2.8 V6 Multiple Codes An Misfiring
Amarok replied to andybaz's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Chain system chain strech !, the camshaft sensor will compensate for this but we are talking a strech about the thickness of a hair ! have you seen my post about the fuel filter ? have you checked for air leaks and also the Lambda sensor ? -
was the release bearing changed ? I had a release bearing that had a slight groove in it and would on occasions stick to the clutch fingers, giving similar issues ! it is a item that never seems to be changed when they do the clutch :-( and is pretty low cost !

Galaxy Losing Power And Reving High
Amarok replied to sammie32's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
sounds like a engine management problem, the ECU takes readings from various sensors then controls idle and fuel injection. Also check for air leaks (split pipes) and the Lambda sensor on the exhaust as that send signals to the ecu with Air/fuel readings they only made a 2.8 V6 (VWVR6) if yours is a 2.3 it is a 4 cylinder 16v DOHC Ford engine -
when you select screen or floor can you feel any power ? the vent system is very simple just a set of flaps that open or close. These flaps are cable operated on the basic models and electric on the climate controlled vehicles. sometimes they can stick. there is also a recirc feature that closes a flap to the outside so the system recirculates the air. Silly question but , the vents have flaps have you checked they are open ?

wiggy this is a regular problem with the sunroof not just fords !! if you open the sunroof at the front you will see two drain holes one on drivers side and one on passenger side they lead to a pipe which runs down the windscreen pillars and exits in the front wheel arch. As usual the holes get blocked and as the water has nowhere to go it will leak into the cabin. Wire coathanger or airline will clean them out. There are also two drains in the scuttle under the bonnet again same problem blocked with debris water has no where to go but into the car via the pollen filter (on a vauxhall omega I had after a heavy rain shower if you switched on the heater fan it sounded like a paddle steamer !!! splash splash ) I swear the manufacturers build this in !

Julie, the Automatic inhibit switch is a simple device to take the lever out of park you need to press the brake (this is a safety feature to prevent accidental knock of the lever while the engine is running and off she goes on her own!) the two bottom warning lights are the brake lights. On the brake pedal is a plunger type of switch i.e as you press on the brake the plunger goes further into the switch and makes contact. There could be two possible reasons why this isn't working 1. The switch has failed or become disconnected (quite easy where big feet are involved !) 2. needs to be adjusted Try pressing the brake pedal and see if the lights go out and the pin releases if it don't you need to check the brake switch Regards Amarok -

2.8 V6 Multiple Codes An Misfiring
Amarok replied to andybaz's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Andy, trust us it is a VW VR6 you should have a V6 badge on the tailgate ?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VR6_engine will explain in more detail. I was designed that way so they could get a Vee engine mounted transversely in the VW Golf (have you tried to put a Ford cosworth 24v V6 across the car ?, you need a car about 7ft wide and a engine bay 6 ft Long !!) back to your fault, I sounds like a plug or lead going down, i.e. when cold it has a poor spark but when warm starts to perform better, when were the plugs last changed ? I would get good quality plugs first and see if that fixes the problem Ok ? -

I have a MK1 Ghia with a single LED showing mileage. I have seen Ghia X dash with 2 LED displays. http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o192/Amarokuk/dash.jpg 2 questions please 1. Can I fit one of these to my Ghia 2. where are the buttons to control the 2nd display ? Thanks
-
Is it under the bonnet or under the dash ? (air in the heater matrix ??)

when I last got the aircon man out he fixed the air con ! if it won't switch on there must be a fault with the aircon surely ? aircon is quite simple it has a switch which engages the aircon compressor which in turn starts pumping the coolant around the system I don't understand how he could check for leaks without turning on the compressor ? (This is THE fault) the idle valve is a red herring I suspect (they are used on vauxhalls) the engine ecu gets a signal when the air con is switched on to up the IDLE revs BUT if it isn't switching on in the first place then how does the ecu know when to work ? (this is only for tickover anyway so if you rev the engine does the aircon work ?) This is just typical of these 'Aircon specialist's' all they know is how to regas (like filling a big lighter) £40 - £50 please and off they go ! (The current best con is to offer a deodorise your aircon, which is a quick spray in the vents with air freshener and £40 please cerr ching) I hope you didn't pay him ? I would go to a proper aircon specialist who can fix the fault it don't turn on!!!

Galaxy Automatic Problem
Amarok replied to chipgibson2004's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Try pressing the brake that will free the pin ! it is a safety feature to stop you knocking it in gear :) i.e. press brake pin unlocks handle and with the brake still pressed move to drive simples regards -

Help! Immobiliser Problems
Amarok replied to welshie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi just a thought but when your friend did the clutch did they disconnect the battery ? the immobiliser on most cars need to be programmed, range rovers are favourite for this pull the battery and you need to go through a set sequence to get the blasted thing to work are you in the AA or RAC the AA have a Home Start service and I am sure they will have the knowledge to get it working as you said only the clutch was changed so it must be something simple but anything to do with immobilisers you need help from the dealer I'm afraid. -
Hello everyone, I am a new owner of a 1997 2.8 V6 Galaxy Ghia, (24 hours). I am slowly working my way through the list of things to fix and after getting some replacement batteries for the key fob and reading the various posts on this forum my next task was get the central locking working (it works on the Key but not on the fob) I checked the LED in the drivers door but it was dead and after I removed the cover to the passenger seat I found this http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o192/Amarokuk/IMG00113.jpg it looks like the ECU has flown the coop ! there is a relay still there (I assume this is what is running the central locking via the key ?) can anyone advise please ? I have seen on fleabay 2 MK 1 ECU's, locks and immobiliser My question is can I get one of these ecu's, plug it in and off we go or do I need to change all the kit Thank You
-
Does the Brake Pad warning light go out when you disconnect the pads ?, if it doesn't then you have a short in the wiring. on a separate issue Have you tried disconnecting the 'extra' wiring, I agree with the previous post putting a fuse on a negative terminal is very stupid ! Regards
