would that cause the noise that i hear?as after redoing the the silver heat shield thingy above the end of the exhaust at the rear of the car..it was still there last night when i took the kids out.

eekk.......madbaz, familyman will remember this...when we went to umm....cr@p what was it called....that wood place where we had a meet.... anyway..there was a MKIII there that had a bike rack on the tailgate, i dont believe it had a towbar fitted but i do remember the car.LOL.

Umm...how am i going to get all 4 wheels off the ground??daft question i know but i dont have any ramps etc.....guess i will send the kids hunting for bricks :P Can i put that waxoyl stuff anywhere i find rust underneath? I will jack the car up today and have a look under the car and see if it is the heat shield or anything else loose. Thanks for the help. :angry2:

heatshield above the cat??but surely that should be secure after they fitted the cat?..is there one there??..car is too low for me to crawl under it and i dont have any ramps...but what i did see under the car didnt impress me as there is one heck of a lot of rust.I need to strip all that rust off and spray it with something to stop it going worse.I have i would say about a couple of months to get this car sorted out before i go off line any help would be appreciated.

The cat is brand new, it was put on it end of may to get it thru its mot. The noise does sound as if it is coming from that area, but i cant see it being the cat when it isnt even a couple of months old yet? Ive had the car since the beginning of june and i have covered nearly 2 thousand miles in her.she is just about to reach the 100k miles. I was under the car yesterday having a feel along the pipes from the cat all the way to the end of the exhaust and i could feel no holes at all. But that noise is def getting louder..though it is only when i put my foot down..if i accelerate very gently she is fine...but if i accelerate quickly..then its loud.Today shes been hopping a bit when i accelerate ..but im thinking thats me at the mo as im trying not to be heavy footed when i accelerate in 1st and second which is when it is loudest. as for the manual..yep..if you dinnae need it that would be great.

Very true, they should either check their manual, or the the sticker which should be on the car somewhere.. the tyres on my vectra are tiny 14 inch ones and ive been told to use 35psi in them, according to the tyres themselves they can have a max of 52 psi. Everyone is responsable for checking their own tyres, making sure that they have the correct pressure in each in my Gal hand book... 195/65/15s should be 40 front 46 rear fully laden.. ( i am assumeing that you got the 15 and 65 the wrong way round??)

ok..tyre pressures.. for 215/55/16s with a load rating of 95.. a fully laden galaxy 44 front 50 rear so i was wrong. you should also find the max psi on the side of your tyre also. ALWAYS check your tyre pressures when the tyres are COLD or you will get a false reading.

Thats fully laden galaxy and i did ask for it to be confirmed.....will dig out my manual..back in a sec.

Not Dunlops Biscuit!!!!..maybe on the back, not on the front though!!,I found them too soft on the front and wore quickly.

Flippin nora..there is a lot of stuff on that.....most of it i havent got a clue what for though. What im thinking of doing is manually going through my pc..all the files etc..registry and getting rid of stuff that isnt required/needed.considering what is on that link you provided, would it help me do this?in case i sort of went a bit wrong?

also put a higher psi in your wheels, i believe fully laden it should be 50 front 48 rear IIRC??..cant find my manual..(yes i kept it)..to confirm. Can someone confirm this please??

Have a bit of faith in the old Gal, they are a remarkably robust car ..(when they aint falling apart that is :D) and how very dare you mention the Espace in place of the Gal!!..i hope the old Gal didnt hear you mention that! :D

Different areas of scotland have their own local holidays aswell.I know that when i lived near Peterhead which was only 3 and a half year ago, for the first 4 weeks that i was there not once did my two eldest have a full week at school because of bank holidays, local holidays, teacher training days, and any other reason they could think of!!...mind, was the best school they ever attended!!..largest class size was 15, smallest was 9...Nice place to live...right next to the sea.

I have a friend who always takes her kids out of school for 10 days before they break up for the summer hols then goes on holiday then. Yep, scotland break up two weeks earlier than the rest of england and go back earlier aswell.

Last night i was under the car watching my cat whilst i had my daughter useing the accelerator pedal..the noise is getting louder from that area..very metallic ..hard to describe it...like a vroom but with ball bearings??..its def coming from where the cat is....any ideas what it could be before i whip it down to the garage?..i couldnt get under far enough to see if maybe there was a hole in a pipe or something......
