hi thanks for the input, i have looked again today and mine isnt at the top so i guess i dont have one however i do have under the air filter an opening in the shape of an oblong so i guess my air goes out that way but i cant see the pull off pipe at the top rear of it maybe different, also i was told today that if my car wasnt jumping/jerking before with the old maf then it must be a duff new maf so i phoned the guys where i got it from and are willing to change it tomorrow morning so will try that if not i honestly dont know what the hell to do apart from taking it to be put on a machine last resort trouble with these new cars all electronics pain in the arse (sorry for the lang) but a little pi**ed off now spent a fortune on her in the last few months with one thing and another had this one for 14 months so hope i can get this sorted i though someone on here has had this problem not only with the new fitted maf but the serging or jerk or jump whichever you want to put it but we will get it done in the end thanks alot smoggy

hi guys, ok i took the plug to the maf off and altho it lacked the power i didnt get the jump/ hesitation, i drove slowly for a little while and nothing , so then i reconnected it and there was a slight hesitation noticeable, so where to i go from here? i was thinking could it be a blocked injector? or a bad batch of diesel will wait a few days and see if it makes any changes thanks for the input you guys but its startting to get on my nerves a little now a brand new maf and it starts to play up where as the old maf was not making the car jump/ hesitate so any ideas guys will be helpful here later smoggy

hi guys ok yes it did stop the stalling but.......... we now have a small problem in the low gears 1 & 2 going slowly across a flat road or in a line of traffic going slow it is jumping - jerking slightly we took the maf back off to check the rubber seal all ok but where it flatens out you can see the rubber we think there may be air escaping from this or should it be like this? will i have to have it reset or something ? it wasnt doing it when the old maf was on it so what can this be any ideas guys thanks smoggy7 i have included a pic where the flat bit on the maf is there is a gap here and we think the air is coming from there we are not sure if you put your finger there and rev the engine you can feel it sucking on your finger can someone suggest what the problem may be again thanks alot for your patience with me smoggy7

hi, i am in swansea and i have a 2001 zetec 1.9 tdi 115 bhp i didnt find any change when the maf was disconnected drove the same as when it was connected, tried on hill put foot down but still the same no go in it what so ever still struggles so not sure wah this is thanks smoggy7
-
hi guys, ok heres the update on this, i disconnected the maf and it hasnt changed the problem, ok today i noticed when on a hill i changed from 2nd to 3rd but had nothing the revs were way up but it seemed to be struggling for speed and my foot was to the floor , so lightly took my foot off the throttle to get it back to a decent speed then by the time i got the top of the hill it went ok then, its like if its missing something but dont know what. so by disconnecting the maf hasnt really made any diff still the same problem either with it in or out so what do you guys think plz thanks smoggy

hi all, i forgot about this resistor with everything that has happened over the last few weeks head in the shed anyway my resistor was green and i fitted it within ten mins max now all working great and the a/c now comes on and all is well many thanks to you all for your help but as to your problem mate if the fan is working on all 4 then it lies somewhere else they may be right if the fan is working but then slows down could be a number of things try a good car electrician he should be able to tell you thanks smoggy

hi, as far as i can remember just pointing upwards either on a small hill or bigger hill it struggles to pick up until i rev it a bit more than it should we have a specialist herein swansea so i may take it there for his opinion but until i can get some cash together just put up withit for now cheers smoggy
-
hi ,it makes no difference when its hot or cold does this on both, when trying to pick up after stopping when i revit a little it then smoothes out then i dont think it stutters any it has stalled on me if i dont give it enough revs it is a strange one this had it on a petrol car years ago but cant remember what it was, thanks smoggy
-
hi guys ok here is what happened today when i come to a stop on a small incline and try to pull away i have to give her a real push on the throttle to get her to pick up so anymore ideas on this plz it goes great when picking up no problem climbing on the hills but its again when coming to a stop and then trying to pull away she faults and when putting foot on the pedal nothing there until i rev her a little thanks guys smoggy

hi, its a 1.9 tdi zetec 2001 ford galaxy i may try the maf but surely it would do it all the time if this was the fault not sure on this but my diesel has had this problem for a while now so worth checking it out thanks smoggy
-
hi thanks for the reply it happens even if i have a full tank of diesel that is what i thought it first was that i havent got enough diesel in the tank but it has happened when it is full i was inclined to think it may be a injector problem maybe not really sure thanks alot any more ideas will be greatfully appreciated smoggy

hi all firstly many thanks for all the condolences we have had on the loss of my mum thanks ok i have had a quick look to find the resistor as my heaters only work on 3 and 4 and i want to do the work i have seen the pic of the unit with the red resistor but mine isnt like it , i can see a green plug with a plug coming from it on the right and on the left is another sort of plug would this green thing be the resistor and if so what is holding it to the unit many thanks smoggy

hi mum of 4 you cant go wrong ive just redone mine and it took just over 2 hours as one spindle was seized solid, it makes the motor work twice as hard to get the wipers to go across the screen thats why its juddering, you take off the wiper nuts x2 then the long black plastic has clips under it they unclip from the holes then if you look carefully you will see a few 10 mil bolts under the next bit you have to get at all these once these are off then you should see 3 brass nuts that hold the wiper unit on take all 3 off unclip the wire connector and the whole unit will come out take to a bench if possible and carefully take off the c clip dont loose this bit as it holds the spindle in place pull spindle through clean with wire wool or wet and dry then regrease put back together , if spindle is seized solid hold in a vice and while spraying with wd40 pull back and forth to release it a little at a time until it comes loose enough to hit through be carefull when hittting the spindle , once this is all done then can be replaced and hopefully this should make a hell of a difference it did on mine i was helped here also with this and i agree with the guys and girls here it makes a difference if someone has done the work to help others out is great hope you get there all the best and thanks by the way for the words of comfort from you when i lost me mum thanks getting there slowly as of course i miss her terrible as you only get one mum she was the best thanks all smoggy
