lasts around 50 odd k miles judging by what peeps milaege is wen it goes.

Just wondered if anyone could recommend any particular company that they have used..I have sat and gone thru the yellow pages.. Aye..i know moving is stressfull..ive moved every 2 years for the past 33...last moved March just gone. :wacko:

1.Not me....an application is being made to the Benevolent fund. 2.YUp 3.No, i am in forces accomodation under notice to Vacate, and i cant just sell everything as it would cost more to replace than i would get in selling.When i leave here, it will not be into my own place.I can only take what i can fit into the car, hence storage needed.

OK peeps, need a bit of help here.I have to get quotes on storage of all my worldly possession for around 3 months..though this amount of time is not set in stone.They have to pick up..store then take to where ever i get rehoused which could be anywhere and any time. I have spent all afternoon ringing companies up for quotes.This is the first time im having to deal with removal companies myself. So far i have been quoted from 300 to 695 for pick up..(everything already packed up). for storage for around 3 months..is anything from 150 a month to 85 a week delivery is from anywhere between 300 and 495. My head is boggling here..i have to get as many quotes as i can in as short as space of time that i can.Basically..i have been told i have 48 hours to get quotes, i was told this less than an hour ago whereas last fri i was told i had a week. Does anyone know of any reputable companies??..all i know are Pickfords, F and N...And a couple of others Also i need tips on prepareing everything for storage...from pictures to furniture...as on pick up everything has to be ready to go straight into storage. Im asking here as i may not think of everything that i need to do. As always your help is very much appreciated. Marian.

around half 3 this morning the girls finally went to sleep.Never again.

If the camchain has snapped,leading to piston/valve contact..wouldnt the pistons have carried on going up?..(trying to remember it from my course.) Also...were there any problems PRIOR to the car going Kaput??and what were they??as they may lead to a correct diagnosis?..i mean..like if she was juddering, making weired noises?? Or is it a case of sometimes there can be no prior warning to something going wrong?? Am just trying to think back.. Also..maybe trying to tow start it ..that may have caused further probs??..(just going on what it says in the veccy manual as it cant be that much diff to tow starting a gal?) OR Maybe i should shut up now.

Now this may sound daft, but have you checked the alt? There is a Haynes for the MKI galaxy..Might be worth getting??

are you tow starting it?? Hmm..now...reading this veccy manual..it says not to tow start it as you can flood the engine or summit with fuel..(if i read it right that is)

It cant be the cat though..as that is only a couple of months old..do the words thrust bearings mean anything?thing is, unless i can get someone to listen to it who may be in the know...it could be anything really? sparky....whereabouts are you?????You cant be that far from me.

Thing is though, this noise wasnt there when i first got the car... Mind, for a 10 yr old car she does run well.Im going to swot up on the manual so i know whats what on her and the signs that could indicate something is wrong and roughly where.

I wiped all under the car from where there had been a previous oil leak which was fixed...so if there is an oil leak now..i will be able to tell.So tomorrow will check first thing as i have been out in the car since i wiped it down. Think ill leave the handbrake for now..reading the manual..for me it will be a looong job! Yep i checked the mesh thingy, no holes in it from what i could feel as i felt all around it, what i did feel but couldnt see on the down pipe going to it on the left hand side in the pics, there is like what i can only describe as a score mark??but it didnt feel as if it went thru..like a dent.

well i tell you what..ive been entertaining not only my kids today but half the bloody streets!!Camerons had his GF in, Vicky has had her "mate for life "in..Lissa has had her friend in..ive still got 6 kids here who have helped make cakes then ice them....couple o pics for you... Today, i have mostly been working on the car.But now i have fresh bread baking in the oven courtesy of me....and rock cakes courtesy of the kids..which i am sure judging by how they looked when they went in, will make ruddy good door stops and paper weights :rolleyes:

There is nooooooooooooo way i am going under the car whilst its running!!..i only just had clearance for me nose!..( no pinnochio jokes please)..id have to have it on proper ramps for me to that ..or improvise higher..Hmmm..........She is a low car..so the ramps would have to slope up gently not steep........ I have accelerated whilst idling and the engine doesnt move around too much..as you say only about half an inch. How do i adjust the handbrake?doh..just found it in the manual....umm..i have to have the rear of the car up in the air!oh my word..i have to take both rear wheels off!lmao...this bit is good... "after fitting new handbrake shoes, the shoes should be bedded in by driving a short distance" "refit rear wheels then lower vehicle to the ground" flip.cant i just adjust a knob or something??

Improvisation..2 pasteing tables, 6 planks of wood and a heavy grid :rolleyes: The pipe doesnt move much only a mm or so but it certainly cant touch the cross member in any way and there is a good couple of inches clearance. Bloke across the road had a listen to the car and he said summit about clutch bearings???..or maybe drive shaft??..ive spent a few hours on that car today slowly running my hands over all the pipes and hoses checking to see if anything is loose or falling apart..Going to clean up, get the car down then nip out and check the drive shafts in the local car park. Oh, forgot to mention..when i drove her up the makeshift ramp and put the handbrake on then took my foot off the brake..she rolled backwards..i had to pull the handbrake up as far as it would go so she wouldnt move.but she really creaked before i did that.

quick question..shopuld there be any smoke coming from that pipe at all near that white thing??..not much but like whispers???? when i accelerated hard with my hand whilst underneath, there were whispers of smoke..will see if i can capture it on pic.

Am improviseing with a load of wood i have in the garage.Plus anything else heavy duty i can find in there. :blink:

Could that big black bit,be forced down onto the pipe in any way??..I need to find something to put the front wheels on as i only have the little jack for the car and that sorta fell over the other day when i had it jacked up. if i can get in closer to it, will take sum pics of whatever i try. well the car does vibrate when on idle..thought that was normal.This is the first petrol car ive ever driven so i aint got a clue what is/is not normal for it. How much clearance should there be?? Ill jack the car up today once the drive drains and ive cleared my garage of water.will have a gander.
