Sounds like you have a short circuit within the heating element of the heated seat. One way of checking this is to find where the heated seat plug connects to the seat and do a comparison resistance check between the drivers and the passengers seat as you know the driver's is fine. This will confirm whether or not you need to either change the seat or dismantle it to replace the heater element.

Danny there could be a number of things causing this but an easy and possible cause is the MAF (Mass Airflow Meter). If you disconnect this electrically (left hand side and part of airbox, just after the air filter box) and see if the symptoms improve when driving. If they do then you need a new MAF. If they don't then there are a number of things to do. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you need to check the engine roll restrictor first off.

Yep sounds like it's going into limp mode. If you do a search on the VNT you'll get a better idea of what to check and IIRC, there is a post where there are photos of the amount of movement you should get from the VNT. First thing you can do is to check all the hoses that connect to and from the boost control solenoid (n75 valve as suggested by fOster), the small filter behind the MAF area on the bulkhead and the VNT diaphragm which moves the actuator. After that you need to get the a diagnostic test done to confirm the problem but I'm not sure VAG-COM works on a Mk1. This will then confirm whether or not the turbo needs sorting out which is quite a big job. Hope this helps. Found the post you need to read http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...hl=VNT+actuator

Sorry Alan ....sounds to me you need a Haynes manual or see if you can get hold of a TIS disc.

Sounds like the car is going into limp mode and could be caused by a variety of things. Usually if you have a MAF problem the idle is usually erratic along with poor acceleration. It could be VNT related where the boost pressure produced by the turbo is adjusted by the variable position of the vanes within it. The VNT actuator moves the vanes. If you have an overpressure fault because the vanes are sticking or not moving to the correct position, the ECU will go into limp mode and limit the power available to protect the engine. You will need to give more information about the car and the symptoms to give the people on here a better idea of what your problem is. Hope this helps

Immobiliser Led Flashes
Smilge replied to mike634949's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
90mA is fine ....... anything more than 150mA (depending on what other accessories are connected via a permanent 12V) then I would start to worry. A diode fault would be indicated by an alternator workshop light. How old is the battery by the way? -
All you need to do is to solder a 500 microfarad capacitor in series with the inner core of the TMC part of the splitter lead. Capacitors act as a DC block and therefore the 12V won't get through.

Ipod Connection To Aux Input On Radio
Smilge replied to fclauson's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
You'll need to find exactly what the model number of your radio and find which type of connectors are plugged into the back. You might like to try the following link which gives an example on how do it on a Mondeo otherwise you might like to contact the same people who I'm sure will help you out. http://www.siocommunications.co.uk/Forum/i...hp?topic=1677.0 -

Stevie ...Sk's right Follow his instructions but what you can do in addition is select the command prompt option and then type in the following: chkdsk /p - this will check the disk for errors chkdsk /r - this will repair the errors. fixmbr - this will re-write the Master boot record. I've used this numerous timess and has sorted the majority of PC's with symptoms similar to yours Hope this helps.

You're probably right Sk ... whatever happens we'll end up paying for it in one way or another!

Steering Ruff And Squeeking Noise
Smilge replied to chicken_arse_legs's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You got it ... If you jack the front of the car up so that both front wheels are off the floor and with the bonnet open, turn both wheels using the steering wheel (no power assistance) to full lock and listen around the area of the "rubber things". If the bushes are corroded then as the shocks twist you'll hear the noises you describe. -
Oh doom and gloom! What makes me laugh is that it's all "invisible" money so ......... let's all get together and start from scratch ...easy! :16:

Steering Ruff And Squeeking Noise
Smilge replied to chicken_arse_legs's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You've probably got water / condensation in the top of the front struts at some point and the bushes have corroded over time. Betcha that's the probload. -
Congrats Maz ......... just think in a few years time you could be piloting the Predator over Afghanistan ... and that is now fitted with missiles! Now there's a thought.

Can you confirm which model this was? I went into the local radio man today to ask about a sub and he brought out an Alpine, but it wouldn't fit under the seat. Sorry I didn't reply earlier Dave but the model was the SWD-1600 Here's a piccy.

A Welshman was washed up on a beach after a terrible shipwreck. Only a sheep and a sheepdog were washed up with him. Looking around, he realised that they were stranded on a deserted island. After being there a while, he got into the habit of taking his two animal companions to the beach every evening to watch the sun set. One particular evening, the sky was a fiery red with beautiful cirrus clouds, the breeze was warm and gentle - a perfect night for romance. As they sat there, the sheep started looking better and better to the lonely Welshman. Soon, he leaned over to the sheep and... put his arm around it. But the sheepdog, ever protective of the sheep, growled fiercely until the man took his arm from around the sheep. After that, the three of them continued to enjoy the sunsets together, but there was no more cuddling. A few weeks passed by and, lo and behold, there was another shipwreck. The only survivor was a beautiful young woman, the most beautiful woman the man had ever seen. She was in a pretty bad way when he rescued her and he slowly nursed her back to health. When the young maiden was well enough, he introduced her to their evening beach ritual. It was another beautiful evening... red sky, cirrus clouds, a warm and gentle breeze - perfect for a night of romance. Pretty soon, the Welshman started to get 'those feelings' again. He fought the urges as long as he could, but he finally gave in and, realising he now had the opportunity, leaned over to the young woman, cautiously, and whispered in her ear, 'Would you mind taking the dog for a walk?'
