ah I had a bbc b as a terminal emulator (kermit) when 23 at work (research) boy the days of castle quest and elite :( My first pc ran dos 3.3 - missed 4 (was dodgy) then 5 then - get this Windows 2.0 !!!!! windows 3.0 !!!!!!! neither worked very well as a gui then Win 3.1 win 3.11 and my next pc came with windows 95 next pc came with win 98 upgraded to se this machine had the fastest graphics card known to man

umm does sound like it could be battery - does need to crisply turn over, suppose if th battery was a bit low then it wouldn't preheat very well so repeated preheatting should improve it as per original reply ......

It iss possible to have an edit button active for a set time after posting e.g.15 minutes I wonder if this would be a reasonable compromise, it would certainly allow folks to correct spellings and other tipooos(sic) but stop the abuse of editting posts in a fit of pique when someone upsets them later (has happened a couple of times here recently) What it would not cover is the situation with the faq and mjrs computer install - certainly the computer install is a one off and a moderator could edit/merge posts together as they have with the faq over the last few months. In fact if mjr are wanted to add/edit at the momment all he would need to do is quote his original post add/change it and a moderator could then delete the original - ps tis may become unecessary given the appt of moderatos post but I am illustratuing the principle. comments ?

they used to be different from banks but legislation was brought into allow them to be banks (thatcher I think) so the same rules should apply - There was a specific distinction but I cant remember what it is but those which have current accounts are classedas banks IIRC

not unusual for the pump impeller to shear off its shaft but I like you would think s some gravity convection would occur. Suppose do the old trick of taking out the thermostat and popping it in some boiling water and seeing if it works would be your first job then suspect the pump.
