  1. Cheers Chris as without something on there I lose my braking efficiency slightly. Will do that :-)
  2. What about the servo pipe that runs around the right side of engine with 2 outlets. Do you just have the 1 pipe connected to that and if so are you not getting air hissing from the other outlet next to it?
  3. Yeah saw that one nige, that's the latest one I went by but a couple of there pipes on there don't make sense. The one coming from ecu I assume goes to the intercooler to manifold pipe, is that correct? And other one I'm lost with is the one running from the single outlet on the turbo solenoid, I see 2 go to the turbo but what's the little curled pipe it points to? Also on the brake servo pipe where the 2 outlets are the diagram shows only 1 pipe connected but the other outlet on mine is hissing although I thought it was a 1 way valve?? Stumped. Also nige when the turbo comes in is the sound noticeable or not, and roughly what rpm does the turbo kick in. Sorry for all the questions. Will have the ecu how to up tomorrow.
  4. Hi mate I've got exactly the same engine as you after an engine swop, don't suppose I could get you to check your vacuum hoses from your egr solenoid and turbo solenoid on bulkhead and tell me where each one goes to as I still don't think mine are right as no turbo at all. If you would it would be a MASSIVE help. Thanks. Andy
  5. Ok have managed to get ecu out( now with badly cut hands) but I need to stop now as I need to sort tea out for the kids. I will take a load of pics later this evening on how I removed it with a how to. All I will say is that it's an absolute nightmare to do!!
  6. I'm at same point as you Nigel all bottom fascias off and going by Haynes but the haynes manual is utter garbage, only good for torque settings imho.
  7. Now attempting exactly same thing as you nige. You have to remove all the trim below the steering wheel and get at it from underneath. Am attempting same as you, replacement of map pipe.
  8. Hi chris, no what I'm saying is I got the big black servo pipe that runs from the brake servo round the block past the diesel filter and round front of engine with the two outlets on it. But I also have a hose coming from behind the servo somewhere, and another pipe opposite side coming out of bulkhead near passenger footwell behind coolant resevoir. This pipe is a small thin black plastic pipe with another piece of vacuum hose attached to the end of it. Both in the engine bay.
  9. Ok going back tothe turbo/vac pipes I have to 1 that comes out by the brake servo, and another the other side of the bulkhead can anyone tell me what these are and where they go in relation with the pipework as they don't seem to correspond with the diagrams you guys have posted up?
  10. Ok doing some live reading output tests of the car idling. It says on vcds lite Maf specified readings should be between 240-340 it's reading around 240 but looking at Maf actual readings again it says should be between 240-340 and I'm getting anywhere between 505 and 520 mg/str would that be down to vacuum pipes fitted wrong is it that a proper goosed Maf sensor? Thanks. Andy
  11. as regards my countless other posts regarding my freebie galaxy I was left with 3 problems:- 1. Temp gauge was fluctuating badly 2. Speedo was non existent 3. Nothing happening from the turbo AT ALL Well I have now sorted the temperature gauge and the speedo. These were down to the multiplug not quite being fully attached. Am now left with just the turbo problem. I have replaced all vac pipes to turbo and egr, and have come across diagrams for 3 different ways for all the associated pipework to be connected. My last attempt I seem to get some expansion from the manifold rubber pipe but only a little when at around 4000rpm. Checked wastegate actuator on turbo which is closed but think it's seized closed. So my next angle of attack is to unseize turbo wastegate actuator and remove the egr and give that a good clean. Apart from that I'm lost. I'm thinking I may have to give to a mechanic to check over all pipework vac hoses as my head is now spinning. Fun and games!
  12. Hi chris yep have checked the instrument cluster via output test and all gauges are working as they should so think it could be a wiring issue or gearbox sensor is faulty. Will remove egr and give it a clean see how we go from there. Can you send us an email via. aharrison04@aol.com so I can email you back. Cheers andy
  13. Hi again, have registered and activated my vcds software and can now do output tests, the n75 is working as can hear it clicking, but not getting a clicking from the n18(egr) should this be clicking (not sure if it's a solenoid?). Still occasionally getting error for cts come up but I think it's a wiring issue can these be rewired from the multiplug at all. Cheers. Andy
  14. Right have checked Maf through vagcom and is working within parameters. Temp gauge is working with new cts but still fluctuating, seems worse at idle, but not so bad whilst driving.
