Diesel Galaxy Engine Swap
Galaxy newbie replied to Galaxy newbie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've read online about flexplates instead of flywheels connected to the crankshaft, reason I'm asking is I'm trying to source an engine to mount to an automatic box. -
Hi guys am looking for another engine to attach to my automatic box. Are the manual engines attached the same way. Ie do they both have the same flywheel, or does the engine have something different to connect to the autobox. Sorry to sound stupid. Thanks. Andy

Galaxy newbie replied to Galaxy newbie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for the info Chris. -
Hi guys need a little help, I've been offered a mk2 ghia 1.9 tdi (auy) with a snapped cambelt. I have sourced another (auy) engine to fit into the car, but was not sure if any of the components. I.e fuel pump, injectors etc are coded to the car. Can anyone help on this one. Also as a random thought do the mk1 rear brake calipers(with handbrake system) fit on the mk2. Thanks in advance. Andy

Wheres The Eml On A Petrol Gal
Galaxy newbie replied to Galaxy newbie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
If it helps he has all the same lights on the dash console as my diesel incl the glow plug light. Do you think someone could have put the clocks from a diesel in it at some point. -
I know the diesels double up with the glow plug light. But my mate has bought a petrol gal that had no eml come on when first switching ignition on. So he's stripped the clock console down to the pcb thinking its a dodgy bulb but there is no place for the eml?? Anyone got any ideas. Thanks. Andy. P.s car is a 98 2.0 petrol mk 1

Yeah sorry a little confusing. I'm asking for a friend who bought an 's' plate gal 2ltr petrol and the management light doesnt come on at all when first putting keys in and turning the ignition dash lights on, and I think this is an mot failure. Just wondering if it would be worth pulling the clocks to check if the bulb has been removed? Thank you for your reply silverbeast. -
When u turn on the ignition the e.m.l doesn't light before going out, also airbag light is on all the time. Any ideas where to start guys? Would the eml mean a new centre console. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Andy

Big problem guys please help. Right my galaxy when I bought it came with a serpi star alarm. So I went to my brothers locked car leaving the keys in the car. Whilst there my brothers little girl decided to stick my alarm fob in a cup of coffee, and now it won't unlock the car although the light on the fob is working. So can anyone pm me a way to get into me car without breaking the drivers window and no I don't have a spare set of keys. I know I'm stupid!! Please help

Heated Front Screen
Galaxy newbie replied to Galaxy newbie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've also read on the ford Mondeo website that sometimes they replace the screen with a higher voltage screen, so I suppose it may be drawing to much current which has blown the fuse. I don't know will try autoglass in the morning and see what happens! -
Heated Front Screen
Galaxy newbie replied to Galaxy newbie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
So what should I be checking. Would it be the earthily strip that runs to the clock in the roof? I don't know where to start?? -
as above guys. Was coming home the other night with the heated screen on and noticed whispers of smoke coming from the instrument cluster ahhhhhhhhhhh panic. Anyways got car home and after checking bits and some research noticed the front heated screen wasn't working. So proceeded to check the fuses and have just found a melted f27 50amp which goes to the heated screen. Now question is why the he'll has it melted the fuse. What can I do to sort the problem. Obviously a new fuse but I'm scared if it happens again I will end up burning the car out with an electrical fire. Please help. Thanks. Andy P.s. Had the screen replaced by autoglass about 5 weeks ago. Not sure if this has anything to do with it!

Heeeelp Mot Fail
Galaxy newbie replied to Galaxy newbie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Ok regarding handbrale issue just checked the rear pads and there is very minimal material left so I'm hoping a new set of pads and a clean up of the calipers and mechanism will sort the handbrale problem out. Just need help regarding the steering wheel. Thanks. Andy -
Hi guys, advice on following:- 1. Horn insecure - I.e horn buttons have popped off the steering wheel. Now I've pulled the horn carrier out that the spring goes onto but the 4 securing lugs on it are broke so it won't hold the button in place can I buy the horn parts for the wheel separately. Cue anyone with tis. Order codes would be great if they are available separately. Otherwise I'm going to have to order a second hand wheel of eBay :-( 2. Parking brake inefficient - 10% - now I went under the car yesterday and tighten up the cable where the handbrale cable connects to the 2 rear wheel cables and that is to the max. So what's next course of action. Should I order some new handbrale cables ( as I heard they were prone to stretching) or do I need to adjust from the rear calipers, or could it be worn out rear pads. I've not had a chance to look yet only just got the car back. That is it though only 2 items apart from a cracked windscreen which I'm having replaced tomorrow. Please help with some advice. Thanks. Andy

Can the pipe be pulled out the sill then Chris, is it attached to something near the front of the car that needs undoing before I try and pull it out?
