Aux Heater ? And Other Noises
HJT replied to Jeff115's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The old jet engine spooled up on my Galaxy on wednesday morning too, and I'm in the southeast of England. Howard -
"Can the rear pair of rear seats be stowed folded up and hinged up to make more space?" In theory yes, in practice with difficulty. You need to move the middle row of seats right forward, fold up the rear seats then move the middle seats back against the folded rear seats to stop them falling back to the floor when you accelerate. This also leaves marks in the fabric on the seats. Not sure whether the cover will go over these as I don't have one. If you don't have the cover as a factory fit option, it is quite tricky to fit as you need you get a fixing kit to screw into the side panels at the back, can be done though as I believe some forum members have done it. Tried this with mine tonight. The fronts definately don't come on with mine unless you've selected reverse or pressed the button. I have had one thought though Jim, you've got an auto and to get from park to drive, you have to pass through reverse, I imagine that the sensors get switched on as you do this or the sensors are wired differently for an auto box. Howard

Yeah, I reckon if I took the seats out of my Galaxy, I could fit one in the back  Howard

Had a Ka Collection before the 3rd child came along and absolutely loved the car. Handled superbly in town and on the motorway. I remember driving along the M40 and glancing at the speedo at one point and it was reading 90 mph and would have gone faster. Great fun to drive. Having a wheel at each corner really makes them corner well. Howard

Looks nice. A very professional job. Doesn't scream "boy racer" or "look at me everybody". Especially like the roof spoiler, not what I imagined from your earlier posts but really adds to the look. Howard

WHOOAA. DON'T SHOUT. WE CAN ALL HEAR AT THE BACK

Have you tried disconnecting the MAF sensor as described in other postings, if so what was the result. Howard

Is Galaxy A Reliable Car?
HJT replied to Ventoux's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I wonder if the reliability is any better or worse for the dual aircon systems. Not sure how different the mechanics would be. Knowing my luck, it just means there's twice as much to go wrong. Howard -
Hi Jim Could you post some pics when your body kit job is done, I'd like to see it. Howard

How To Protect The Vehicle
HJT replied to Ventoux's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
My mother inlaw is a rotweiller so I just leave her stuck to the dash :D :D    Howard -
They should do. I believe the pre facelift and facelift bodies are the same. Howard

This Is What I Call A Proper Ice
HJT replied to _dg's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
That's smart. Mind you, you could spend so long looking at the screen it could give a whole new meaning to crashing your computer :D :D :) :) :) Howard -
It does sound as though you might have a fault in them if people walking by in slow moving traffic set them off. I have never had this problem. They should definately switch off at 15 kph or 10 mph and only come on when you select reverse or press the button on the console. Howard

I thought it was all facelift Galaxys that had the 3 point anchor for the middle seat. Seems I was wrong. It must have been soon after the facelifts introduction though, as every new shape I've seen has the 3 point belt. Howard
-
Not quite sure what you mean by switching them off. They are only active when you go into reverse or switch them on in forward below 15 kph and then they are noticable if there is something in front or behind which makes them bleep, which is the point of parking sensors! Howard

What kind of roof spoiler? For airflow over a caravan or boy racer whaletail :P Just curious. Howard
-
It depends on your driving style but quoted figures are about 2-3 mpg less than the 2.0 so about 23-25 in mixed conditions. If that is a problem for you, you could always look at getting it converted to LPG. Howard

Climate Control Fault Codes
HJT replied to Ivor_E_Tower's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Blimey Ivor, did you cut and paste, or was that a marathon typing session  If it works that looks like useful info, thanks. Howard -
Yes i forgot to mention that. If you have vents in the roof you have dual aircon, if you haven't got vents in the roof it's single aircon but you will still have seperate controls for front and back temperatures but the air in the back will not be cooled. Howard
-
Unless you have the optional dual aircon the air from the rear vent wont be cold. Howard

I have recently bought a roofbox and bars for my Galaxy from www.roofbox.co.uk. The bars were Thule and the box was Fapa. I was going to go for a Thule box but the chap at Roofbox recomended Fapa as they were better quality and cheaper! The people there are very helpful and certainly know their stuff. The delivery was very prompt to. I am very pleased with the bars and box. Howard

The easiest way to check if you have an alarm is to sit inside the car, lock it with the remote then after a few seconds, move around in the car and see if the alarm goes off. Howard

Is Galaxy A Reliable Car?
HJT replied to Ventoux's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The Sharan is higher priced and doesn't come with as much kit as standard according to the brochure. The VW badge is seen as more prestigious than Ford or Seat hence the price difference. The Galaxy has been tweaked by Ford with some Ford parts i.e. vent grills, radio etc and the Galaxy has a different selection of engines but they are fundamentally all the same car. I believe that Ford have also tweaked the ride and handling on the Galaxy. Howard -
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Galaxy :) . Overfill seems to be quite common problem. Mine was about half a cm over the mark but I can live with that this time but will mention it next service. Howard
