  1. I concur, stat or pump in that order....
  2. It is described by some alarms as an anti-carjacking system, when the car goes over 10mph the doors are automatically locked. You can do this with many VAG cars, but not the Alhambra/Sharan, and you need VAG-COM. So I doubt very much it can be done on a Galaxy.
  3. Does it have a bonnet switch next tot he right hand bonnet hinge? The Ultrasonic sensors for the alarm are in the pods on the B pillers behind the front seats, look in and see if you can see them. The door LED is for the PATS and not the alarm.
  4. This is the first time I have seen anyone complain about the heater starting up..... Anyone would think diesel was over
  5. As a Pipex Residential customer I can't say that I have had any problems, just 3 years of ADSL where it has works without a single outage and the tree times I have called customer services I have got straight through and the issue resolved in a few minutes. I can't speak for the business side though, John's problems seem quite bad. Pipex have been throttleing you connection if your using Bittorrent though, but if you use encrypted headers (most of the new clients do as an option) then there is no problem. :)
  6. Yep, if the battery is flat your going to get no spark as clearly the alternator is not generating enough power. Your alternator is the most likely suspect here as with a good alternator the car will run with the battery disconnected.
  7. An excellent piece of kit Dave, I have one, but bear in mind the use of them is not legal in the UK.
  8. Pipex are good, but limit your newsgroup downloads. Bulldog are cheap but if your not on a LLU exchange your not going to get higher speeds than you have now.
  9. The TIS disk is copywrite so you will just have to hunt until you find one. The later version is a DVD by the way. The service sheet generator is a seperate program from the TIS and should be installed with the TIS. Look in Start Menu, All Programs, Technical Information System, Check Sheet Generator.
  10. It is on the headlight switch assembly, it is a wheel that you roll up and down to move the headlight aim up and down...
  11. Do you not have a headlamp level adjuster switch on the dash?
  12. NO they are Ford PCD and not VAG who make the galaxy!
  13. Just my opinion chap, there will be those who swear by them.
  14. Team Dynamics are too soft, a slight clump of the kerb or a biggish pot-hole and your looking at a buckled rim.
  15. Nope, it is likely fine (for a 112K clutch, mine is fine and is on 130K). Best way to check the clutch is to do a stall-test and note the biting point. Don't do it too hard if the owner is watching!
  16. Cats look down on you, dogs look up to you!
  17. As the clutch is hydraulic it is unlikely to be the clutch... (Yes, I know that sounds daft!)
  18. I don't know what he pipe is made from, is it aluminium, if so most likely it has corroded internally and the pressure is enough to have burst it. But I am confused as anyone else as to why the pressure cap did not blow, it does not take much on this car.
  19. I thought that if you unlocked the right hand door it thought it was a right and drive and defaulted to Fahrenheit, unlock it from the left door lock and it thinks it is a left hand drive and goes to Celsius! OK perhaps not.....
  20. I would be inclined to fix it properly whilst the dash is out.

  22. Was it brand new? If so I would be looking for a replacement.
  23. Nah, thats not the cause of the overheat, but must have been failing for it to blow. How quick was the car overheating? Was it when there was load on the engine the gauge soared or was it a gradual climb?
  24. Conventional flywheels are made from a single billet of high quality steel and the flywheel is cut and made from that, machined into a single piece. A dual mass flywheel has the center facing and the back plate from the high quality billet steel. The problem is you must fit the parts together in a way that allows for the transfer of power from the engine to the transmission. This is normally done with springs and pins which make the take up of power smoother and help with damping engine vibrations. My next door neighbours brand new Mondeo had to go back at 3 weeks old when the dual mass flywheel failed. http://www.rv8.ch/images/articles/20050130151813622_1_original.JPG
