He took the reading whilst the engine was hot..this will give a false reading..

heatshield..that like the one im trying to remove in mine?..if it is..how did you do it?

you are wtrong i believe..as the oil cools it all goes back down into the sump and settles..when hot it getd splashed all around and thins..it is higher when hot..lower when cold

The engine was hot when he took the reading so it will be over the mark....it has to be cool to get the correct reading. He has said that he is travelling this eve aswell.If he can let it cool then take the reading..then it will be lower..in theory anyway.

Oh and that fibreglass type thingy panel behind the bumper is cracked, split and has chunks missing from it aswell

a little bit wont hurt it..but a lot will.....too much oil and the engine could seize IIRC(i may be wrong on that point)...let it cool..then check.When i have checked mine hot it is way over the mark..when cool it is correct. All you can do is check it when it is cool..the longer you can leave it the better i believe

let the engine cool before you check it again.when hot the oil thins and goes runny.Let the engine cool.Then it will give you an accurate reading.

You avin a laff!!what driveway!! ;) unless you on about the runway at the back of the house. :D list of faults..... hmmmmmm ok..At this precise moment in time: front bumper nearside front wing needs pushing back out front underskirt needs replaceing both rear passenger windows needs sorting window regulator needed fuel filter needs changing Vacuum hoses/pipes need checking front passenger switch needs replaceing nearside wheel arch needs a new flap thingy that covers the washer bottle so cant see it rear wiper motor needs sorting as is stilted wipe ermmmmmm.......if i think of anything else i will let you know/ Oh..passenger door has a large dent and deep scratch on it that needs pushing out and filling then respraying. all wiring needs to be checked for breaks and splits. think thats it think the exhaust is blowing a bit aswell.

How far up the dipstick is it and was the engine cold wen you checked it?
