  1. When you have fitted the new barrel, insert one of the new keys and use it to carry out the red-key proceedure, but hold the red key next to it so the PATS system thinks the red key is being used.
  2. The big padlocks won't save them, HMCR don't have rules to follow when it comes to warrants.
  3. Pah! So slow..... Now this is fast acceleration http://www.grouchymedia.com/other_media/ma...Ride_sm.wmv.zip
  4. OK, if you have a working red master key you can program your other keys up with that!
  5. The parts catalogue shows as part number: G 052 162 A2 Description: atf (automatic transm. fluid) for manual gearbox
  6. Yes, they are the correct keys, one remote, one standard. But there are two versions of the transponders so as long as yours is pre year 2000 you should be fine. As for programing them, VAG-COM will do it, I am in Northants though. Perhaps someone else can help you on that side of things. Do you currently have any keys that work, it may be possible to swap the chips over?
  7. What year is your car and is it a five or six speed box?
  8. The keys need to be the correct transponder keys and will need programed to the car. This will need to be done at the dealers or perhaps by someone with VAG-COM, what are do you live in, perhaps someone here can help for a small consideration. Paste a link to the auction and we can look and see what you have bought.
  9. Not according to the TIS is is not. The fluid is different. MTF should have been used.
  10. If it is not a PD, then don't use semi-sythetic or synthetic oil for running in a rebuilt engine. Do the first 500 miles on a mineral oil.
  11. Short out the temperature sensor near the wiper mechanism, under the bonnet Yep, it is on the passenger side, clipped to the wiper mechanism stay. Best thing for shorting it out is a 10amp mini-fuse. I have mine permanently connected this way at the moment, and the heater comes on when the coolant is below about 70 degrees. Once it gets above that it goes onto low output then when the engine is fully warmed up it goes off.
  12. I will just throw in my tuppence worth onto the end of this one since winter 2005 closes in. Glow plugs are available from your VW dealer. They are
  13. Late reply, I know, but.... The sensor is clipped to the wiper arm mechanism under the bonnet on the nearside.
  14. I would just remove the top and bottom hoses and put a garden hose in packed with rag and turn on the tap.
  15. Does your air-con work OK? The flashing panel normally means low gas pressure.
  16. Is your heater working? Mine works OK, but I can't get it to talk to VAG-COM, so no idea what errors I would be getting.
  17. Mine is the same. I am not too worred as VAG-COM shows everything fine on mine.
  18. Does yours have a time switch. If not it won't have a pump.
  19. Well if the fans are not working then the next logical sterp is to feel the radaitor and see if it is very hot. If it is cold/warm then suspect the thermostat or pump If it is very hot then suspect the fan switch/wiring/fuse/motor. Do you have manual aircon? If so switch it on and the fans should work.
  20. Freezer bag clips are very good for this.
  21. No nothing wrong. GO is the Vxl aftermarket battery and is every bit as good as the Vxl branded item. I can get GO batteries "Trade Club"
  22. Is that a GO one or a red topped Vx badged one?
  23. I think your problem goes beyond the switch. I would be looking for broken wires and bad earths.
  24. The problem lies in finding the right remote. There are 3 and you want the 433mhz 2 button one. As for the blank keys you need one with a Phillips transponder chip in and there are two versions of that too. You want the earlier one which should have the letters "CV" on the back. Ok, so you have the key with the correct chip. Now you need the 4 digit SKC for the PATS and VAG-COM, either that or it is into the dealers... And if your talking about a "Flip" remote key then there are 5 different types and I don't know if any of those work with the Shalaxy
  25. There is no overflow pipe as such, it just blows out the cap. Normally that leaves a residue though. so it is easy to spot.
