sanjsanj replied to staglad's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
what year is it? automatic/manual? Follow the link in my signature to add these details to your signature. -
If that doesn't work, then get a needle and poke the small button moulded in the plastic, to the right of the AUTO button

Windscreen Misting Up
sanjsanj replied to Seatdriver's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
does the heated windscreen help at all? -
The light you're meant to look at, is the red one on the drivers window sill. It usually flashes when the car is locked and the alarm is activated & also comes on for about 5 seconds when starting the gal. The next time this problem occurs, look at that light and see if it flashes. P.S Welcome to the forum!

Auto Gearshift Illumination
sanjsanj replied to stevic's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
the only main problem you'll have is getting the mechanism off, it's downhill from there. (try not to break the green plastic which gives the bulb its green light) also, vw seem to be cheaper for parts. -

undo the screw shown in the picture... i think you need an allen key. Then, the whole gearstick lever should come off. Now, if you can thke black piece of plastic out by forcing flat screw drivers around the edges (the one which has the P, R, N, D, 3, 2, 1 markings on it) then do it .... this will give you access to the bulb underneath. Otherwise, take the ash tray out, and then take the ash-tray holder out. This will give you access to black screws, 4 i think, two are show in this picture. Once all the screws are undone, you should be able to maneuver the whole cream plastic part to the side... !Mind the VAG-COM socket! (the pink thing) Now from underneath, you should be able to puch out the black plastic which'll give you clear access to the bulb underneath. ahh haa, found more info clicky me When you come to remove the U shaped thing, make sure you get a good workout at the gym beforehand... I couldn't get it out! -
by diesel engine in the galaxy sharan alhambra, i think you mean the PD engine... clicky me or click me We all know (i hope) that the specialty of the PD engine is the very high pressure it pumps diesel into the engine. Could this high pressure be another cause for the diesel to get hot?

Oil Overfill- Advice On Removing Please.
sanjsanj replied to neiluk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Could it be that the garages are putting a whole bottle of oil in and don't know that it only requires 4.5 litres IIRC? (i don't know if this also apply's to the petrol engines, someone please confirm) -
Try this: With the engine off, apply gentle pressure as if you were about to rotate the steering wheel to make a turn. Keep on applying pressure and start the engine. Within 2-3 seconds the steering wheel should rotate slightly in the direction you were applying the force. If not, then your power steering isn't working...

surely with the technical section locked, new visitors won't know the wealth of information available on the technical section and therefore won't bother signing up? -
Lights Flicker Every 60 Seconds When Parked And Locked
sanjsanj replied to Dr Phibes's topic in MKIII Technical section
i think there should definitely be one....the mkIII is a totally new car and will have its own set of problems, if any. It'll also get all the mkIII owners in one place and finding a discussion about a problem will be easier to find, as you dont have to seach this forum. -
New Galaxy - Rear Quarter Opening Vents
sanjsanj replied to Dr Phibes's topic in MKIII Technical section
exactly my thoughts! you should definitely get someting back one way or another. -
when i had to get a sensor for my 2.8, the guy i spoke to said "the problem is, the sensor is so far down that they dont get hot enough" therefore implying that the standard sensors aren't heated, which means there might not be that extra wire you're looking for....because the same guy was asking "is it a 3 wire or 4?" however, sit tight and i'm sure someone on here with more knowledge will reply.

i think it is intelligent...which means it probably looks at the number stop/starts, weather you make lots of short journeys or generally long ones ...etc etc

I had a 96 sharan with a sony head unit...i swaped it with my 99 gal and it worked perfectly. Did you take the wire adapters off of the gal and connect using those in the sharan? edit: according to me the wiring is the same.
