Alloy Wheel Center Caps
chromedome replied to lilbob's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
IIRC aren't the caps "keyed" so they only fit properly in one position. I have fitted mine wrong and they look fine until you look in detail. When fitted properly you can see the difference. I find it hard that you can hear them rattling as they are light weight plastic!! Hope this helps. -

Anyone Knows A Good Diagnostic Man?
chromedome replied to anton's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Coil packs? Looks under the bonnet in the dark and look for signs of arcing. -
Just a guess but it could be a faulty accelerator switch. They are an electrical switch and are prone to wearing in one segment, the bit that's used the most. Could be the ECU got erratic signals from the switch and shut down. This could also be why you had no response from the accelator. Switching off would maybe clear the ECU.

Stiff Accelerator Pedal

Another fault is a sticky throttle assembly. Try cleaning it first. If the cable seems ok then a new throttle assembly may be required. -
2.3 Automatic Is Stuck In Drive
chromedome replied to mandi70's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Could be the gearbox ECU. You could try disconnecting the battery, make sure you have the radio code, for about half an hour and try again. I've heard that the wiring between the gearbox and ECU can wear through and short out. So you could check this whilst the battery is disconnected. -
Something Running After Switch Off
chromedome replied to sappers's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It won't be your aux heater as you have a petrol V6! There is an electrically operated water pump that runs for a while when you switch the engine off. This is to circulate the coolant for a while to prevent hot spots building up within the engine. Why yours is switching on and off all the time I don't know. I would think a sensor somewhere. -

Wheel Feels Like Its Falling Off
chromedome replied to jamesey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Unfortunately the garage will only say that it was ok at the time of the test. An MOT is not a guide as to the condition of the vehicle. I'm just wondering if you could pack some grease in the CV joint and see if your problem goes away. If it does then you will need to replace it. -
Wheel Feels Like Its Falling Off
chromedome replied to jamesey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Could be a CV joint. When the steering is on full lock do you get a loud clicking/knocking? -
As far as I know you just drive above 20mph and it automatically resets. Double check the connections.

IIRC only genuine Ford mudflaps fit the MK2. They come with clear plastic transfers that protect the paintwork from wearing when the mudflaps flex. The clips are also designed to fit in with the wheel arch lining.

When you pushed back the caliper pistons, did you undo the bleed nipple or did you push the fluid back into the system. If pushed back into the system you may have "flipped" the seals in the master cylinder. Pushing fluid into the system can also damage the abs.

The radio does have two feeds. One for holding the radio memory and one for main power. I can't remember the numbers, help somebody. I know it's on the TIS disk wiring layout but can't find my copy at the moment.

What a good start...................... My son wrote off his Citroen Xsara Picasso last night, someone pulled out in front of him. "Didn't see him" was the comment made. Fortunately everybody, including my 20 month old Grandson, is ok. He was in a proper child's seat. He cried because the drink he was enjoying flew across the other side of the car :D . When I got to the scene, blue lights all over the place and there was the Citroen with a heavily modified front end and both airbags deployed. Thankfully all the safety measures built into the car worked well. The Ford Focus he hit had spun up the road and had driver's side damage. My son and the other driver both needed minor hospital treatment.

Drive Belt/power Steering/accident
chromedome replied to mumof4's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
mumof4 The symptoms you describe match exactly what our son has/had. He is labelled with Aspergers which is recognised as a medical problem for which he gets an allowance. He was awarded 25 hours per week support throughout his school life. That's one to one every day. What pi**ed me off is the school used those hours to support other children with problems whose parents couldn't be bothered to go through statementing. Like you said, the things you have to say and listen to about your loved one is heart breaking. You are not alone even though you think you are. -

chromedome replied to mumof4's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
mumof4 We have been through the statementing process with our son. He's 23 now and still has problems which is complicated even more as he now has a 20 month old boy. Doing a statement is horrible as you have to describe your own flesh and blood problems in detail. If you want any advice, pm me and I'll get the wife to have a chat. Good luck with the galaxy by the way. -
Does this only happen in cold weather? Mine used to fluctuate when it was cold and appears to have been caused by the aux heater cutting in and out. Mine was fixed by replacing the temperature sensor/switch.
-
Mine stops when normal temperature is reached, well sort of. If you listen to mine very carefully it's sort off ticking over if that makes sense. Mine is one of the last Mk2's so may be a mod that's been done to stop it seizing up from lack of use. My aux heater was intermittent but changing the temperature sensor/switch has cured the problem.

Drive Belt/power Steering/accident
chromedome replied to mumof4's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sorry to hear about your accident, all you need just before Christmas. At least nobody was hurt. Do you know if the nearside front wheel made contact in the accident? May be worth a check for marks, etc. If so the impact could have put strain on the steering which has made your belt snap. Just a thought. Is your insurance claims protected? If you believe you're not at fault go for it. -
External Temperature Sensor

Part eventually arrived and is now fitted, 10 minutes. Aux heater fires up fine and temperature now stays steady. Thanks for the help given. -

I've got to wait another day, the dealership parts department ordered the wrong part even though I took the old one with me for comparison.
