them already. In view of this, perhaps you should check under both front seats to make sure there are no swimming pools there, and check that if you have illuminated vanity mirrors, the lights go off when you close them up.
  18. Here we go again ..... (This was covered last year IIRC). According to some dealers, the doors/windows are different on Mk I and Mk II However, some of us know different .......
  19. "equates to" - the MoT does not require the handbrake to be tested to see if it will hold the car on an incline.
  20. ...and you will have fun finding a screwdriver to fit that rearmost screw. I can now confirm that without it being replaced, there is no rattle, so I am well prepared for the next time I need to change a bulb in this cluster ! I was also surprised at the amount of "junk" I had to remove from behind the trim panel - first aid kit, warning triangle, wheelbrace spider, long arm wheelnut removal tool, various rags etc etc - this increased substantiallt the time taken to change the bulb, and of course re-fitting it all in afterwards was much harder than pulling the bits out in the first place !
  21. This is a "hoary chestnut"; properly maintained, there is no reason why the injectors shouldn't last for a few hundred thousand miles. Relax.
  22. After switching off, the noise you hear is an electric water pump that ensures no hotrspots in the engine and also ensures that the turbo bearings are kept cool so that the oil isn't carbonised - turbos run very fast (over 100,000 rpm) and the bearings get very hot !
  23. Is the cost to overhaul dependent on what parts actually get changed? How does it compare on price with a "genuine" exchange reconditioned box? - and it is wise to have the clutch changed at the same time, unless it looks like it was only recently changed.
  24. If you have a gas tank under the rear, you won't have the bolt head under the flap - it is part of the winch mechanism which is easy to fit. Check that the gas tank has been isolated, then you can have it safely removed.
