Difficult to say really - it doesn't appear to be specifically any one - It doesn't do it with Motorhead Ace of Spades but it does do it with Ocean Drive!! It isn't necessarily base or treble. Coulkd it be a whole channel up the pictures?

My Stereo is sodding about again. I had the osr speaker go bang a few weeks ago - well not exactly bang - it started buzzing and got so that you couldn't hear properly. I removed the speaker and replaced it and the problem seemed to go away - Only now I noticed it again - It's definitely only coming from the right channel and not all the time - it depends what kind of music (no jokes please!!!). It is the original system with the 6 CD changer in the back. Any ideas?

Vag Maf Defects
Bigjeeze replied to edwardoplunkett's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Difficult one this - My 97 Gal has the original and it is still working fine after 120K(so far!) My 2001/2 still has the original and is still fine at 80K miles. Some are just unlucky I guess! -
Air Conditioning...i'm Curious.
Bigjeeze replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
That is my experience also - My wife's Galaxy (1997 Tdi) has had a new receiver dryer (accumalator) and the re gas since new and at 120k miles the Air Con is still going fine - Air con is always on even if only to de mist - It still retunrs 40mpg around town and 48-52 on a run. My Galaxy (MK11) has 80K - I strill also alwaysleave air con on - but this one did have the usual CC faults - replaced Condenser, Comperssor etc (due I am sure to the incompetence of the workshop). Always leave it on!! -

Bigjeeze replied to Bigjeeze's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion

Yes I have!! I was rushing to help my mate who had just driven through a large puddle in his VR6 and LOST his undertray as a result. I managed to get up to 71MPH before I blanked out. I came to at about 55mph when the oxygen supply cut in. My mates car was totalled - aparrently the Power steering pump became so waterlogged it flew off and took the front wheels with it. These pills taste nice Biggles BORING!!!!! We can surely all agree to disagree on this one!!

Nutcracker I would recommend the full strip down as although I did apply WD40 it didn't last long. To remove the whole wiper mechanism isn't that difficult. All you do is remove the wiper arms - then there are three bolts - one at each end by the spindles and one in the middle by the wiper motor. You also have to undo the electrical clip off the side of the motor. Once you have the unit out remove the half circlip on each spindle - you can also remove the bolt on joint to the connect rod and the ball & socket joint at the other end. You can then carefully turn the spindle until if frees off and hopefully comes out of the shaft. Once it does you can clean it and apply a good waterproof grease and reassemble. Fitting is the reverse of removal. On mine I found it helped to remove the two bolts that hold the expansion tank to the battery tray so that i had some extra room. If you leave it you run the real rsik of the motor burning out - and that is very very expensive. Hope that helps Regards Gary

Hijacker apologies for the delayed response - The answer is no - I bottled out - At the moment I am painting the outside of the house, and i just haven't had the time so I sent the 97 TDi into my local BT Garage (I work for BT and they do jobs I don't want to!). They had it for half a day and it came back fine. I bought my own parts from GSF - they alos replaced the Power Steer belt and charged me

Hi All I noticed this morning that my drivers side wiper wasn't wiping to the usual spot (ie the dirt was still there!) - and after remembering the fun and games various members have had with this I investigated. I found the spindle was quite hot and was flexing where it bolts to the body. I also noted a lsight electrical burning smell. So I thought I may as well strip it out. I did and managed to remove the spindle which was dry as dust - so I greased it well put it back and did the nearside one for luck, all within an hour and a half. All is now well and my wipers travel to the fullest extent as before. Once again bearing in mind MM's comments on another thread - Thank you guys for sharing this info - after reading about it on this forum I identiefied the problem straight away and have probably saved myself a new mechanisim and motor. Cheers Gary :D

Many thanks I'll do that. I have the special tool kit and the pliers. Cheers Gary

Hi All My 51 Plate MK11 has suddenly developed a buzzing sound from the OSR Door speaker - and after fiddling about a bit I discovered that I have lost the right hadn channel altogether. I have the feeling it is a fault in the speaker - but am not sure how to check. How do you get to the speaker - I can't see any way of getting it off without damaging the door panel. Any advice gratefully received! Big Jeeze

Hi Seatkid - Thanks but I don't have a Sun roof and the windows are all tightly shut. If it has internal sensors - where are they? I haven't noticed any. Cheers Bigjeeze

Can anyone advise me please. My alarm (it's the one that comes as standard) occasionally goes off for no obvious reason. I park the car either locking the doors with the key or the fob and after a while the alrm suddenly goes off. I reset and it happens again. Sometimes straight away other times not for hours. Any ideas?

Just Put Half A Tank Of Unleaded In!
Bigjeeze replied to Ogben Schmutzel's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Oggy You are one of around 100,000 plus motorists a year in the UK who do this - It's so common it's a joke. My Dad did it to his 6 week old Zafira, My S0n to a Peugeot 307 with only 5000 miles on the clock. In both cases they were drained and refilled with no obvious problems. Provided you remove as much if not all petrol as possible and dilute it with good clean Diesel I am sure you will be OK. Sleep well! -
Help Needed-gear Cable

Hi All I had a problem last week when some of the more frequently used gears went missing in the wife's 97 TDI. After perusing the site I found various postings on the methods used by members to get round the problem. But after remembering that the Missus drives it and she wouldn't be able to re fit the connector I decided to do the job properly. Well after paying

Hi Peeps :) I am it appears, the latest victim of the disappearing Gears . My wife's 97 TDI suddenley lost 1st 2nd,5th and reverse. I remembered reading about this and so did a search and came across lots of useful information. I managed to get my hands to the troubled area and to put the cable back on the ball joint end. What I want to know is that despite reading all the posts about ingenious repairs, albeit temporary; Is the wear on the cables, or on the ball on the Gear box. So, do I just buy new cables - and spend four hours fitting or do I need to develop freaky arms to replace the slector on the gearbox.? Any advice gratefully received. Jeeze
