  1. I'm in total agreement with MM, maybe the language was a bit stronger than I would have used but the sentiment was spot on. There has always been a lot of banter and micky taking in here, which is something I have always enjoyed. We have had several newbies in the past who have come on and immediately taken offence at a bit of ribbing. I just wish newbies would lurk for a while and see how things run around here before flaming longstanding contributors. Howard
  2. Didn't realise the doors would unlock in the event of a crash. Howard
  3. I'm sure Ivor could knock something up with a few bits of 3x2 and some sticky back plastic. <_< :D :D Howard
  4. Hmmmm. I'm assuming SA Intruder doesn't post on here anymore. He used to have a lot to say about chipping and none of it good. Howard
  5. 1. Howard 2. Whitstable 3. 2002 Ghia TDI 4. 2 years 5. Yes definately 6.
  6. I supplied them 5 litres and asked for the half a litre back for top ups, that way you can at least see your oil has been used for something (hopefully in your engine and not someone elses). Howard
  7. It's very strange that the Skoda diesels which use the same engine have the belt change quoted as 100,000 miles. Does anyone know if they use a different belt? If so, why can't we use it? Howard
  8. ....and some that are speed sensitive so they drop down a speed when you stop. Howard
  9. Loads of roundabouts. We have the same problem here in Kent. Howard
  10. Eurocats were mentioned on a previous posting somewhere. Don't know them and never used them but they could be worth a call. Howard
  11. Pressing the clutch will also disengage the cruise control. Howard
  12. Unfortunately this is something that needed doing when the car was first bought because it's not actually a failure and therefore not covered by the warranty. If the hinge or lock had failed then it would be covered. Howard
  13. Almost certainly, you'll notice it most at low speeds. Your dealer should fix this under warranty. I had the same thing on mine but noticed it on the test drive so insisted they fix it before I paid for the car and this was at only 18,000 miles. Howard
  14. There hasn't been a Ghia X since the facelift but that didn't stop every company we got quotes from stating our 2002 Ghia was a Ghia X. Doesn't give you much faith in them does it. Howard
  15. Warranty is only valid until 3 years or 60,000 miles. Howard
  16. Not with 84,000 on the clock....... <_< Howard
  17. If the fault occured and was notified inside the warranty period then it is definately covered. Johnb80 posting was an opinion which you can legally state. He didn't say they do treat customers like this he said IF they treat customers like this. It's a very fine line but Johnb80 stayed within it. Howard
  18. Yep, but you will need to make sure you have opened the bonnet recently otherwise it won't reset as it thinks the service hasn't been done. Howard
  19. Hold down the trip meter button and turn on the ignition. Howard
  20. Just found this on the net. Where such a vehicle is stopped and the window tints applied are such that the Visible Light Transmission level, when measured using an approved device falls to below prescribed levels, the following enforcement guidelines have been agreed with, and recommended, by the Government. Above 30% Visible Light Transmission (Less Severe Window Tints) The owner or driver of such a vehicle will be required to have the tinted film removed from the windows under the direction of either a Rectification Notice or a Delayed Prohibition Notice, A period of grace will apply for a limited number of days (normally ten) during which time the vehicle may be driven whilst the rectification work is to be completed. In either case, the vehicle will need to be inspected by either a Police Officer or Vehicle Inspectorate Officer to confirm that the glass has been restored to a compliant condition. Prosecution is unlikely in such circumstances provided the vehicle owner complies fully. Below 30% Visible Light Transmission (Excessively dark Window Tints) The owner or driver of such a vehicle may be issued with an Immediate Prohibition Notice and immediately prevented from driving the vehicle o
  21. Yep there definately is a law about tinting and you are only allowed a certain percentage on the side and front windows. I believe there are exceptions to this but not sure what they are you would need to look it up. Try a google search on window tinting and the law (as the BBC would say "other search engines are available" :D ) Howard
  22. NOOOoooooo. I have mentioned this before but I will say it again. This will break the paint seal where the window frame meets the door and allow moisture in. 18 months to 2 years down the line you will be getting corrosion. I had exactly the same thing with a Renault, the dealer just bent the frame in when I complained about a gap at the top of the door and sure enough 18 months later rust was bubbling under the surface. Mine was fixed under warranty as the garage had done the damage. Howard
  23. Hi Welcome to the forum. Make sure the aircon is working. It's horrendously expensive to fix if it isn't and with car with this much glass you need it. Agree with the previous, if you can go for the diesel you won't regret it, I get about 40 mpg around town with the climate control on. Good luck Howard
  24. Sounds like a broken wire where the loom enters the tailgate, it's a common problem. Try a search on this, there is quite a lot of info on repairs. Howard
  25. I think as of February this year it is now considered a criminal not civil offence along with owning hardware and software allowing copying of copyrighted material. Howard
