Creating a timer for it is very simple, there are proprietry chips that will do this or use a PIC chip. I would favour the PIC chip because you can make it do lots of other functions as well like measuring interior and exterior temps. Send me a PM if you want help with this. Regards - John

EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) can give these sort of symptoms. I had it on my Cosworth Ultima and had to fit a new valve in the end. Dunno where on the Gal it is because I have a diesel, you should find a pipe from the exhaust manifold connecting to the inlet manifold with a valve on it. They sometimes physically stick open or the controlling device sticks. Regards - John

Problem with over fuelling due to sensor (or maybe CAT) damage caused by being driven on 2 cylinders ? Regards - John

Nurse get the screens, send for the doctors this patient needs a life (or putting down).

But this IS a forum for shalaxies and I DO like the design of my GAL, the Reanult iscrap sorry er Espace forum is only a few clicks away and there he will find like minded people that all drool over their beloved Renaults.

But it would be fair to say, the environmental conditions for the alternator mounting bolts are nowhere near as harsh as the glowplug. Alloy heads are always a nightmare with things like this especially when differing materials are involved. Usually a good application of copper based grease helps but never seems to cure it completely. Now cast iron heads on the other hand ........

http://www.bps-comp.de/assets/images/Renault-Espace-03.jpg Er like yes, very similar to Fords failures like the Ultima, Ford have however now moved on.            Glad I don't have to look at one of these on my drive, in fact I think if I was made to have one I'd park it round the corner.

Not quite, at least I'm in the right forum !! You talk about strange designs have a good look back at Renault, talk about people who live in glass houses. Strange how you views have changed, at the start of this thread it was a close choice now you're flaming the shalaxies...... If you want support for you Renault Escrap then go find a forum, I don't think you'll find support for the weird french design here. TTFN - John

You're right on all aspects re HID's BUT, I fitted replacement bulbs, ballasts etc to wifeys Ultima estate, the difference was incredible, every bit as good (if not better) than the factory fitted HID's on my Gal. It's had 2 MOT's since I did the conversion and passed without even a mention ! Regards - JB

You're a very, very, naughty boy..... I suppose you'll be moving on to towing a 26' caravan next to really annoy other drivers

That would mean you could only drive at night cos they tend to sleep all day ? Amazing where these topics go, now what could we link to next ........? Regards - JB

Engine Torque alone is pretty meaningless when talking about performance. Torque is merely the rotational force, the important measure is the rate of how fast work can be done which is Torque x Angular Velocity (force x speed). A 100g Hamster in a 700m diameter wheel could produce around 330nM of torque. 330nM at 2000 rpm is the same output as 110nM at 6000 rpm. Agreed BUT when you're getting off the line the torque at low revs fits the bill nicely as it does when cruising. It may be a subjective thing but the 60 to 80 time seems very, very short and the engine barely above tickover.... well alright then 2500 ish. My last car was a 2.9 Cosworth Ultima Estate, that engine was absolutely stunning performance wise, I can honestly say I don't miss it at all with this 1.9 TDi. Caio - JB

Any Paint Experts? Need Some Advice

Tell the insurance company you want to take it somewhere else, suggest a company and see what they say. I can forsee there *may* be a problem because they would be putting pressure on the original repairer to do the work F.O.C. obviously going elsewhere they're going to have to pay again. Be a pain, stand your ground and warn them if they insist on using this second rate repairer that if it isn't right this time that you will take it to a reputable repairer, have the work done, hire a car whilst yours is there and sue them for the full cost of repairs, the hire car and compensation for all of your time, trouble and stress. Go for it. Regards - JB -
Get one of the better models where ESP and traction control will prevent the wheels from slipping. One look at the fuel figures going less than 30 does the trick

Slight exaggeration...... I'd have to disagree with you, if I stand on the loud pedal from the lights I can get smoke off my tyres until it changes to 2nd. I think the torque from the diesel makes it a much quicker car round town. Remeber the ST220 (v6, 24V) in the Mondeo produces 270nM Torque at 4500 rpm, the 115 TDi in the Gal 330nM @ 1900 rpm from memory. Regards - JB

I'd head towards a Diesel not a 2.3, shed loads of wheelspinning torque and lots of empeegee's !! Regards - JB

Not if you drive an MCC Smart car you wont !!

 I did and it all sounds about right and pretty much my experience so far. Still at least when (if) it does go wrong I have plenty of dealers to choose from, can talk to head office in my native tongue and I have a nice looking car on my drive instead of some freeky design that nicked it's back window design from a 1960's Ford Anglia       Obviously the arrogance is infecting him already, spouting off about a crappy French car in this forum.... what a cheek.

They did two jobs for me one on a Range Rover, one on a Granada, both metallic green. One word sums it up CRAP. I could have done a better job with a cheapo aerosol can from Halfrauds. One job they did do that was incredible was a repair to a torn leather seat, it was almost invisible. For the paint do it yourself or go elsewhere. Regards - JB -
