couple of weeks ago in auto express they done an article about fuel consumption iirc it was along the lines of not keeping the revs below a certain rpm and they(the mag)were amazed on how much better there mpg was,you might be able to view it on line,made interesting reading.

might be worth paul(if you have the time and patients)to detail your fix so it could be included in the faq section? sounds like it could save peeps a fortune.

still be worth having the code to the original stereo unless you dont mind leaving the new one in when the time comes to sell your car.

have checked and both keys have the immobilizer present,can vag com do the job? have tried to fool the system by inserting working key twice then inserting new key but no joy.
