Anyone Else Foaming At Your Filler Cap?
NikpV replied to Jeff115's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
If this was a ford dealer he should be draining it out and replacing with ford formula sd - I've read several examples of dealers doing this - on the forum. Get in touch with ford or at least tell the dealer you have and see if they will cooperate. Out of a 5l container you should get about 0.5l back - I usually ask for this to do top ups between services and the 'wag' of a service manager usually makes some comment about oil in the passenger footwell. :D -
Sorry should have said, this was a problem with the instrument cluster we had a slightly older cluster than the car the mechanic did tell me the ford notifcation number at the time but did not write it down - sorry. He said he had to phone Ford in the end to find out the problem.

May be the same - quote from my post in september 2003 (for the purists here - I tried to do a link, but clicking on it gets you 'no file specified'

Luggage Net Aka Versatility Pack
NikpV replied to GT40Graham's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
We use ours sometimes, useful for keeping all the coats and the buggy upright behind seats 6&7 when we take my parents out with the kids - like to leave the middle row center seat out for picnic stuff, parents poodle etc. Works well the net stops all the junk falling out when opening the tailgate. -
there are rhs & lhs mirrors on ebay at the moment didn't notice the cost though, may be cheap enough to compete with just buying the bracket

Instrument Panel Misbehaving
NikpV replied to rwtomkins's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Lamps appear to be normal, but the low fuel gauge problem is still waiting for a fix, at least it was the last time we asked the local ford dealer (they tried two different clusters before Ford said that they were working on the fix) -

Why Have On/off For Cruise Control?
NikpV replied to buford_t_justice's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
generally leave it on as well, the only time I turn it off is when I want to disengage it and don't want to touch the brake pedal (rare but happens sometimes) since don't have a clutch pedal (auto). -
Door Ajar Message Reading Incorrect.......
NikpV replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
We had the same on our Gal until they switched the instrument pod (for other reasons) the new version corrected this - They also checked door switches etc but they were fine. Garage said it was a known fault on early facelift versions, turns out our instrument module was earlier than the car !! itself. Original post (I think) - see starts here I Think this is the one about incorrect door identification Here -
If it's suddenly started doing this then give them a wipe over - worked for ours a couple of weeks ago (according to SWMBO)

Ah the RES means RESUME I assumed with SET it would be RESET, RESUME makes more sense - Probably should have RTFM :( :D
-
Again - if it helps our Y-reg Ghia TDI has the 3 point system - not lap belts
-
PS - The SET/RESET +/- buttons don't seem very intuitive - but that may be me :(
-
Off - CC Off On - CC on (but not necessarily engaged) Res - Reset Button on end - Set With CC ON Press button on the end to set CC to current speed - Engaged. When engaged, pulling slide switch to RES will increase the set speed - car should accelerate to new speed. When engaged, pressing button on end will reduce set speed - car should decelerate to set speed. Note Brake pedal use will disengage CC - if its left 'ON' then pulling the slide switch to RES will engage the CC and set it to its last set speed. (Don't know if this is affected by turning to 'OFF' in the meantime. I don't know if this is okay but I drive with the Switch set to 'ON' all the time, this means that I can engage CC at will and usually disengage by pressing the brake pedal - lightly if trying to slow down for a distant hazard (change of speed limit etc) or more heavily if needed. Thoughts anybody.

I gather from the OP that its not working

Just before purchase our Gal had been sitting around for a month and within the first week we had this problem (could move selector when off but not with engine running) , call the AA and he wd40'ed the brake switch its been fine ever since (touching wood, crossing fingers).
