On closer inspection after a clean up it appears it's not worn through the metal. So just need to change that rubber mount. Does the whole strut need to come out to do so or can I get away with not undoing the lower clamp bolt.?

Here is a view of the top of the strut looking from the wheel arch. Is the strut wearing into the body? MOT due in Sept. Possible failure?

Check the Selectors are still attached quite hard to see though.

Replacing Air Con Compressor
Russats replied to Russats's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Today and yesterday the Air con has been fine all day. Whereas since regas over a week ago it's been blowing cold for short periods. The regas man suggested it could be a sticky valve as it's not been used in so long. Might not need to change it.... see how it goes. Thanks for the advise though -
Any hints or tips for carrying out this task? Should the belt be replaced at the same time? I assume I will need to have all the gas in the system removed?

Look under the bonnet at the compressor when it's switched on the clutch will engage and you'll see it spinning. When it's off the belt still runs but the compressor doesn't.

Air Con Fault Finding
Russats replied to Russats's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
No luck so far. It still blowing cold for a few seconds then fizzles off quickly. Anyone got a guide to changing the compressor, u assume all the gas will have to be removed first? -
Do you still have this? Would it fit a 130bhp engine?

Air Con Fault Finding
Russats replied to Russats's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Had it regassed today by an expert mobile guy, it worked the whole time he was there. Once I set off for school run it started to work then fizzled out. Called the guy up he said turn the engine off for about 30 seconds then start up again and it began working again. He's saying try this for a week or so before considering the compressor might be faulty. Anyone heard of these symptoms or diagnosis? -
If you're breaking I might be interested in the wheels. Depending which ones they are, and your location.

Air Con Fault Finding

Thanks for that. I took it to a place who are part of kwikfit. They told me that there were no leaks and no gas present. I'll have to find a specialist. Thanks for the advise -
Would plugging in my Galaxy find all the issues or not? Last year I had it pressure tested and regassed however to no avail. There was no cool air. Wondering if I should attempt repair my self or get an expert onto it
