  1. My climate control shows AUTO with any number of fan bars showing. This time of year the fan bars are usually only on 2 and still shows AUTO. Very confusing design. I've never been really sure when the aircon is running. During the winter I tend to run the system on LO for 15 minutes a week to keep the system turned over, then the rest of the time on AUTO at 21 degrees. Howard
  2. The aircon will need to be cooler to keep the interior temperature right when the outside temperature is hotter. Howard
  3. My mpg is better when I drive. With the wife driving we get an average of 4 mpg less! Mind you I'm 41 and she's only 39 so in a couple of years time it should be better if your chinese proverb is right  Howard
  4. According to previous postings, the output of the aircon gets colder as the ambient temperature gets hotter. Hopefully later in the year it will feel as cold again. I thought the same this weekend so I got out the thermometer to check but it's within range. Howard
  5. This is from a previous post by Gazza that he obtained from a Seat Dealer. Ambient temp Output temp 18 8-12 20 7-11 25 6-10 30 5-9 35 4.5-8.5 Howard
  6. Technical Information System CD that the Ford Dealers have. It contains all the service, repair and technical bulletins about the Ford range including the Galaxy. Very useful once you learn to use it ( it's not very user friendly). Available on Ebay. Howard
  7. I believe (though I stand to be corrected) that the court ruling only applied to new cars and that the sale of goods and services act still applied with regard to used cars. Howard
  8. I get plenty of e-mails for tablets to help with the expected but non functioning horns    Ho hum there goes my first red square Howard
  9. The Sale of Goods and Services Act states that goods should be of a merchantable quality and fit for the purpose for which they are sold. Your car clearly is not. I would state in writing that you will give them one more chance to correct all the faults, if this is not done then you will reject the car and demand a full refund. Good luck Howard
  10. Try Wicked Wheels. Haven't used them myself but have heard they are good. Howard
  11. My climate control unit doesn't make any noise at all. If it's annoying you I would demand they sort it, you paid enough money for the car it should be right. We shouldn't have to put up with this b.s. from them. There are a lot of dealers who seem to have forgotten who the customer is. I seem to be lucky with my local dealer. They seem interested in keeping the customer happy. Howard
  12. The light shouldn't flash. I guess this is your Galaxy's way of saying your parking sensor is sick. If you are still under the 3 year warranty I would go back your main dealer. The speakers for the front and back sensors are in different locations. One is under the passenger seat and I believe the other is at the rear somewhere. Sorry I can't be more specific I'm at work at the moment. I will look it up on my TIS CD tonight unless someone else comes up with the answer before. Howard
  13. Sounds like you have fallen foul of the dreaded unreliable aircon system thats plagues the Galaxy. It's likely you have a leak as this seems to be an achilles heel of the system. I would suggest finding a good aircon specialist in your area rather than a Ford main dealer if your not under warranty. Do a search on the forum for aircon / climate control problems as there is a lot of info out there. Good luck Howard
  14. Is the aircon actually working, ie you are getting cold air out of the vents? Howard
  15. Sounds like a belt slipping somewhere. Check the belt tensions and or renew any suspect ones. Howard
  16. Are you getting any blue smoke out the back? If you are it could be worn valve guides. I've had this before on another car, top end tap, blue smoke on start up and hard acceleration turned out to be valve guides. Howard
  17. Can you tell which area of the engine the noise is coming from? Howard
  18. Stick with it on the CD, they are very useful once you have learn't how to navigate them and how you do that depends on what you are looking for. Problem solving and rectifying is navigated differently from servicing and maintenance. Haven't needed to use mine much for a while so I can't remember exact details at the moment. Howard
  19. Did your friend say if they had a seat belt on or not, because yes you can reverse the second row of seats but obviously the belts don't work. Howard
  20. Coo, Kaboom. Bet that went with a bang  Howard
  21. Knackered bottom end will usually still knock even at tickover. The fact that it sounds bad at higher revs could still be the dead turbo as this doesn't spin up until the revs build up. I would definately get it checked by a reputable expert. Howard
  22. Is the engine definately dead? I wouldn't put it past a garage to say you need a whole new engine when you just need a new turbo. Did the engine seize or did your wife stop the car as soon as the smoke appeared? I would seek a second and third opinion before buying a replacement. Howard
  23. Sounds like you have answered your own question when you say your central locking ECU is water damaged I would imagine thats what is causing the behavior. Hopefully when you replace it your problem will be resolved. Howard
  24. Rain or dirt can cause misdetection (is there such a word? :o ) Try cleaning them and see if that helps. You can tell which set is giving the reading as the front has a different tone to the rear, one pitch is higher than the other (can't remember which is which). Howard
  25. Do you have a tow bar fitted? Howard
