You're a braver man than I, that sounds scary  I like the look of their auto clutch perfect for those lazy bank holidays stuck in a stop/start traffic jam :D Howard

Sorry John I wasn't implying you were getting upset about this, I just mean't Ford would be annoying the very customers they want to keep happy. Howard P.S. Am I right in assuming from your reply that you work for Ford or have I read that wrong.

Nimrod What did it run on? Surely not petrol :D . That would sound like an inferno waiting to happen  Howard

The auxillary heater is only available on the diesel. Not sure what you can see but it's not a heater. It's possibly the evaporator and fan for the dual aircon. Howard

While I know Ford own the copyright to the TIS CD, I can't see why they get uptight about people having it. It's not like a music CD that a company sells and they lose revenue if people copy it. They don't sell it and therefore don't lose money from it. The only arguement I could possibly see is people will do their own repairs if they have the cd but people will do that anyway. The only people they will upset by getting aggresive about this are the very people who buy their cars. Howard

Oh boy, twins, tell me about it  .My twins are now 7 years old, those first 6 months I have never been so tired in my life. Worth it though. As for the cars, check they have a full service record and if you can, get an inspection done on it. It's also worth an hpi check. There's no reason why a high miler diesel shouldn't go on for many thousands more miles without trouble if it's been looked after. Check the interior for damage though and that the aircon works etc. The 2003 is still within warranty but the BT one will be outside even if it's not yet 3 years old because of the mileage. Howard

www.roofbox.co.uk Bought mine from there. A very good company to deal with. Very friendly and knowledgable. Howard

It could be one of the switches on the brake pedal (there are 2) these can fail or become out of adjustment and cause the light to flash. Howard

Mind you it's bound to be more expensive when it goes wrong  Howard

The 2.8 has always come with dual aircon as standard hence the bigger compressor and I'm fairly certain now that the dual aircon has a bigger compressor whether standard in the 2.8 or as fitted as an option in the other models therefore does deliver more cool air. Howard

That's worth knowing. Cheers Howard

Try a forum search on aircon problems. There is a wealth of info here about this. While your doing that don't forget to vote on the poll I have set up about aircon problems. Howard -
iirc you will need to get the key programmed by a Ford dealer. You can program your own key if you have another key that is already programmed for your car but as you state this is your only key I think your only option will be to get the chip programmed for you. Howard

I don't think it's at the expense of the front cooling as I get bags of cold air coming out front and back (wouldn't want it any colder!). It maybe that the dual aircon has a larger compressor to allow for the extra cooling needed. Howard

Don't know if this is any use to you but there is a set of Galaxy manuals on Ebay at the moment. Most of the controls will be the same. Howard

Paint it white, stick a Vauxhall Astramax badge on the back and get driven around by a seventeen year old, it's the fastest production car in the world according to Top Gear :o Howard

The Galaxy manual states "For vehicles with single A/C, the rear temperature can be set to a maximum of 3 degrees higher but no lower than the front temperature setting" Just noticed it also says "The rear air conditioning operates only in recirculated air mode" well thats a load of old cobblers, mine operates whether in recirculate or not. Unless they mean the air in the back is just conditioned and recirculated and the only fresh air conditioned air comes in from the front. Not very clear at all. Just as an aside here, I managed to get a three seater settee in the back of mine today and close the rear door. Mind you, as the wife pointed out, I had just turned it back into a five seater B) Howard

Dual aircon is now standard on all Ghia models not just the 2.8. Howard

Can you turn off an electronic baby? Would be useful, mine's just hit the 18 month screaming temper tantrums stage. Makes shopping trips great fun. Tuts from old people and sympathetic looks from other parents and getting her back in the car.... it's quicker to walk B) Howard

Thats not sleep, it's a hypothermia induced coma B) Howard

How do you never use it? If you mean you always have the front and back temps the same, you are still using it because dual aircon supplies conditioned air through the rear vents even with both temps set the same. Single aircon only supplies conditioned air through the front vents and ordinary ambient air to the floor vents in the back. Howard

I hardly think it's obsessing. I spent ages going over the specs of the car even after I'd ordered it. Howard

You could try removing the plastic surround round the steering column to check if anything is catching that. If it's still doing it, try getting someone to stick their head down there while it does it to narrow down where the noise is coming from. Just don't get seen by the police, they might think you're doing a Gillian Taylforth :D :D :D Howard

Nimrod, you need to seek help with this obsessive brochure collecting. Have you considered "Brochures Anonymous" :D Howard

It was fitted in mine and I've seen several others with it while being nosy in car parks so you never know you could get lucky, it is very useful. The other difference is the material of the seats and trim. The new Galaxy material is nowhere near as nice as the older trim you will have, it looked cheap when I saw the new Galaxy in the showroom.
