  1. You only need the ignition on to read any stored codes, you don't need to start the engine. Just turning the ignition on won't wipe the codes.
  2. It is a must to avoid Luton after 6, absolutely. You would be better off setting off in good time to get through the M1 roadworks early, try to get to the M25 before 5.45am.
  3. Where are you starting from? I regularly go from Northampton to Crossways (other side of the crossing) for a living and can probably help you avoid the grief....
  4. It had no additive in, just water.....
  5. I would move it, but I can't move it to the Focus Forums, the only one I can move it to is the C-Max Forum....
  6. Although she never started it, it finished her.....
  7. Do you have a set of heater controls above the front door of your car?
  8. Check for flakes of rust on it and also check the ABS ring is still firmly attached to the CV joint. If you can twist it round on the CV joint then it's dead.
  9. They do do funny things when the battery is dying.
  10. Neither does ELSAWIN, but I have seen cars with blocked ABS units and flipped seals after brake changes. Not too often, but often enough for me to clamp off the hose and open the bleed nipple. It takes a few seconds.
  11. If it has a tell-tale for the normal indicators then there would be no need to include trailers if they were not required to have a separate tell-tale. So I read that as a separate one is required. But I could be wrong.

  13. The first one to check is the battery terminal. Then follow the leads from there to the chassis. Individual ones you will have to trace back from the equipment as there are so many.
  14. He must have had an aftermarket alarm which did it, the control unit on the Galaxy does not do this.
  15. Presuming no fault exists then it is programable with VAG-COM. There may be another way to resolve this that I don't know of though.
  16. You would need the engine, loom, dash, gearbox, radiator, front exhaust up to and including the cat, any relevant air con bits, throttle pedal etc. Possible? Yes. Practical? Well I have to agree with the post above that if you had a heavy rear-ended diesel then quite possibly if your determined enough.
  17. It is almost certainly incomplete combustion for some reason. And timing is the prime suspect.
  18. No rants yet then? Perhaps we are not all grumpy old men after all!
  19. OK, listen up. The Galaxy is made by SEAT, part of VAG. The central locking is a VAG part. Autolocking is not supported on this model. Even if it was using a Ford proceedure would not work. Apart from the engine in some models the only thing Ford on the car is the radio and the badges. You're really driving a SEAT. Learn to live with it......
  20. That's not a rant MO4, that's just a moan.
  21. The beeps are probably a low battery warning, not really unexpected if the car has been sitting on a car lot for a while or if it was left with the ignition on when being serviced. I would not worry unless it starts beeping again.
  22. Often, even with a stuck stat the top hose will get hot. Some water will always pass through the stat, otherwise when you fill the system from dry you would not get water into the radiator. Often stats have a small hole to allow for this.
