So sorry to hear of your loss, you have to believe he has gone on to a nicer place and therefore feel happy for him. The only tips I can give you on the reading etc is what has worked for me on the occasions that I have been in this situation. Head up high, deep, slow breaths especially when you start to feel upset. Look up to the far corner of the roof and speak very slowly and loud. As you start to break down, don't worry or feel embarrased, take a moment, do the breathing, compose yourself and continue. Like mumof4 said, people will understand and will appreciate the reading being done. I used to play the organ at my church, funerals never really bothered me I used to play all the usual hymns. It was a sort of odd feeling being there but not involved directly. A young boy (9 yrs old) was killed in an accident, I was absolutely fine until I saw the coffin. I was playing at his parent request 'You'' never walk alone' as the coffin came into church, I don't think I managed more than 2 lines of it, I couldn't see to read the music. It was on the evening news, calendar if remember rightly I received a lot of mail from people telling me I shouldn't be embarrassed, that it showed real feeling etc etc. I struggled on through the rest of the service and I managed a reading, I felt much better afterwards having done all of that. Like mumof4 said, think of the good times. Regards - J

Hi Chaps, Chapesses and Mumof4 You're all wrong, mumof4 being closest. 1) You don't need any sort of license or permission to fly a model aircraft until you reach the heavy / large models 20Kg+ 2) There are no 'licenses' as such only tests operated by the BMFA / Large Model Association, the BMFA ones are referred to as Achievement certificates and the LMA ones certificates of competence. 3) You dont have to have insurance (it is advisable though). 4) Some clubs (mine included) require the 'A' cert as minimum for solo flying, if you don't have an 'A' you must have someone stood with you while you fly. 5) There is no time restriction between 'A' and 'B' tests, in fact you don't have to take the 'A' at all, some people have gone straight to the 'B' ommiting the 'A' 6) The 'A' test consists of : The examination for an

Translations from mumof4 technical description so others might understand it. Had the car jacked up for me, I removed the wheel and noted that the long wheel bolt was at the top (Note, Vauxhall quality control sets a very low standard that they consistantly fail to reach, 4 bolts, one of em shorter than the others.... cool idea, does wonders for wheel balance etc.) (I do like those air gun thingy mebobs) Air impact wrench, she was everywhere with it like a kid with a new toy, even the dog was hiding his nuts just in case. Why?..coz i never did it...Had help from JB, thanking thee muchly who turned up with axle stands etc.. Well to say she never did it she managed to get pretty black hands, she did keep muttering about Haynes manuals and shoving screwdrivers in holes. Anyroad....on the left rear wheel, the disc had to come off as this bit was seized..( the adjuster bit) Had a few probs getting the caliper and disc off as a bolt was on very tight and there would have been no way i would have been able to get it off. Not so much the tightness it was the access to the bottom retaining bolt that was difficult due to metal brake pipe and spring in the vicinity. Anyway..a couple o pics Result is that the shoes were fine, the cable was tightened quite a lot as the wheels would move even with the handbrake on,The handbrake now works as it should. Am sure JB will have a few words to say judging by the amount of mutterings i heard about "bloody Vauxhalls being crap" Though a Vectra is definately not on my list of dream cars it was surprising to find that the cables and mechanism for the handbrake not siezed. The adjuster was a bit tight but freed off easily and the whole system worked well when adjusted correctly. Mumof4's servants kept the tea flowing and apart from bing punched by her doorstaff the job was almost a pleasure. Just remember that the little light on the dashboard isn't on because Mr Vauxhall thinks you need Christmas lights in there, it because you've left the bloody handbrake on. A good day was had by one and all. J -
I've got a MKII Gal 1.9 TDi, I looked at the MKIII and in fact had one on trial for a while, I didn't like it, how are you guys getting on with your MKIII's. My main dislikes are the lower roof at the back, seemingly thin seats and no spare tyre. I did like the engine though. Regards - J

Nah, you don't want that one, it's got one of them daft wiggly sticks in the middle and 3 pedals on the floor... weird! Regards - J -
And of course there the time wasted dealing with the rebelious ones :D more time wasted with kids that have Trouble With Attitude and Timekeeping, perhaps you wer/are one of those? Regards - J

Maybe I was but only a little. People are very selfish and I see it all the time, yes it's frustrating when we have to wait but just what is the alternative? For example you have a heart specialist, he's in great demand, his time is finite so what would you do have him wait for you? would you be happy with the longer waiting lists that this would create AND the extra tax burden? No, you like many others would complain about that too. Sorry if I'm coming on strong on this one, it does make my blood boil a bit. Regards - J

