Tyre (tire) Rotation
Ivor_E_Tower replied to edwardoplunkett's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Some years ago I read that rotating tyres was considered a bad idea as they "bed in" according to camber etc. So I never rotate mine and just hope that they don't all wear out at once, since that will prove somewhat expensive ! -
Don't forget this ! OK to buy second-hand if a good lpg systemn is already fitted, but to pay to have one fitted yourself .....
-
...but seriously, for a "quick fix" try some of that plastic table cloth on a roll, just get a length of about 1 metre and drape it over the folded middle seat.

Quick trip to B&Q, some plywood, other bits of timber... Just check that my saw is still sharp........

Starting Problems On Galaxy 2.0 Auto

Have you checked the gearbox ("in-gear") inhibitor switch yet ? (It's at the base of the selector lever, inside the car) -
..and I saw an advert today for a company claiming to get 180bhp (or should that be PS?) from the TDI 150 diesel engine

Rear Luggage Cover/parcel Shelf

You can get trim panels repaired - try yellow pages or google for "smart" repairers (a bit like Chips Away, but for interiors). HTH Ivor -
How easy is it to remove the trim around the inertia reel to see how much water is there, and where it might be coming from?

That's my little secret ! B)

But for what you are trying to do, size is everything. You really need to see potential replacements "in the flesh" and a visit to a specialist will be the only "easy" way, short of being very lucky or finding an internet seller who is interested in giving personal service.

Auto - Holding On
Ivor_E_Tower replied to dipsomaniac's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thought (1): Phone round independent auto box specialists until you get one that appears to know about the Ford Galaxy auto box; use them Thought (2): Risk using a main delaer for the work, so long as they give you a very good warranty on the work they do Thought (3): Trade the Galaxy in now for a newer one that appears to drive better ! -
Cd Changer Cartridge Keeps Popping Out
Ivor_E_Tower replied to johnkg's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
IIRC just 2 fairly simple brackets to hold it in the rear bin; try making some from chair repair brackets from B&Q or Homebase. -
Must be possible to replace them but you will need to find units the same size or slightly larger , then work out how to remove the existing ones. Have you tried any local in-car multimedia specialists?

Hard plastic glue from your local DIY place may work. If not, try scrappies for a non-working unit (or the dreaded e-bay). Happy hunting ! (and happy glue-ing; somehow gluing and glueing don't look right!) -
Non Shalaxy Question (again)

506.01 is the oil for "extended drain intervals" ie computer tells you when to have the oil changed - could be up to 2 years or 24,000 miles. The oil is Castrol SLX II, available in Halfords. Castrol developed the oil for VW - if in doubt, call the Castrol UK helpline 01793 45 22 22 -
sgs - next time this happens, try getting out and locking the car, unlocking, locking and unlocking again. Then see if it starts OK.

Auto button is jammed in ? -
Have recently heard a few odd stories surrounding 406 cooling fans; is there a Pug forum you can visit as the answer is bound to be known and widely awailable to Pug drivers.

50,000 Service
Ivor_E_Tower replied to deadpool2e's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
Oil - Ford SD or any oil that meets VW spec 505.01, and make sure that they use the right stuff ! Aircon - ask them how much they will charge, are you sure it is just a re-gas that is needed? If you have been driving with low/no gas for a while, with A/C switched on, you may need new compressor too (not cheap). Try yellow pages for car aircon specialists, phone round a few and get an idea of who seems to know what they are talking about. It has also been suggested on this forum (several times now) that Tractor service places will re-gas aircon for much less than car aircon specialists. -
...and how much do you think a set of 17, 18 or 19 inch wheels is going to cost, and that's before you start pricing up tyres to go on them ........

Bit Of A Wobble On The Steering Wheel
Ivor_E_Tower replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The tyres may not have been perfectly round when they were made. In the "good old days" you were always told to bring them back for re-balancing after a thousand miles or so. Suggest that you may be suffering from this type of problem (although you may have lost a balance weight); try a re-balance first to see if the problem goes away. -

Tee hee !!! -
Yes, it could be that it just needs re-gassing but it could also be something else; you may also need to get a dealer to reset the system to clear the fault code :D .
