  1. Its too big to upload, about 3.4Meg in size, but it zips down to 846kb. If you want it. send me your email address and I'll send it to you. Gordon
  2. Found the disk... I've quickly scanned the instructions and it involced copying a directory of the CD called PRICE and then running the program inside the dir called CRPRS.EXE. You point this to the data file, LexPrs.dat (also in the same dir) which will then copy the price list to a floppy. You then use the Maintenance function within EKTA to update the pricing... Does that shed any light at all or are your installs completely different??? Gordon.
  3. It was on the disk.... your going to make me look for the disk now aren't you..... give me a minute.... Gordon
  4. If I remember right you have to create a floppy disk with the price data on it, I did it when I first installed EKTA - 3 years ago  but have just never deleted the installation on the hard drive when reinstalling updating the computer and it just runs from the executable and retains the price info, which normally is within the ballpark figure quoted by the dealers. Any reference on the ekta disk relating to making a floppy disk? Gordon.
  5. My Sharan is exactly the same, the tyres have feathered the edges and are well worn after 8k. I mentioned it to the local tyre place when I was getting a puncture repaired and the guy wasn't too surprised at the feathered edges and had seen it quite a bit on this type of vehicle, especially one which does mostly 'local' driving. It still nags at me though, and I can keep from feeling something is not quite right, so I have had it in my mind to part with
  6. Have you removed the circlip at the top of the shaft? Mine wouldn't budge still so I resorted to brute force and hammers, and even then it took a bit of hammering. As long as you support the spindle and not support it on the metal tubes you shouldnt shear it. But be very careful... Gordon
  7. Are you going to disassemble the spindles? I found I could only loosen it so much with WD40, to do it properly required removing the spindles and cleaning them out - lots of dried up grease and corrosion inside. Then well greased before being put back together. Just be carefully removing the spindles and don't do what I did and break the casting.... Gordon
  8. I would question the engine management light thing, I'm sure you can have faults logged but not light any warning bulbs? I had power loss problems on my TDI which were releated to initially the MAF and in the end a replacement turbo, but in all that time I had no 'engine management' light. When the power loss occurred it would clear by turning the ignition on and off. I would go and talk to the dealers again, as the power loss issue is a direct safety problem and should not be ignored... ie pulling out at a busy junction and all of a suddent the power dies, not pleasant. Gordon.
  9. Sharan Mk2 2001 1.9TDI - 89000miles - Original clutch and still feels fine. Gordon.
  10. VAG-COM is designed for the vw engines, the VR6, TDI's, Sharan 2.0 & 1.8T; but NOT the Galaxy 2.0 or 2.3 which are a Ford units as you stated. There maybe some OBDII functionality that may work but this is beyond my knowledge (which isnt difficult )... I'm sure somebody else might know! I've got an OBDII piece of software for my PocketPC which should read faults and measurements but I haven't really tried it yet. Gordon
  11. If I remember correctly with the unregistered version you can only look at one measurement at a time and cant use 'VAG-Scope' to trace measurements. The big limitation is you cant write codes to the modules, for instance, enabling cruise control, trailer light indicator etc. Hope that adds a bit more light. I'm using an ebay serial lead, there would be nothing stopping you using a 10m serial extension I suppose.... Gordon
  12. The other big advantage of having air con (manual like mine or climate control) on during the winter is that it helps keep the windows clear as it removes the moisture from the air. When its damp the car mists up from the rear slowly towards the front when it is switched off. Gordon
  13. Mine is the same, manual heater controls, speed 1 & 2 not a lot of air, speeds 3 & 4 a lot better. When I first got mine there was hardly any air flow at all, only on recycle... this was fixed by replacing the pollen filter...... :D Gordon
  14. I thought the Shaz had the not so good vw 2.0l unit... which would talk to VAGCOM? :( Gordon
  15. Donning the anorak and Parkers guide, the 130ps engine seems to have been available sometime in 2002 onwards.... not that it matters in the greater scheme of things... your laughing if you've got a working MAF, 115 or 130! B) Gordon
  16. Am I right in thinking the 130 wasn't about in 2001... B) Gordon
  17. Yes address 18. Mine was simply the case of once I had the engine running it talked with no further issues. There are other posts where people have still struggled / failed to communicate with it even with the engine running. Pesky little wotsit! Gordon
  18. Mine wouldn't talk to the Aux Heater until I had the engine running. I'm using VAG COM 311.2N. Which is one of the reasons why I didnt think I had one fitted! Gordon
  19. That's the best bit, ISOFIX does not use the seat belt but the ISOFIX mountings built into the seat. Its a standard that the car manufacturers agreed on for a common seat mounting system. I'm guessing your Sharan is newer than 1998 so it will have the mounts just where the back of the seat folds on the base. I've just looked at the Britax site and it appears they now produce an ISOFIX newborn seat. Link to Britax Gordon.
  20. My Sharan has the same, lap belt in the centre, and we had the same issue when we had our 3rd child. I wasn't happy whilst using rearward facing baby seat, as our eldest had to sit in the middle seat or the back. Once the baby was old enough we bought the Britax ISOFIX seat and put that in the centre, and now the other 2 children have the proper 3-point seat belts. The ISOFIX is excellent and is quick to fit and remove + solid as a rock. Gordon
  21. I had to use a converter when I replaced the factory fit Blaupunkt in my Sharan with a Blaupunkt MP3 head unit. Gordon.
  22. The front pockets in the front doors I think are a bit of a vw thing, I remember my mk2 Golf had similar. Gordon.
  23. From reading around on the subject VAG COM may not neccessarily show the glow plug at fault. Mine had been in lock-out since I bought it, once I managed to talk to it with VAG-COM it had repeated flame out errors. The official line on this error is replacement of the metering pump or complete unit, but many have found changing the glow plug + clean out have solved the problem, indicating that the glow plug has not failed but become less effective. Since I re-enabled mine it worked fine for 3 months, with one or two smoke effect instances but then a couple of weeks ago locked out again. I foolishly cleared the faults again only to be treated to constant smoke screens... I am going to replace the glow plug and clean the heater out, but I've got to wait to recover from my hernia op first! I have yet to work out which glowplug to replace it with as ekta quotes 7DO 963 319 but people have mentioned updated versions... plus gasket kits. Gordon
  24. Do a search on "power loss", make sure you check all forums and any date in the search options. Gordon.
