  1. even if the screws come a bit loose surely the pipe clip would stay on the other end, apparently it was hard enough to refit when changed
  2. surely if it was the airbox it should have minimum effect on engine management, I could see this if it was the back (clip) end as per SK & Mumof4 original posts totally perplexed here ;)
  3. yep - but I was trying to narrow it down a bit ;) :P ;) :P
  4. you're right, sorry I was assuming you were using 'full edit'
  5. wish ours was black ;) btw where was the picture taken BJ - looks kind of familiar
  6. new air-con clutch from frauds is over
  7. you can if you want but I'm too busy c...... ;) :P
  8. the editted this post checkbox has moved to the bottom ----- as for the low tension side, don't know enough about the feed on modern cars I would assume though that since we have fuses (loads) that any wiring which could carry enough current to melt and ignite insulation would have some fuse protection - but need to research this one - if I can find the time. The fact that fires do occur though indicates that the design is lacking somewhere
  9. when we got the gal I thought that sliding doors might be good but after watching someone trying to get themselves run over getting out of a car with sliding doors parked the wrong way around on a busy road I've changed my mind. ;)
  10. mk2 1.9 tdi are vw pd engines
  11. thanks perhaps I should paint him silver :D :D apparently chases tail forever :D :D
  12. true - simple physics - whatever the shape /size of the hole the oil will be at the same level provided 1) its not such a tight fit that capillary action occurs, and 2) pressure inside is at atmospheric - assume breathers handle this.
  13. interesting - there has been some speculation that the glowplugs fire up when the door is opened, could be part of the same thing but can't say I've ever heard anything wonder if a faulty temp sensor would get the after run pump going even if the engine was cold ???????????
  14. about time you did ;) :D
  15. got some bilson in-ear plugs if you need them :D (have 10month old so I can sympathise) ;) :D :D
  16. perhaps more people with silver galaxies vote in polls about the colour of their pride and joy ;)
  17. if not then I would not expect them to cause a fire then ie run from a current limitted source - at least the sensors, the output of the coils will be at a high voltage but unlikely to have a high sustained current so not likely to produce a loom fire. oi you editted your post ;) but not before I quoted it :D
  18. it certainly happens where the wires are contantly flexed - would have thought the fuses would then been in action - earning their keep
  19. post picnic with seats swivelled
  20. default settings have changed a bit - at least it defaults to 'anytime' :D now rather than within the last 30days ;) but generally agree with you
  21. no problem :D changing the sensor is usually cheaper and quicker, can't always get hold of it though, Frauds would only do the whole thing as an exchange part - about
  22. car details would be helpful but to answer your question - I had exactly that, subtle loss of power first noticed on inclines, disconnected the MAF - got overtaken by cyclist on hill well almost :) , replaced the MAF - whee........ ;) :) goes well now, there was a post where I gave some time trials but I can't find it at the moment. oh here it is
  23. ;) :) :) MJr - they moved it but can't remember when
  24. preferred the "is that dog sh*t" "looks like dog sh*t" "smells like dog sh*t" "tastes like dog sh*t" "Oh must be dog sh*it" "be careful don't step in it then" sketch
