Intermittent Starting Problems
BrianH replied to Bobski's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You can post photos to photobucket and use the link function to share them here if that helps. Do you have any other keys for the Galaxy?? -
Try http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php/topic/26440-rear-cigar-lighter-fuse-blown/?hl=%2Brear+%2Bpower F7 - 20Amp for the Cigarette Lighter There seems to be more than one way they can be connected, the other one is using the box under the seat which you don't appear to have. VCDS is unlikly to tell you any faults with the power outlets, as there isn't really much to them anyway (just the fuse, wires and sockets)

Power Steering And Starter Motor
BrianH replied to Zaw's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
At very least they should do you a reasonable job of fixing it if relay 30 is the problem. Usually if it is relay 30 then the door led (the one on the edge of the door) behaves differently when it won't start so its worth looking at that to start with if you have access to it now. -
Power Steering And Starter Motor
BrianH replied to Zaw's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Any idea what brand of starter was used (if its RTX from Euro car parts then they seem to be slated for being rubbish elsewhere). It could be the relay 30 problem if its fairly random - info in the faq section for that issue. Need more info really as others have mentioned above. -
Fitting New Servo Pipe
BrianH replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
it should just prise out of the servo with care. Depends what bit you have on the other end as to how you approach that end, but it should be reasonably easy to work out. -
Fitting New Servo Pipe
BrianH replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Theres a barbed type slide on connection that the pipe slides onto - do you have the fittings on the end of the pipe or just the rigid pipe? (I replaced mine with silicon pipes as it was what i had available at the time i discovered what the source of the hissing noise was, so left the connector in place and just cut what remained of the hose off then slid it over the top of the old connector barbed end). If its in the servo itself it just prises out the other end you may need to cut off carefully to remove. -
Most likely yes. Hard to tell from here obviously! Its a right pig of a job doing the plugs i found too!

Intermitant Brake Lights
BrianH replied to chunky62's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Its on the pedal and theres instructions in the faq section at the top of this board for replacing it. -
have a read of http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php/topic/26510-water-from-drivers-side-lower-air-vent-any-ideas/ Do you have a working rear washer? (if not it could be that look in the faq for info - the trim next to the front passenger door has a joint which fails). May help to indicate which mk one you have?

Intermitant Brake Lights
BrianH replied to chunky62's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I'd look into whats been pointed out above if your still having problems (the wires running through the boot gaiter) -
If you have got as far as taking them out then putting a new set in would be the best way forward as its not the most fun of jobs to do!. If its still playing up afterwards try running it when its dark and see if you can see any sparking from the leads - if you can they definitely want replacing as well
-
Yes. You probably have some of the fuel burning in the exhaust thats what the popping and some of vibration will be. (rest will be down to the engine not running at its proper even speed - it will be slowing down as it tries to fire the problem cylinder(s)). Its probably not managing to burn all of it hence you can also smell petrol. Its probably not sparking on one cylinder, maybe two depending whats failed exactly A quick word of warning - if it is misfiring and you continue to drive it you will end up ruining the Cat in the exhaust (its relatively fragile and the pounding it starts to take breaks it into little pieces before too long) and having to replace that sooner or later as well!
-
Sounds like a misfire - First step would be to check that the plug leads are fully pushed home at both ends. Could be a faulty plug or lead or coil pack if that doesn't solve it (the 2.0 doesn't seem to have the issues with the coil packs failing like the 2.3, but if the plugs are past their best it wouldn't be a bad idea to change them and/or the leads. The plugs are a pain to get to though).

How To Change Front Disc On A Mark 2

Central Locking Continually Locks And Unlocks
BrianH replied to ncdavies's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The other possibility is that one of the door motors (usually the front) is failing to unlock properly or at least the car thinks it hasn't unlocked. If the wires are ruled out then try swapping the motor/door catch over (if you can trigger it doing it while you are in the car look at the door handles - are they all moving, If one isn't then thats where you need to start looking). -
Exactly same symptoms I had and suspected the motor to be the issue just as the OP. It was as stated above a broken brown wire in the door loom. It will have broken inside the gaiter in the door hinge area. Just pull the boot back to see its a lot easier to do than changing the motor (and will be much more likly to fix the problem).
-
A tell tale sign of the broken wires() is if the passenger one works fine from the passenger side, but only in one direction on the drivers door switch.

Could I Have Fake Brake Pads?
BrianH replied to derekod's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Have a check over the vacuum lines if it appears to still be a problem - they split at the ends allowing vacuum to be lost without making noticeable difference to the pedal pressure -
Maybe the oil pressure light is down to a clogged filter if you haven't already changed it?

From faq - pollen filter is in the same area. If you remove mentioned bulkhead then you should be able to see if water is gathering there. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php/topic/1539-how-to-change-a-pollen-filter/?hl=pollen+filter You will probabbly find it more effective if it is to remove the wheel arch liner and unblock it/wash any accumulated rubbish out if needed.
