  1. F103 60A auxiliary heating goes to central junction box to several fuses f7 to f12 Powers things like heated seats and trailer socket where fitted Check first by pulling fuses f7,f8,f9,f10,f11,f12 in the fuse box
  2. I think gregers has an unhealthy interest :10: in mo4.....watch out.. ... :D
  3. Theres no relay 30 on a 1.9 tdi..... I think you need to explain the exact circumstances when it cuts out if you want someone to try and help. Is it reproducible or is it random or intermittent. At idle or at speed etc etc...
  4. Try a search of the forum, plenty of detailed explanation and probably pics too. You get to the pack via the glovebox.
  5. Needed at sometime or another when in middle of nowhere... 1 litre of engine oil Warning triangle Reflective vest Good quality extendible wheelbrace (don't forget the locking wheelnut socket) Medium size philips screwdriver Spare bulb kit First aid kit Tow rope Jump leads Bottle of Water The book that contains all the dealer address/phone numbers. Also ideally but not essential..... 6. IIRC all the "rubber" pipes at the rear of the engine are all to do with the vacuum coontrol system for the turbocharger. The small diameter ones are covered in braided fabric and the the larger diameter are semi rigid plastic. All are reinforced so they dont collapse internally due to the vacuum. A leak in one of these will lead to "turbo trip out" otherwise known as "limp home mode"
  7. High petrol prices are good for us, says Cabinet minister and so are high VED rates! :)
  8. Probably a rhetorical question by El Dingo but following the announcement by the US fed on Sunday of US taxpayer support for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, GLOBAL MELTDOWN IS NOW ALMOST INEVITABLE. For those that don't know, this is similar to a Northern Rock Bail out, except the two instutions have
  9. Where's the petition to increase VED even further for all those whingers that complain? And I would sign that petition to tax everyone earning more than
  10. And in other news today..... Another one bites the dust!! This is but the tip of the iceberg
  11. The thought police (thinkpol) are on to you! :)
  12. Just about every modern car with an ECU, and that includes the Galaxy cuts the fuel on "over run". This is determined by the ECU control software, but basically if your engine is spinning above idle speed (950 rpm in Mk1 diesels) and you lift the accelerator, zero fuel is injected. As soon as you put you foot on the accelerator or the revs dip below the idle speed, fuel injection resumes. This happens seamlessly on a stroke by stroke basis, so you will generally will not be aware that this happens. Depending on circumstances, it may be more economical to "coast" or to use engine braking (i.e. lift off the accelerator and use the fuel cut off). As a rule of thumb if you have to lose speed and use the footbrake as you approach a junction or roundabout, use engine braking as much as possible (in addition to foot brake), work the gearbox as you approach, you will be using no fuel during this period. On the other hand if you have a long straight run, where the speed loss is over a longish distance (several hundred metres), it may be more economical to coast with the engine idling. :) I must say that I strongly believe coasting in a modern car is a perfectly safe practice (in most instances), and please don't wind me up by posting "when coasting, you are not in full control of your car", you may not be but I am sure that I am! :)
  13. such as this? or this? Maybe you're waiting for some exciting new posts about MAFs or windscreen wiper mechanisms..... Or maybe we need a few members to start bragging about the length of their the 35 bhp they reckon their filter mod gives......or discuss how fantastic top gear is....... B) - That kind of drivel is what I can do without.
  14. what the price or the 5p off voucher?? The 5p off voucher is true! - offer open until July 8 I strongly suspect that the price of fuel will come down late in the year by possibly a significant margin. Why? Because the the US and UK Treasury is now investigating the role of speculators in driving the price of crude up and..... In the US (and probably shortly in the UK) you can pre-puchase fuel for use in the future at todays prices, sounds suspiciously like the people who cooked up "precipice bonds" in the early 2000's are looking at another opportunity.....
  15. Cruise control all the way at an indicated 56 mph (actual is 55mph). Monday afternoon out of Central London took 1 and a half hours crawling......it would be quicker to walk :) , at least you can shout abuse at all the smart alec tossers, safe in the knowledge that they don't understand you. All I'm trying to put across to people is, no matter what car you drive, with careful driving and forward planning (i.e. avoid harsh braking) its possible to achieve quite spectacular mpg. Just limit your top speed, you'd be surprised at how little time is added to the journey. The price of fuel is going to continue upwards..........
  16. :) bless em!
  17. Sunday went down to Central London via Lincoln 200 miles 61mpg  Monday back up same route 59mpg. And I didnt get overtaken by a single HGV or caravan, quite the opposite. So it is correct to say going DOWN to London :) London is a shithole - wouldnt live/work there even if they paid me megabucks........
  18. I disagree......only because you said it was FREE.... :o
  19. 1. Vacuum leak - lots of pipework to check...... 2. Sticky turbo vane actuator
  20. Even less with a 5p off voucher........ Just a rumour.....
  21. positive deviation means turbo overboost. Could be 1. sticky variable vane actuator mechanism (it could be worn out) 2. sticky turbo control solenoid (TCS) 3. Loose vacuum connection, check the turbo control vacuum reservoir (IIRC tennis ball size sphere) in front of the engine block, one or two have reported a loose fitting bung... 4. check the small pipe to the back of the air filter box, this is the "atmosphere" connection to the TCS, check its not blocked and the air box connection is clear. 5. It may pay to check your main air pipework e.g. clips at the intercooler etc. From your description sounds like the ECU is struggling to keep the boost constant (oscillating between too much and too little, eventually tripping on an overshoot)
  22. From the 27/05/08 a new system of electronic bank payments called "The Faster Payments Service" has supposedly been replacing the old BACS system which as most of you probably know requires 3-4 working days for money to magic itself from one place to another in the UK. The new system promises transfers/payments within "hours". Has anyone found this to be the case? Despite checking that the sort codes support the new system I find that the banks are ignoring the new system. In fact it appears Halifax (HBOS) has gone out of its way to make sure that any transfer/payment you request online now only gets started at the end of the next working day! So, if you make a transfer/payment request on Friday morning (or late Thursday evening), nothing will happen until the end of Monday!! Does this say something about the financial state of HBOS??
  23. Well its been a long time coming but something tells me that this finally is the big one........ :)
  24. sorry.....must read the whole thread next time!!! :)
