hi, all masked thanks for the pics mate i just phoned my mate and he said it was a paper filter at the front of the engine he changed so it must be a pd engine i would guess thanks alot smoggy

hi masked, the oil filter on the first picture next to the dipstick i am sure i have seen this on mine does this unscrew as there is an arrow mark on it cant be sure as my mate did the service on it i didnt see where the oil filter went but im sure when he changed the glow plugs and oil filter it was at the back of the engine real pain as not much room to work as by your pic your glow plugs are in front of the engine i wish mine were lol anyway will check but i am sure i have seen that filter next to the dipstick thanks smoggy

hi mate, as i didnt change the oil fiter i havent looked at that but what does this filter look like and where abouts is it close to thanks masked i did notice a long black tube in front of the engine with an arrow on it?

hi no the car hasnt had a second hand engine fitted it has the original engine as i checked with all rellevent paper work ie engine vin and numbers but i would have thought it would tell you in the log book but mine dont so ill will have to look intoit further but my local ford dealer who i know a few mates there did the check for me told me that there was no pdu anywhere on there system to indicate my galaxy has a pd engine without looking at my galaxy as i phoned a mate that worked there, but surely it would tell me someone in the full service history or log book but nothing at all to tell me so we will see thanks also when i got the galaxy they didnt mention it only i think he said it was a 115bhp thanks has anyone got a ford galaxy 1.9tdi zetec that could look on their log book to find out if it tells them about the model pd anywhere on it just to find out on the log book theory cheers smoggy

hi guys found out this morning that my 2001 zetec hasnt got the pd engine i gave them the engine chasis number and it confirmed on the printout its not got the pd engine they also told me that if it wasnt on the engine cover then that would also indicate that it would have the pd engine, also someone suggested the log book but its not on there either just 2001 1.9tdi zetec so thanks all smoggy

hi seat kid , sorry i havent got back but the lumpy engine is back purring like a kitten after the glow plugs were changed a big difference thanks for that mate i owe you one on that till the next problem thanks all

hi, been today to find out if my galaxy has an engine management light and its the glow plug warning symbol on my year so as i didnt get any response on this i thought i would let you guys know for further reference thanks

hi sorry to be a pain in the butt but can someone plz tell me the best grade of oil for a 1,9tdi galaxy 2001 model as i am getting so many suggestions, it has 92,000 miles to her and ford has told me 5/30 and to be honest i find it a little thin for a diesel and also wery light what are your opinions on this plz many thanks

HI ALL, WELL WE CHECKED THE CAR THIS MORNING FROM COLD OVERNIGHT AND IT HAS STARTED GREAT AND AS FAR AS WE CAN TELL THE THUMPING HAS GONE SO I GUESS THE GLOW PLUGS WERE AT FAULT THERE, WILL KEEP AN EYE ON IT FOR THIS WEEK BUT I THINK IT MAY WELL HAVE BEEN THIS THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLYS AND SUGGESTIONS SMOGGY

hi,ok we have changed the glow plugs today will check now in the morning from cold to see if has cleared the fault will report back tomorrow with the news thanks

hi i would also look behind the cover where the hose for the rear windscreen washer if you have one that is as these are known to come apart and when you use the washer it dont go the rear to wash the windscreen it goes in the footwell just a suggestion for you to look at

hi all just to ask if anyone knows if my 2001 1.9tdi has a engine management light, its not lighting up in the screen on the ignition and i have also checked the fuse numbers that the engine picture appears to that fuse and all are ok, how will i find out if this has one without going to frauds any suggestions would be greatfull i also dont have the light that tells me that the bulb is blown, when i looked at the drop down label that shows you where the fuses are for the engine management icon there were a couple so checked, all ok, thanks smoggy7

hi seatkid, ok we got new plugs today but the weather hasnt inproved but had a quick look can you tell me the best and easiest way to get at them as i think they are at the back of the engine cant see them at front, would this be a job from underneath the car to do these not much room fro the top end many thanks smoggy7

hi thanks guys but i spoke to a diesel fitter today and it could be a thousand and one things this could be so phoned the garage where i had the car from and have agreed to get the car tested for more than half the price that frauds was going to charge me, i could change or have all these things tested but to do all this i rather go to the testing and get to the sole of the problem, unless someone is solid about what it is thats causing this to happen then i am going with the garage and i also get a car to borrow while it there so thanks anyway guys will post back soon as i get the result back ta smoggy7 i will go through the things that have been thrown at me, injectors;;; well if it was this i would have a fault all day but the car drives wonderfull all day with no jerks or poor running. timing --if the timing was out a small bit it would be there all the time not just on start up glow plugs my light on the dash for this glows for about 5 secs thenwhen it goes off i turn the key and it starts these are things i have had a chat today with a diesel garage but without them looking at it and hearing it from cold it is hard to say what it is. so as you can gather here lads but i think the test will be better they have a better chance to hear it from cold and to read the cdes if any are found. ok when asked if my car had a management light i told them i havent seen this light up in the screen told the guy the year it is a 200l 19 tdi he told me there should be one on it, unless the bulb has failed or someone had disconnected it for a reason this however threw me a little does my car have one or not, and has someone disconnected it for some reason? anyway thanks for the feedback guys speak soon smoggy7

hi all ive had the car looked at by a friend of mine and he thinks this lumpy cold start is there is a miss in the engine when starting from cold and very lump unti it warms up any ideas as to what may be causing it to miss would be greatfull for any suggestions, i am going to put in some injector cleaner in the morning to see if it may be a dirty injector, thanks smoggy7

hi, i have a galaxy 1.9 tdi on starting from cold in the mornings i get this lumpy sound coming from the engine, i have just had the filters changed , and oil change but it only happens when cold ie morning start, it is hard to describe the feeling i am getting from inside the car but it is lumpy and noisey for about 2 -3 mins then it goes all day with no problem star6ts first time after stopping, soon as i leave it over night when cold start the engine and its like a very heavy thumping noise that lasts only mins plz can someone advise on what they think it is , ive been told of a few things belt tensioner, or the sound in desiels are a bit noisey many thanks smoggy7

hi, thanks for the reply due to the weather being bad here i havent had chance to look but i know it isnt the tappets that is making the noise, but i will soon check it as i am doing the oil and filter change soon as the weather breaks, so will have a check on it then, i cant explain what it sounds like but it sound like if something is loose or touching something and makes it rumble it is as you said it goes if i touch the throttle pedal and drive off, but if i start the car and stay idle you can hear it vibrating for about 2 5 mins then i cant hear it all day, soon as the morning comes after i stopped using the car the night before when it is cold here it comes again when starting thanks smoggy7 i forgot to mention its a 19 tdi deisel

hi roomies, on starting the car in the mornings when the car is cold i get an anoying rattle or bad vibration from the front , in about 5 mins or so it goes for the rest of the day until the mornings when the car is cold any ideas on what it is many thanks smoggy7
