You've grossly overfilled your autobox! Do a search and you will find that the drainplug is a 2 piece affair, undo 1st bit (inner IIRC) and it acts as the level measuring device for the box (fill until oil just starts coming out)

Any car with a similar sill(y) design (welded lip facing down) is likely to suffer the same damage. This includes most cars made by VAG and also my Vauxhall Corsa :P 2 weeks after taking delivery got a nail in tyre - took to tyre depot - instant cill damage - "...thats the official place to jack the car - its reinforced..." - What a twat!

Possibly clutch release bearing a little noisy. Not worth doing anything about unless it develops into a loud noise - which may never happen.

Violent Vibration When Pulling Away
seatkid replied to moc's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Check the roll restrictor with someone revving the engine. The bolt can shear, but still look as if its in place...... -
Are you looking at the wrong end? I think the error code may refer to the pedal end. I would check electrical connections here, sounds as if the kickdown switch maybe showing permanently on. Also check electrical connections near the throttle body.

perhaps you could describe the noise, "a little noise" is not very helpful

You have to take screws out and lower the front board (layer) to get access to the layer(s) underneath. Its described in detail somewhere on this forum.

The car will lock automatically after about 1-2 mins if you unlock but dont open a door. So, I summise that a doorswitch is not working.

Need Help In Wiring Up An Alarm!
seatkid replied to chicken_arse_legs's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
yep especially when the alarm was only available as standard on the Ultima model in 97 and before and after that it was an option across the range not standard fit unless you had the VR6  Not true. -

No MkII has under bonnet light but the bonnet switch is standard in these and the 2 poles are connected in parallel. Need Help In Wiring Up An Alarm!

I had a 96 model Alhambra - it was not fitted - a simple termination plug was fitted. I may be wrong but, IIRC, the bonnet switch was only fitted on top of the range Ford/VW models at that time, along with the engine light and the internal ultrasonic sensors. Theres no point in recommending a procedure that relies on an Option being fitted. -
I Want To Whistle
seatkid replied to chicken_arse_legs's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
White smoke is generally due to the timing being out which can be due to number of reasons (bad cambelt change or loose crankshaft pulley being 2 of them). Also could be due to low compression (worn out engine), or faulty injectors/pump. If you got white smoke, its unlikely to go away. In your case the symptoms look like low compression (a shagged engine). -

Need Help In Wiring Up An Alarm!

Seesh! Mirez, As I said earlier the bonnet switch is an option not likely fitted on Chickens car. :) Chicken.....follow the procedure I suggested! :) Think about it. :) 1. If you have the correct key then you are not the thief. 2. If you are in the car and lock yourself in, you are not a thief. 3. If you lock it from the outside the deadlocks are engaged and it cant be opened via an open window - If you "double lock" the car (turn key to lock position again a few seconds after first locking), then you can disable the dealocks. (the indicators flash to acknowledge this) You might want to do this if you want to leave your kids in the car for example. You can also put your key into the ignition and turn it on to release the deadlocks. 4. Generally speaking thieves BREAK INTO your car. Hence the procedure I outlined to demonstrate the alarm. 5. You do not have the ultrasonic sensors.... which if you had detect movement inside the car and are not set off by banging on the car. :) I give up...... -
I Want To Whistle
seatkid replied to chicken_arse_legs's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
If you can do 100mph, your turbo is fine (AHU top speed is 99mph). A properly balanced turbo does not whistle, the most your likely to hear is a hiss from the main air pipework. A whistling turbo is one that is unbalanced and/or poorly. Clutches wear out not in! -
Need Help In Wiring Up An Alarm!
seatkid replied to chicken_arse_legs's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
:) A thief is hardly likely to have your key! Sorry but you have no appreciation of how a modern immobiliser works...... When you put the key in the ignition and start it, the immobiliser interrogates the key pats and if the handshake was successful, then the ecu powers up and cancels down the alarmed/immobilised state. The B pillar ultrasonic sensors are not standard but I think there is a basic alarm. Try to lock the car with the drivers door open but holding the door switch closed. Then release the door switch 10 seconds later to simulate the door being forced open. Does the alarm (horn) go off? Also its probably possible to retrofit the bonnet lift switch (optional) to protect the engine bay. I think the circuit above looks as if its designed for a 1980's car. I wouldnt be surprised if the ECU and central locking would object to this device being attached and as for an "ignition cut off", thats just asking for trouble. I had a 1976 passat fitted up with a shock sensor alarm in 1978, used to wake me up 2-3 times every night! -
Misfires On Petrol Engines

Silly poll. Everyone knows that when you get a misfire on a petrol engine, the recommended thing is to throw the car away and buy a brand new one..... -

The bergen tool is the correct type, and you can get it for -
Rotten egg smell is unburnt fuel being cooked in cat (Hydrogen sulphide). You are not firing on one or more cylinders. Coil pack problem. Extended use of the engine with a misfire will damage the cat.
