  1. There is a rumour that Ford has taken on some ex-Airbus designers and the new Galaxy will in fact be a double decker design seating up to 25 people, complete with hottub and a minibar. ;)
  2. Why are we talking about Rovers? :) I had a trike once.....I was three years old at the time and.....
  3. Next time, (if there is a next time!), take your own oil, making sure you get them to quote a proper reduction in price first. My Skoda 1.2 -
  4. Could be broken wire in tailgate loom, isnt car under warranty?
  5. Fill the transaxle with manual transmission fluid until the oil level is just below the bottom of the filler hole.
  6. Double check that oil! 6 speed boxes are made by VW and use (AFAIK) conventional gearbox oil (spec N052171VX00 ). The 5 speed box is made by Ford and uses a very special Ford spec oil (spec WSD-M2C200-C).......
  7. Lets make this perfectly clear...... MK 1 Models only (i.e. old shape before 2000.75) DUAL LCD TEMPERATURE CONTROLS DOES NOT MEAN DUAL A/C. Most galaxies (98-00) fitted with C/C have a dual LCD panel as standard, the rear control bit is just for the rear floor level fan/heater. AFAIK If your car has the optional dual a/c (which is very rare - IIRC it used to be cost about
  8. They don't, you do. Its dual zone temperature control. No ability to cool in the back. It is just a heater and a fan and its permanently in recirc mode.
  9. As the germans say....haben sie eine gute fahrt :D
  10. It needs to be refilled correctly, i.e. emptied using a vacuum pump (checked for leaks) and refilled with the correct amount of refridgerant.
  11. So do ordinary alloys, its called lacquer. A 4yr old factory alloy shouldnt "go porous". Whats with this reseating/gluing malarky? Sounds like your ham fisted tyre fitter has damaged your wheel. Go to a good tyre depot, Get it stripped down and inspect the rim/bead and valve seat thoroughly. Always fit a brand new valve (some cowboys refit old valves - which always leak) of the correct length (short for alloys)
  12. great wheels/audible kerb detectors.... :D
  13. Instead of using glue and chewing gum, why don't you just go to a good tyre depot and get it fixed properly :D And how about using the spare?
  14. Not a good idea to "refill" a non working a/c with the DIY kit. If it was empty it probably was full of air, and you will now have a mix of air and R134A......
  15. I wonder if adding a bottle of Wilko paint stripper would improve my mpg?
  16. If the cambelt "jumps" a tooth, you're in big trouble.......
  17. Probably auxillary belt tensioner.
  18. Contaminated disc(s)? Try plently of brake cleaner.
  19. Not a vacuum pipe as pedal would not go down to floor but just be hard. It could be master cylinder but also could be a fluid leak/air in system, You had to pump to refill the braking system. Check the level in the reservoir, has it gone down? Full visual inspection of braking system is recommended. Don't drive until you get to and fix the problem.
  20. Sounds like a dry/failing clutch thrust bearing.
  21. Probably a faulty or dirty idle control valve (ICV).
  22. Change the oil without changing the filter?
  23. Unless I'm wrong the fuel pump on the diesels is a mechanical one mounted on the engine - not electrical in the tank or otherwise - thats petrol. Think again.
  24. aahh....tunes make you breathe more easily......
  25. Could be many things but first of all eliminate any ignition problems - plugs and leads - has it been serviced recently?
