hi after all the work and money spent on the car it still bloody failed the mot on emissions does anyone know what are the most common things to start looking for when a car fails the mot on this . this is the cars last chance or it will be gone to the scrap yard in the sky any help welcome

Hi Dave What makes you think you have air in the system ? Radiotwo heater in car goes cold when not revved and cooling fans not running properly

hi you cant bill the garage for all that you dont even know for sure whats wrong with it you have to take some responsibility yourself you should of got it check out before you bought it i know what i would say if i was the garage

hi think i have air in the water system any advice on how to get the air out someone said there should be a bleed valve somewhere any one got any ideas cheers dave

yes we have had a 2nd hand engine put in cause the head gasket went on ours so quite possible that the hoses have some oil contamination all though i under stand that these engines run hot i don't agree that the gauge should just go in the red before the fans cut in can someone please tell me if there are 3 speeds on the fan i think speeds 1/2 are not working would a vag com lead help with this problem and no the car has not been chipped cheer Dave

as ive said in other post can't get speeds 1/2 working on the cooling fan for the radiator so the temp just before it goes into the red fan speed 3 come on and pulls the temp back to just over half this only happens when sitting in traffic when driving the temp gauge sits about half way am i right in thinking that this engine has 3 fan speeds can any body tell me for sure when driving we get a really hot heater (lovely in this weather) does this mean that the thermostat is working??? please help as wife is shall we say get a little fed up cheers dave

YOu have a serious problem - maybe a blocked radiator, but more likely a failed head gasket/cracked cylinder head. Pipes should never burst - the coolant cap will vent first. oh s--t dont say that its a new rad only a few days old there is no sign of water in the oil or the other way round

hmm....dont know about that..... Has the system ever been drained or lost water? Could be an airlock above the heater matrix. If the car is fitted with the infamous plastic impeller pump, then the impeller becomes detached from the shaft usually causing overheating problems. hi yes its had loads and loads of water leaks go through more water then petrol (and thats saying something on the thirsty 2.8 v6) what would be the best way to try and get rid of the air lock if thats what it is

hi all is there such a thing as a diagram of all the water senses /switches and relays so i can try to get to the bottom of this problem cause at the moment hoses keep bursting as its getting so hot (one burst and covered the mot inspector in coolent not a happy chap) please help

hi all is there a test you can do to see if the water pump is not working properly while it is still on the car the problem is heater only blows out hot when you rev it if sitting in traffic it blows cold so someone said it could be the water pump as its a big job to remove on the 2.8v6 was hoping to do a test any help chaps cheers Dave

hi all car failed its mot today on offside front track rod end ball joint offside front suspension arm rubber bush this may be a very silly question but if i buy a new front suspension arm does this have the track rod end ball joint on it hope it makes sense

hi all i have a 2.8 v6 galaxy mk1 97 i belive that the engine fans which there is 2 are controled in 3 speeds low med high can anyone please tell me what controls these speeds is it a senser also where is the senser of the temp gauge cheers dave

hiya no neither have i but look at your fuse box where i said and change fuse 35 and it will work

This should be fairly straight forward. All the cig lighter/12v sockets are fed from the same fuse, which one did you check/replace? Should be Fuse 35 20amp after alot of trouble and lack of the right info i have sorted it this fuse no 35 which does the cigar lighter and the rear sockets it is in the main fuse box right up high you have to get on your hands and knees to see it on the left hand side ive downloaded a diagram let me know how you get on but im sure this will fix it dave

if you have dried it out and it still doesnt work then i would think you will need a new one this unit also controls the interior lights just one thing try cleaning the the plug and the unit maybe one of the pins are corroded