Thats a legal reuirement set by government NOT the schools I can NEVER remember MY schools being shut because of the snow yet my daughters schools have been closed on a dozen or more days because of bad weather. All the kids live less than a mile from school but I know that several of the teachers live 20 miles away so they probably think "its snowing...I cant be arsed to drive.... lets shut the school" The decision to close the school due to weather is taken by the Headteacher in conjunction with the schools senior management team. The decision is purely Health & Safety based and will take into account the conditions on site and the likelyhood of the staff getting to school. In my day and probably yours at school, snowball fights, slides like glass on playground were all part of winter fun, not any more. Snow balling is not allowed and ditto making slides. This is a H&S reuirement in the workplace and in some ways I agree, I'm a first aider in the school where I work and I've seen some pretty horiffic injuries from snow balling. Some of the not so nice little darlings make a snowball and keep compacting it and warming it slightly until it becomes an ice ball, when thrown it can cause serious injury, one particularly pretty girl in our school got hit by one of those at my school, it split her eyebrow open needing 22 stitches and also damaged her eye. We then get one set of parents complaining we shouldn't have opened the school another saying were being too harsh not allowing snow balling, You cant take your child out of school for a holiday during term time as "there education would suffer" but surely that depends on the type of holiday. A week on the beach in Benedorm probably wont teach them much but a holiday visiting places of interest is quite likely to teach them quite a bit. Short sighted, so you're happy for your child to miss a couple of weeks of all lessons to go on holiday, why can't you go when the school holidays are on, there's plenty of them for heavens sake. Teachers have enough workload planning lessons and delivering them with an ever changing national curriculum without having to make special provision for your child. Remember also it wont just be yours, it would be someone else the week after etc etc. Then when they come back they need additional help from the teacher to explain subject matter that they've missed. This takes the teacher away from the other 29 kids in the class who suffer because you took your kid away. I personally would fine parents that took kids out of school for a family holiday. Agree totally about the appointments. My doctor NEVER runs on time. I had the second appointment one da, it was 30 minutes late when he finally called me in. You cant tell me that the first person was in there for 40 minutes!!!! And I dont think I have ever got my full 10 minutes anyway !!!! Complain to the practice manager. It's entirely possible he was late for work on that occasion or had some form of emergency he had to deal with. Last night I had to take Amber to the hospital A&E department as she fell off her bike. We arrived at 8:10 and got seen at 10:15, by the time we had been to X-ray and back to A&E for a bandage we left at 11:15 I assume you're also complaining about this, I have direct experience in this area too as a First Responder working for the NHS. You only see one side of A&E, you don't see the other side where ambulances are bringing in more serious cases. A&E have finite staffing and resources a very quick assesment will have been done to decide how urgent your case was at 8:10, clearly it wasn't very high on the list compared to other casualties. What would you do? the fact that someones leg is hanging off allow them to bleed to death because Amber needs a bandage? Or are you saying they should be staffed better? I would agree they should have more staff, I suspect where our views would differ is that I'd be prepared to pay for it by way of taxation, I suspect you'd probably complain about that too. I find pretty much all of what you have written extremely selfish, you're only considering yourself and not looking at the bigger picture. The world is not perfect, we ALL need to work at making it a better place. Schools need the support of parents and parents need to understand school. Have you considered doing a first aid qualification? you could have avoided the trip to A&E, treated the casualty instantly which is much better and one day possibly save her life, do you know what to do if she started choking, or had a severe cut and started bleeding heavily or had a bump on the head and was unconcious? dial 999 of course you would, how long does the ambulance take? 5 mins? 10 mins? 15 mins?, I have waited 45 minutes with a cardiac arrest casualty who lived because of my first aid skills, everyone should do first aid, it would reduce considerably the workload on A&E. Rant mode off Regards - J

It had been running fine, for whatever reason there were 5 extremely short journeys, the heater was winding up each time, on the last one it ramped up and down 5 times and never lit up, now it doesn't even try. -

Which fuse ? sounds like a good plan. Regards - J -
Hi Guys, Gals and mumof4, Long time since I've been on here, what cable and software works best for resetting the aux heater which isn't working on our Gal. If you could give me links to suppliers I'd appreciate it as well as any guidance, I'm assuming the glowplug etc may be oiled up so remove clean it all out and then start it up, can this be done via software or do I need to short out the temp sensor? Disco is still running well, as is the Gal for that matter. Regards - J

Sorted it thanks. In the back of the pump there was an encapsulated circuit with three wires, I assume power, ground and data. The unit had an output to a solenoid which when powered directly allowed the motor to run, I assume it was all part of the anti theft system, not really very good, took about 10 minutes to defeat. Regards - J
-
Try here first then if you cant find what you want i will try and dig out some more info later tonight. Thanks neil, not quite what I wanted. On the pump in question there's 2 solenoids on the side and 3 wires coming out of the back. From the drawings I have, 2 of the wires out of the 3 feed the stop solenoid, when I connect these wires only 5mA of current flows suggesting that it isn't feeding a solenoid or the solenoid is u/s. The pump is circulating fuel but not injecting. Thanks in anticipation. Regards - J

I know it's not a Galaxy related question but I'm sure someone here will be able to point me in the right direction. I need to get hold of a parts diagram for a Bosch fuel injection pump used on a Ford Endura DE diesel engine, the engine is normall fitted to Escorts / Fiesta's circa 1995 or thereabouts. Many Thanks - John

Hi, Yes I own a couple of companies and have under my direct control 6 Transits and about 5 or 6 cars including my own. My statement about the menacing looks, it really would be suited for gangsters, have a look at one when it's rolling in traffic when the suspension is low ! Happy New Year to you all. Regards - John P.S. Ford have just lost the next batch of vans to Mercedes, not having a good time are they......

I didn't bother with the 7 seats, never used them anyway just need a big boot. I could have been tempted by the Audi Q7 or the Merc R Class, the rest are just tarts cars (no offence to tarts). The new Disco just looks so menacing when it's just rolling along :) Should have it by Friday. Regards - J Hi Guys & Gals, Just dropped by to wish you all a Merry Chrimbo, the Disco is running well, not as good as the Gal on MPG's but a lot quicker and much, much quieter. Have a good one and may your MAF's be trouble free in 2007. Regards - J
