Just a thought you could have a look at the status of your exchange here This is courtesy of pusnet but still works for anybody
-
as usual its busy though I get busy 90% of the times I try this one !
-
interesting - certainly in my part of the east midlands I see no change between the day and night - I get some variation throughout the day (4.8M to 5.9M) but there is no pattern to it. Usually quiet times means a faster connection I suppose locally some kit could be taken off line for maintenance purposes. odd what did bt say about the whoosh test have you done if this still works

pick a door and ask 'if I asked the other door if it led to paradise what would it say' 1) If asked the lying door, the other door would have said yes and the lying door would have reported no so you go through the other door 2) If I asked the truful what the other would have said - lying door to hell would say yes and so the truthfull door would report yes and so you go throigh that door so ask the question if answer is yes go through that door if no go through other door my mother made me do 'progress papers whrn I was a kid - full of these problems

would have got to contended service reasons but at the time of his last posting 4.35 am unless his exchange is very popular for off peak - timed downloaders I would be very surprised that contention was limiting his bandwidth especially as his speed test was almost 1M at the time, while the forums are busy and bandwidth limitations at the forum end would not play a part again at the time (unless glen has got something else going on) probably worth checking local things first (well nowt you can do about contention anyway) Would be interested to know what the bt checker says for your number dave.!

umm Right those figures are fine for a 1M connection and since its not maxDsl of any variety probably cant put it down to that, assuming you get the same speed in the evenings (although you said it takes time to load smillies now / when you did the test I would say that as it happens on all fora then its more likely to be a browser/cache issue. What browser do you use ? Do you clear the temporary files at all? If you are using IE6 or IE7 I would experiment by trying firefox and see what the speed is like then - if it improves with a newly installed browser then it points towards the one you have having some probelems - (can always uninstall it afterwards). Go here and look for the square buttons below title bar Firefox with googlebar (there is a link on this site somewhere but I am at work and ads and links like that are blocked.

ok 1k is very slow try here and tell us what you get both numbers - there is a link to the result if you're not sure post that instead (at the bottom)

will give it a try weekend don't like keys in engine running bye bye car saga you'll still need engine running - switch in parrallel with temp sensor will just ensure it runs when warmer than the 5-10 degrees cut in temp cant you run the car with one set of keys and lock it with another? you canget a mains powered heate/pump in the circuit thoughwhich will get it warmed up first, thought that threading the car keys on to the cable would stop anybody driving it off with the cable still attached
-
how about in parallel with the external temp sensor (on passenger wiper linkage)
-
quite proud of the moon shot , liked adrians bird though

I reckon if disconnecting your maf has little effect its shot Ours when disconnected made a difference but a new one was still like driving a new car, cost

unfortunately a completely self sufficient house only saves you about 1.5 tonnes of the 11.1 tonnes per capita CO2 which uk inhabitants generate per year and thats assuming that cooking is by electric (bought back by your plan Glen)
