Well....all i can say is that the Gal handles extrememly well even with 4 mismatched tyres..it handles a whole lot better than when it had dunlops on it..next tyres i will get will be full run ones for the rear and i will replace them both at the same time.But..even though i may like to replace the tyres in pairs..i literally cannot afford it when the replacement of the last tyre was due to tread damage.besides..the firestone on the other side hardly looks worn...

Nope i have two directional tyres on the car(front ones)..car handles very well...a lot better than when i had dunlops on it.I have a firestone, a full run, a toureno and a.... hmmm..cant remember the last one..will go have a looksie Last is a stunner...full run and firestone are both on the front..the firestone is a fuel saver one.All are reinforced/heavy load.

Yes..i have one on my car....its classed as a budget tyre and i did post a link to the site... it is a directional high performance one that i have on my gal.It is also heavy load.So far i am pleased with it in all aspects..

Well..i didnt have it on just because it was cheap..it was either that or a dunlop..and i don't like dunlops and i needed the tyre changed asap.Just because it was only 49 quid i think IIRC..does not mean it is crap. :blink: Sooo...my reasons for having it were not based on price..it was necessity and the aversion i have to Dunlops. :blink: :lol:

All i wanted was help to help me figure out what was wrong with the car..all help and advice is greatfully recieved..but i did keep saying that the engine was quiet!!..it had lost something!!..but what i couldnt understand..was if the clutch was slipping..why had the engine gone quiet?it wasnt how it should be? I have been doing some reading on the net thanks to Teresa searching and others.....now..from what i can understand.....iirc...they symptoms of a slipping clutch may not actually mean the clutch is slipping..there are other problems that can cause the same thing......I have said that i will be keeping an eye on the clutch..and i will..if it is a clutch problem aswell..i will deal with it in the best way that i can. Everyone on here is so helpful and so willing to help..and i do mean everyone.. in the midst of this thread there was banter..it made me smile whilst i was sat here reading thru all the advice and suggestions. As my dad said..there could be two seperate problems and we have only resolved one..as you tim spam said..time will tell.. I really am tired so if i offend anyone or dont make sense ..then i do appologise. :lol:

as far as i know the instuments are accurate..the revs are now fine...in accordance with the speed i am douing.They were fine after i reconnected that pipe.

My description was not inaccurate..ata that point i had discovered the loose pipe and it was not connected..I was doing 20mph in 4th gear and the revs were steady at 1.5k.I had my eldest in the front seat reading to me what the rev counter was on and the speed i was doing..i changed gear every time i heard the engine needed changing.. At the moment the car SEEMS to be driving fine..but i still think something is missing.It is pulling.....but last night when i was pulling away in first i felt like it was going to stall..now whether this is because i dont feel as confident driving it at the moment..or whether i am just waiting for something to happen..i dont know.. All my descriptions were accurate in so far as that i dont' know what everything is!.I just know now that it is still missing something..but i honestly couldnt tell you what.Maybe on the 4th at the meet someone can drive it for me and see what they think...But i'm not experienced in diagnoseing problems...or in giving the correct descriptoins for things..i can only describe in my limited capacity... With that litle pipe off...the car crawled...the revs were high as i was trying to floor the accelerator with no success to improveing speed.(that is my explanation for it anyway.) Braking at the mo i think is ok..though sharp..touch of the brakes and im braking suddenly..whereas before at slow speed they slowed the car slowly..whether that is normal or not i have no idea..i have not driven another Galaxy for comparison...I guess if i did..then i would be better able to know.. I suppose style of driving may factor into a lot of things....But i just don't know and this frustrates me soo much.I want to know..i want to learn....i want to be able to diagnose all the faults on my car..but as i dont know what everything is for..it is a case of have a look see if its loose..give it a clean and put it back and see if things are different.That is basically what i did when i had the covers off and was rooting around and i founsd that loose pipe. What else can i do? I know..im waffling..excuse me..just tired.

i got that gem from every garage that i have been to that has tried to flog me a dunlop saying that they are the recommended tyre by Ford for the Galaxy....Even the last place showed me on his screen that next to the galaxy it states that Dunlops are to be fitted to the Galaxy as recommended by Ford.I take it with a pinch of salt to be honest as i personally don't like Dunlops. I am extremely happy with the Full Run tyre i have on at the moment..it is quiet and the grip is brilliant..yes it is a directional tyre and a high performance one..but i think it is really good.

can i just add....if you lot didnt know..something that i learnt at college on my course last week... One other number to look at on a tyre is a number that follows the word treadwear.....the higher the number the harder the tyre and the longer it lasts but also grip is not as good....the lower the number the softer the tyre is and wont wear as well....but the grip is better.A number say in the 300s is best.Now this number is not put on every tyre..but it is a guide as to how hard/soft the tyre is. Also..look at what the tyre is made of..and the plys it has in the sidewall and the tread...usually the side is 1 ply and the tread is 2..my full run tyre has 2 on the side and 3 or 4 on the tread,,cant remember which offhand. Also on your tyres, if you see the word D.O.T. foloowed by a series of numbers then a set of 4..that 4 set gives you the date it was made..so..say..it says 4006..that means it was made in the 40 th week of the year 2006. Again..not every tyre has this on it and it can be anywher on your tyre from the side you see when its on the car or the side you see that you dont. Also..even though Dunlops are the recommended tyre for the Galaxy, because they do have a very soft tread, they are better on the back than the front..... well..shall shut up for now...the tyre has soooo much info on it.....you just have to know how to read it all. Now the last tyre i got which was a full run tyre...it has so far done nearly 3k miles and it looks brand new still.My last dunlop on the front did around 6k miles and it was knackered.

Even though i smoke..and right now have no desire to give up...i hate the smell of it on my hands and always wash my hands after i have had a tab.I'm not what you would class a heavy smoker as i only have about 10 a day.... I will give up though..just with all the stresses im under at the mo with hospital appointments looming, i have no desire to inflict more stress on me.Once iv'e been whipped in and everything whipped out..then i might. :lol: well...i'll think about it...maybe... :lol: But i do admire those that have given up.
