Then you need to get your system looked at, either the compressor is knackered or it's leaked some of the gas. The compressor should cycle regularly, it does on my gal and on my last 10 or 12 cars that have had aircon / cc. Yes the 200 psi does describe the hp side of it and that's exactly where the front seal of the compressor is which is why you need it to be well lubed and supple in order for it to seal efficiently. When it is stationary for a long time it sticks to the shaft and becomes hard and brittle which affects it's performance dramatically. Anyway you know what they say about Yorkshire men "You can always tell a Yorkshireman..... but yer can't tell im much" Regards - JB

Sorry to disagree, no infact I'm happy to disagree, you're talking the bollocks! 1) The compressor does NOT run continuously, if it does you have a fault on your system - gas leak, faulty thermo control valve etc etc. 20 Air con compressors SHOULD be run frequently to stop the seals drying out. You compare it to a heating system and say yours doesn't leak, pump it up to 200 psi like the aircon and I bet it would leak then ! Chill out, have a drink and stand corrected ;) Regards - JB

No problem, unusal for you to be slightly wrong, I suspect you've forgotten more than most of us will ever know! Regards - JB

That being the case, how would you know if the bulb had failed ????

Have to disagree, it's the dipped beams that are HID's and the mains that are added in Bi. Regards - JB

V6 Autobox Replacement Problem
johnb80 replied to mattux's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Whilst not knowing the full system on the V6 Gal, without the correct speed pulse it's very likely that the torque converter won't lock up in 3rd and 4th gear which would result in a much higher thirst and higher revs. # Regards - JB -
Usually if there is one in a vehicle it will illuminate when the ignition is switched on and extinguish shortly after unless there is a fault. Some lowlifes remove the bulb or disconnect it if there's a problem and theyre selling the car. Regards - JB

Now I know you're not telling the truth, they NEVER play music on radio 1, it's the noise of a factory where they're hammering sheds together ;) On the heater front, no thats not right. Regards - JB

Seating Positions When Travelling
johnb80 replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It's a funny old world, rear facing seats are by far the safest seats and indeed the requirements for 3 point seatbelt very much reduced. It just seems that the majority of the public don't understand or don't like the idea of travelling backwards, hence why busses, aircraft, most trains etc all have forward facing seats. I was lucky enough to be in a rear facing seat during a mishap with a train, the forces involved were unbeleivable, people in forward facing seats were going all over the place, their injuries were serious. Apart from very minor whiplash I was fine and helped people from the train and had no further problems after 3 days or so. Not sure how the law stands under construction and use, I think from memory though the Gal manual states that all seats should face forward when in motion, there are other implications with the airbas, especiall the side impact ones in the seats if fitted, you'd blow the driver away and not protect the passenger. Contact Ford Customer Relations dept and ask for the name of the dealer principal for your dealer. Write to hime recorded delivery a letter saying "I have ben advised to give you x days to make good the fault workmanship and damage to my vehicle." Then go on to explain the whole situation and finally add that whilst your car is in their 'care' you would like a courtesy Galaxy / Mondeo (you need the space). The wind up the letter by stating that failure to contact you within the next 7 days will result in court action to remedy the situation. It has worked for me on 2 occasions, one of which resulted in a 130TDi (manual yuk) for 10 weeks, managed nearly 8000 miles! whilst they sorted my Cosworth Ultima Estate. Go for it, don't stand for any crap. Regards - John

VAriety they say is the spice of life, we should all live a good long time on here ! My viewpoint is very simple, my company makes products and provides services to other companies, we do this by buying time and skills from people i.e. staff. We then sell on those skills at an increased price which makes our profit. The company does as it sees fit with the profit (thats why I have a shiny black TDi 115) why on earth should I require my staff to buy our products ? no need, they've done their bit, they do in fact buy our products because we're always cheaper (trade price) and they know theyre top quality (we're not the cheapest on PC's but we are the best in the area from a quality point of view). Regards - John

What job do I do? I actually have three, 2 paid and one voluntary. The main day job I work in a school of Technology as a network manager looking after 250 PC's, 3 servers and 600 pupils. I get involved in teaching from time to time. Not a lot of ways I can use my employers products here except one of my boys goes to my school, the other boy goes to another school in town so I suppose the fact that the local council employ me and operate both schools I'm covered by your rules. The next job which used to be my main job is I'm M.D. of a computer consultancy that I started, I have created employment for 14 people and have a turnover of around

Well, actually, yes. You say you work for PSA but you buy a Ford. Your salary which keeps you and your family in mortgage payments, food and other nessesites is paid from people buying PSA cars but you use this money to buy a competitors vehicle. Hypocryte come to mind. No he's not a hypocryte. PSA pay him to use his skills to produce their cars the they sell as a business. What you suggest is complete madness that you should always buy your companies products, what about people that work in pharmaceuticals or tobacco etc etc would they have to become drug addicts and chain smokers? You could take this further, you live in the UK and YOU bought a foreign car so using your theory, the UK protects you, educates you, provides medical care BUT YOU didn't buy one of it's 'in house' products (yes I know it's nearly impossible now but it illustrates the point). Regards JB

I would have thought that it would be highly likely to suffer skipping problems over bumps etc, this would be worse if it was not mounted securely i.e. seatbacks. Good Luck - JB

Using Tmc On Factory Fitted Satnav
johnb80 replied to a topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
TMC works with a completely different receiver to the audio one. I have VDO SatNav fitted to my van and added the TMC option which included another (additional) antenna, a TMC module (plugged into the brain of the SATNAV) and then it all functioned. I don't know whether it's an option on the Ford unit but you shouldn't have to tune to any station. Regards - John -
It's most likely a faulty wheel sensor or wiring, usually disconnecting and reconnecting will be enough to fix it. The reason for opening the bleed nipple is to stop fluid being forced back through the abs unit, in some cars seals in the master cylinder can be flipped inverted by this, dunno if thats true of the Gal. Nothing to do with dirt etc which shouldn't be there in the firstplace. Regards - JB

Air conditioning uses a compressor to pump heat out of the cabin. Climate Control uses the same compressor but is 'intelligent'??? and will use either the compressor to cool and de-humidify or the hot water from the engine to heat the cabin. It will use BOTH heating and cooling when it needs to de-humidify the cabin. The slow warm up could be - The aux heater not working, the thermostat stuck open, the cooling fans on all of thge time, the engine not running  Regards - John

Car Radio Universal Code Calculator
johnb80 replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It would seem to me a simple problem to solve. Ford dealers should make no charge for providing the code when you turn up with the vehicle, logbook and proof of ID. No-one would have any just cause for having the software, we could all sleep easy in our beds knowing that no-one could use our stolen radio. Regards - JB P.S. Yes I do have a code cracker, yes it works well and I can fully appreciate or useful to the lowlifer's it would be. -
Glad to hear you're up and running without too much pain in the wallet. Regards - John

Dunno what you're asking here, the sensors are the standard Ford ones, the towbar is a towsure.