  15. Hi chris, right speedo still not working, and no mileage is not going up but IS displayed. Glow light comes on when ignition is switched to stage 2 and stays on for about 15 seconds then goes out. It doesn't come on or flash whilst driving. My laptop is rubbish so today it won't recognize my lead, so gonna drive to mums and try hers. New cts has arrived and fitted so gonna test temp gauge on way to my mums. Wi report back shortly will check Maf when I get vagcom running again. Speak soon. P.s you got an email addy chris :-)
  16. Ok downloaded vcds lite and ran the system and the two errors I got back were cts problem and abs speed sensor right front intermittent. Managed to clear the abs speed sensor problem, but cts remains. Hopefully my new cts will arrive today. Should I register the software, will I get more functionality from the program? It didn't throw up any faults regarding lack of turbo or lack of speedo. Hmmmm
  17. Afternoon guys, just received my vagcom lead this morning. Could someone tell me where to get the software from? Cheers. Andy
  18. Lol, I was given the galaxy so I just bought another engine for it, just seems all the sensors on the engine are shagged lol. Engine sounds really good with no smoking, but yes it does seem like one thing after another. There is another thing but I daren't mention it :-)
  19. Thanks for the link chris, have gone ahead and ordered it. Still no speedo, but have found a way to test the speed sensor so am going to try that next. Also changed cts for the one out of old engine and now I get no movement at all, so I think this one must be completely dead and the one I removed must be on it's last legs as it was getting upto normal temp and then dropping to zero and back up again. Just out of interest if I'm getting hot air from heater does that mean the stats opening?
  20. o.k replumbed turbo lines and n75 and n18 all new lines, and now the brakes are a million times better, but still no turbo(i'm assuming i'd here it and still struggling to get up hills, theres 1 pipe i couldnt figure out that should go to the vaccuum pump but coiuldnt find it so have attached to the rigid plastic black pipe that runs from the front of engine as you look at engine bay around the right side and then behind the engine. am trying to post pics up that i have on the desktop but it wont attach themn for some reason. help....
  21. Another symptom I've found whilst driving it, it doesn't matter how much you press the accelerator pedal it seems to increase the speed the same I.e if I'm doing 30 then floor it it takes the same time to gain speed as if I just squeeze the pedal. Does that point to speed control sensor, is there anyway to test said sensor. I'm looking at getting a vagcom to help but money is now really tight. Also anyone find one on eBay for me that would work on my galaxy. Cheers. Andy Also lol, on the airbox on bottom half of box on right side as you look in engine bay I have 2 pipe outlets with nothing connected to them, and no pipework left to attach to them!! Anyone know what these are for??
  22. Servo for brakes is working chris not 100% on vacuum pump gonna delve more tomorrow not had a chance today as been up to hospital with my daughter for eye check. So gonna look tomorrow and report back.
  23. right think the brakes problem is just a good bleed is neccesary, but still no furthur forward with the turbo, not getting anything from it, and when i go up a steep hill the car starts to slow down under full throttle, so am assuming the turbo isnt doing ANYTHING. Also just noticed speedo isnt doing anything either. Any ideas?
  24. Hi guys, well I promised I would post again when car was all legal for the road. Have taken her for her first voyage and I have hit along 3 problems if anyone could help then great. 1. Turbo isn't kicking in at all, not a sound all pipes have been off so could this be a wrong pipe attached somewhere if so anyone got a diagram of where the turbo pipes run to? 2. Temp gauge in car is working after a run which is good but it seems to be fluctuating almost bouncing but not if that makes sense and finally no 3. The nasty one brakes feel bad, now discs and pads on front look like they were new but car been sat for a while so have gone rusty not to bothered about that but when I keep brake pedal pressed it creeps to the floor, so I'm assuming I must have a leak somewhere or master cylinder is knackered. Can't see any visible leaks at the minute and I have a receipt for a new master cylinder that was fitted from a few years back. So any help with any of these 3 problems would be very greatfully received. Thank you. Andy
  25. Finally sorted. Removed the engine loom harness from the new engine( cts sensor, diesel pump power, gearbox plug etc) and refitted the old engine loom from old block. Reconnected and now solenoid has 12v when ignition on and nothing when it's off, so I'm assuming there was a fault in the engine loom. Only thing is it wont reduce voltage when ignition left on after 3 seconds, but that must be how the old engine was running so hopefully it will be alright as everything is running through ecu as it should. A very big thank you to chris for all your advice and diagrams. Just insured car, gotta wait to tax in now, but gives me a chance to check everything over before her maiden voyage. Will keep you all posted.
